Here’s the run down. This is the best Ministry album, this is the last Ministry album. Another Buck Satan, a new Blues album… and thats about it.
This is the best Ministry album, this is the last Ministry album.
Well, there you have it, Folks!
Some of what he’s saying was interesting. The book he’s dictating I’m sure will be a scathing indictment of the “Book Club”.
He’s really determined to play this rebel badass persona to the bitter end. It’s so deeply ingrained in his character at this point.
“DefibrillaTOUR” …ugh
I swear, this guy used to sound somewhat intelligent in interviews, once upon a time. His recent interviews are almost unbearable. I get tired of hearing the “I almost died” boast from Al, Nikki Sixx, etc…like it’s a badge of honor. Congratulations on surviving being a complete fuckhead.
The worst part of watching this interview is the thumbnail of the new album art lurking below the video. There’s nothing to look forward to but imminent disappointment.

When he’s saying this is the best Ministry album, and one of the top 50 albums of all time (or “record albums” as he keeps saying which confuses me), and then I look down at that cover thumbnail, it is beyond cringe.
And he had his wife do the Interview. Adorable. And to be fair and in his defense. He’s a burn out. You can’t booze and shoot up for years and expect to be all articulate after. That stuff messes you up. I didn’t mind the interview much, surprisingly. Some were cliche and I just shook my head. And I don’t believe that this is he final ministry album, or the best. As long as he’s able to keep going, he’ll keep going. He did hint that his health would be the indicator of future tours and so on. I think the touring’s gonna be a struggle for him. He’s older, has health problems and playing this heavy fast music that he can’t even keep up with anymore (99%).
But like the bush trilogy, I’m sure it’ll have at least two or two songs in there that I’ll think are pretty cool, and the rest will probably be whatever. We’ll see though. Shame, though, that you have to always read between the lines with every interview he does now. But hey, I think I got the gist of it though (with a little effort).
And I guess Sin made up with Al. Ramen probably ran out.

Sin? Is he on the tour now? He and Tommy can practice awesome stage poses while Mikey actually plays guitar. I find nothing more repulsive than the two of those knobs having a cliche contest . . .
Sin puts his New Rock boot up on the speaker and then throws the horns . . . .
Tommy vollies back by holding his guitar to the air like a gun as he wacks away at it . . .
Sin takes the lead by dangling his guitar into the front of the audience so they can touch its awesomeness . . .
Tommy’s not going down without a fight and attempts a slashing windmill . . .
Jerks.
Tommy isn’t touring. It’ll be mikey and sin on guitar this time around. They have until summer to change that. But as of right now, no tommy.
wait
first it was houses that was best ever ministry record
then it was last sucker at one point
also it was one of nu-revco albums said to be “best album i’ve ever done”
now it’s relapse the best (ooh and top 50 as well hm)
i think there’s a pattern here
Al seems like he’s making music for the love of it, and doesn’t really care if it’s good or not. As long as he’s happy I guess.
There was no mention of finishing his pop solo album. I was really looking forward to that one. Ah well.
I’m pretty sure Al understands that saying your latest album is the best and that it’ll be the last is a good business tactic at his age. I’m pretty sure he knows what he’s doing and obviously doesn’t give a fuck what Prongs has to say… Can’t blame him.
Can’t blame him for not liking the opinions here or can’t blame him for being a unprincipled douchebag?
Al also mentioned that Rigor Mortis, Acrassicauda and Plastilina Mosh will be recording at 13th Planet this year. Think any of those records will be good?

I have no idea who Plastilina Mosh is but the Rigor Mortis album is gonna be amazing. I’ve heard a few of their new demo songs and it’s some of the best metal EVER.
And Accrassicauda! I’ve not read the interview, so I don’t know if he’s already explained this, but that is the band that was featured on the documentary HEAVY METAL IN BAGHDAD. A struggling group of guys playing metal in Baghdad during the war . . . their studio getting bombed out, taliban type dudes wanting them dead, etc. etc. It’s a really inspirational and emotional film. Their music was nothign spectacular but I want the guys to succeed because they got balls and heart for days . . .
I recommend the film to anyone.

Even after the three songs he put out?
They were hardly spectacular.
Damn Palawhatever Mosh is actually pretty dancy. Maybe Al can bust out his synth pop skills again.
re: top 50, I don’t buy for a second Al even believes it. It’s what is left of his Beavis sense of humor, so of course that there is no sense of sarcasm makes it seem serious. It’s funny, when most of the fans chatted with him years ago (post-heroin) he talked a lot about who he was influenced by. Buck of course, but also stuff like The Residents, Rolling Stones, Gram Parsons, etc. yeah some shit kicker stuff but it definitely doesn’t show in this “music”.
It’s the one dynamic about Al I just don’t understand. He doesn’t even listen to metal. I mean, if Mike’s playing Rigor Mortis stuff, or similar, yeah he hears it, but he doesn’t seek it out…so why the fuck does new Ministry sound like this? No one’s buying it, no one cares, and Al is so over the top when he says I don’t know, keep making music even if people hate it, etc. IF THAT’S SO TRUE THEN MAKE IT FREE - NO ONE’S BUYING IT OTHERWISE ANYWAY.

To be fair, that’s kind of a common cliche with rock singers. They always say this shit. It’s just a thing you say when you do interviews - gotta convince the kids to buy it right?
The person who I always thought was the most guilty of this: John Davis from Korn.
