But “10 years” is a little optimistic, don’t ya think?
I honestly believe that by the time this damn thing FINALLY sees the light of day, robots will be driving taxis and Bieber will have re-invented grunge.
Funny. I was just thinking the other day - hang on a minute, where are Tool? Have I really been out of the loop that long what with the divorce and redundancy and everything?
So I did some googling and found that there is no new Tool release since 10,000 Days. I didn’t think there was. I don’t pay attention to bands as much as I dis 20 years ago, but I was sure I would have heard something about a new release. Tool are pretty huge down here in Oz country. But no, there’s nothing. Fuck me! My son had just celebrated his 1st birthday when I bought that. He is now 8 and a half. That’s a life time ago.
On Wikipedia it says that a new one is expected in early 2014? Does anyone know why the hold up? Did they break up and then reform? Or just don’t have their shit together?
Peligro, you seem to be pretty heavily into them. Any news?
Anyway, the new Nine Inch Nails is ok. Sounds a bit Cure - ish mixed with New Order mixed with some up and coming indie band thing. Different but not different in a bad way.
It sounds like 95% of the songs being farted out by “alternative” bands and slurped up by every stupid college kid in the early 90’s. But I’m not exactly their target demographic anyway.
I don’t know, I like it. It’s obviously very different from his previous material. So, I understand why people wouldn’t like it. But I’d much rather hear something different than the same shit regurgitated over and over again.
I actually kind of like it. I knew eventually he would kick the blues and start making “positive” sounding music.
Props to Trent for pushing his talents and trying new things. I know a certain someone who is more talented than what he’s actually put out there in the past ten years. (coughAl*Cough).

Gary Talpas is still doing design work. I think he designs visuals for theme parks and attractions. Not sure of the others.
Yeah, that’s pretty much what the article Revco linked to said. There’s been little heard of Woolley since 2006, Haymes is in IT Administration, Rushe is working on a musical, and Mars does mixing work.

Maynard is now writing lyrics. That news came out a few hours ago, so yr timing is excellent, Padawan. Yes it’s been a LONG fucking time and no ifs or buts. Very good news. If Maynard is “writing”, then the music is pretty much finished. Which means we should (hopefully) see an album by March or April of next year. Which is technically still a long way off, but…well at least we have something concrete now.
Look at yr window this evening and watch as Tool die hards wander the streets either shaking their collective fists and screaming or wander around dazed and confused.

Yeah, I like it well enough. It’s fresh and poppy and simple. A nice change from the usual. So far I’ve really like all three tracks that have leaked.
Looking forward to popping this on the stereo. But that’s it for me. I don’t want to hear any more of the album. Don’t want to ruin it before buying.
I can totally get why people wouldn’t like the newest song released. I was blasting “Copy of a” in my car earlier and then “Everything” came on and I immediately turned it down with a minor anxiety attack. Was like, “This shit is kinda fruity.” But I eventually turned it up even louder than the previous song to protest my inner hierarchy.
Ain’t no reason for a nigga to be ashamed of the musical compositions in which he finds joy in. No reason at all. Fuck all ya’ll haters.

Yeah, i like it. I’m kinda optimistic about tomorrow’s show now. Kinda, it could still be boring crap.
