I’m pretty stoked for their upcomming album. I think it’s going to be a great record, these musicians are too talented to put out stinkers. Their debut single Motherfucker was such a curveball…not their best song but was in the RV vein of a wtf moment.
I’ve listened to it 3 times now. Very solid, very dynamic. The band is firing on all cylinders. Sounds like it could have come out in the late 90s. I strongly recommend you flock to your favorite file-sharing site and get it as fast as possible.
P.S. A lot of people will disagree with this, but there isn’t a Faith No More w/out at least one skippable song on it. “The Real Thing” had “The Morning After,” “Angel Dust” had “Smaller & Smaller,” “King For A Day” had “The Last To Know,” and the whole final third of “Album Of The Year” is sub-par. This new album DOES NOT HAVE A BAD TRACK ON IT.
how would you explain how it sounds musically? still diverse?
how’s Patton sound?
It’s got a slightly Southern Gothic feel to it. Some of the songs remind me of poppier stabs at his Tomahawk project. Patton still sounds amazing. Some of the songs even have a slight Bungle vibe.
cool, thanks. I know they were saying they’re going back to the sound a bit of their first album…darker, a little goth influence. with FNM in interviews you never know if they’re fucking around or telling the truth!
