New Nine Inch Nails coming

on the subject of the album and it’s so called ‘audiophile’ version, here’s an interesting video:

I think “Everything” is my favorite track just because it’s so different.
The AV Club review nailed it when they said it was like if The Cure was on the Breakfast Club soundtrack.

I personally don’t hate the track “Everything”. It’s definitely one of the biggest curve balls he’s thrown in a looong time. The only part I dislike that turns me off from the song is the very moment he opens his mouth and sings, “III SURVIIIVED!!! everything.” the first time. It sounds horrible and he sounds flat or just awkward really. Probably my only real gripe with the album. Once I make it past that part of the song I’m in and enjoying it.

Everything sounds like a cover of a Joy Division song if Joy Division had actually lived happily ever after and retired to Hawaii. What do you want? The guy had a baby, are ya surprised he wants to write tunes like that? Actually, hearing that song makes me think him and Richard Patrick should hook up again for something.

My favorites are actually the white boy funk tunes.

Yeah, All Time Low sounds like an outtake from Niggy Tardust.

My favorite is “I Would for You”.

What do I want? lol, I was honestly expecting a kind of dark atmosphere, electro pop album, judging from Came Back Haunted and Copy of A, which were the two songs i heard prior to giving the entire album a listen. Those happened to be the first 2 tracks on the album too lol! So who ever was in charge of the tracklisting, knew they should put the really good heavy hitters up front first to capture the listeners attention and then bore the fuck out of them with the quiet techno stuff at the end. The album’s kinda all over the place, like i just mentioned, the back end was really quiet and boring. I don’t hate it, its not really a bad album. Just not my thing, I see this album doing well though and attracting some new NIN fans with the upbeat stuff on there and the dancy tunes.

Well, that’s pretty much exactly what the album is. It’s cool if you don’t like the album but every complaint you’ve made is essentially what every NIN album has in common with each other or is ground he’s already covered in the past. None of this sounds anymore upbeat than anything off of PHM or anymore “dancey” than anything off of any other NIN album. I’m not trying to sound like a dick or confrontational either. Just pointing some stuff out.

Putting the “heavy hitters” at the front is basically what every artist/band with common sense has done and especially does even more now days with people’s short attention spans and quick access thanks to the internet. You can’t put the slower, moodier stuff first because that’s entering a low point regardless of how good the songs may be. You need something to grab your attention and help pull you into the lower points and then pull you back out or leave you hanging.

But yeah, it’s not for everyone - that’s for sure. Can’t think of a single NIN album that is or hasn’t had this sort of divisiveness amongst fans and casual listeners. People flipped their shit with how The Fragile wasn’t as “heavy” or “angry” sounding as TDS. And when the WITT video and single came out? Forget about it. Now most fans consider it NIN’s best album. One of my favorite aspects of the band has always been how different each album is. It’s nice not knowing what to expect and still be excited about new music from a band you grew up listening to, I guess.

The way i see it, quiet and boring doesn’t equal dark and atmospheric… uh dance pop, or whatever fuck genre you wanna call this lol, or it still industrial? xD idk. I guess going into this I thought i was gonna get an album akin to Came back haunted, Copy of A, in sort of a concept album structure where the tracks dont drift too far from each other, somewhat like Year Zero. And it’s ok if they do drift drastically away from each other, that’s not a big deal as long as the tracks are good. But I didnt find anything past track 3 to be all that amazing… and that’s the difference between this album and NIN’s last few. I never got bored with Year Zero, The Slip, those albums kept me focused and entertained. I lost interest in HM fairly early.

And I was just dicking around and poking fun with the whole tracklisting thing, didn’t mean to turn that into a debate, I agree with you on that.

Weird, just realized that Genesis P Orridge did a remix for the deluxe version of this album. Interesting…

Trent would have the creator of Spiderman paint murals for him…That was cool

He sounds ancient on it, too.
It’s weird because he doesn’t sound that old on the Sabbath Assembly album that came out last year.

Speaking of which, the creators of Spiderman came out today with this…a new woman superhero

What the hell does that have to do with anything other than your retarded post that you self-quoted and nobody responded to either because they didn’t give a shit or couldn’t understand what the fuck you were trying to say?

You just did…Respond to me, idiot

He responded to you to call you out for your usual habit of making no sense whatsoever.

By the way, Marvel is not the “creators” of Spider-Man. They’re a media company that owns Spider-Man. It’s like saying Sire is the “creator” or Psalm 69.

The creators of Spider-Man are two elderly men, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Lee doesn’t create anything anymore, and Ditko is a famous recluse who only wants to talk about Objectivism.

It’s nice that he has his mommy to explain stuff to him

If only we could be so lucky when it it came to you and your understanding of things. [rolleyes]

Why are so jealous of me and need to respond to things I say? I know I’m interesting, but you are not. And have lots of stories to tell, you don’t…have anything to offer
