Ministry Playing Wacken Open Air 2012

http://metaltalk.net/news/2010866.php

New Ministry album begins this Winter

He really needs money for those hospital bills afterall.

What a crappy article. That tells us almost nothing.

I’d fly to Europe for:

Ministry Wacken '12 lineup:
Brad Hallen: Bass
Stephen George: Drums
Mark Pothier: Keys
Bob Roberts: Keys
Al J: Vox

But it will probably end up being:
Tommy Victor: Guitar
Burton Bell: Vox
Al J: ?
Erie Load: xxx’ing
with maybe that guy from Slipknot on drums at best

The article is crap because they likely have nothing else to go on other than that crap analogy.

also: BRING BACK JOHN MONTE!

BRING BACK JOHN MONTE!

AND MAX BRODY!!!

unless Al has the balls to say to his ex-bandmates (whom he’s been slagging off for years) “hey, i’m an asshole, my bad” I don’t see why you guys would wish him back on them :stuck_out_tongue:

new album prediction: more thrash!

@Rusty I hope ur kidding on Burton singing Stainless Steel Providers. That would sound horrendous. I think even CC would be pissed if he heard that.

nah, im serious. i mean, have you heard Concrete? or Soul of a New Machine? burt has a nice growl/death bark, and it would be a nice update to that song (in the more metallic tradition of newer ministry stuff)

and i donno…i really just love his voice, i would listen to him sung just about anything, if only out of interest.

As much as I’ve tried to appreciate Burton’s vocals, I cant get into them. They sound like a mix of Hetfield and Vedder only more pissed off. Like a guy that likes grunge but let me make it metal…ugh…

I really liked them in middle school and it is not Cocks. You should be banned for this.

It’s a Best of show… I hope it’s just the Bush Trilogy

I think they’re gonna play the Best of Slam Bamboo.

I don’t think the musicians that have been involved with Ministry in recent years are so bad, it’s just that they play only the nu material right?

Wrong.

The classics they played live were fucking horrendous from The RGB line-up to the last line-up featured on the CuLaTour.

I’d much rather see Slam Bamboo than Ministry mk. 7 or 8 or whatever it is.

They must have been pretty shit if they can’t play the classics well. If they can’t play any Ministry songs well… they are probably bosses at Guitar Hero.

Now that you mention it NWO was pretty sloppy and not in a good way. Al and Burton were also off when they split vox on Thieves. As for RGB, I heard that was Jordison’s fault.

I don’t think it was anyone’s fault…Ministry just happened to be a pretty poor live band from RGB to TLS. They simply didn’t gel as a live unit on those tours.

I never saw the HOTM tour but I imagine they weren’t too shit hot then either compared to the 90s live Ministry unit I was lucky enough to catch a few times.

Also when you happen to catch numerous live shows over time it becomes pretty clear when live acts aren’t “good”.

I’ve seen Ministry a good batch of times. With no factoring in for the set list/ song choices . . . .

Psalm 69 tour and Lollapaloosa: AMAZING
Filth Pig tour: AMAZING
Dark Side: AMAZING
Houses: They sounded pretty good.
RGB: I thought they sounded their worst on this one.
TLS: They sounded pretty good, actually (saw them in both San Diego and Dublin)

Even though I’m a huge supporter and fan of Mikey, the RGB show (I saw it in Hollywood) just did not do it for me. I spent most of the time at the bar talking with some old burnouts about how awesome Twisted Sister and Dokken are.

The Sphinctour performance I saw was awful - not so much the rest of the band, but Al was smacked out and it showed.
He put on way better performances as a drunkard than he did as a junkie.
My problem with the more recent shows wasn’t so much the band, who I thought did well, as it was the setlist, which was garbage.

Yeah, the “CU-La-Tour” reigns supreme in that aspect. Just completely awful.

I never saw any of the shows from “Animositiminblabblahblah” but I heard quite a few reports that they were crap as well.

I saw the Sphinctour show in Sacramento. They played Arco Arena which is a big venue (I think the Kings play BBall there). The crowd was pretty retarded as it was mostly stupid kids with Marilyn Manson and White Zombie t-shirts because the show was nowhere close to being sold out and they were giving away boxes of tickets through the radio stations and were handing them out in the parking lot the day of the show.

That being said, Al and the boys put on a heck of a show. Al was DEFINITELY smacked out of his skull, but it worked at that show. He was absolutely demonic looking and it added to the atmosphere. And since most of the attendees were teenagers it was very easy for me to shove them aside and take a spot at the front rail where Al would snarl at us and look all creepy.

I really liked the Houses of the Mole show, less so Rio Grande which took everything I liked about the Mole show and did it less interestingly. Had no real interest in Last Sucker.

I higly doubt that since that was the last great setlist I’ve seen.

You lucky motherfucker! If only I knew more about Ministry back then I hella would’ve urged my Dad to take me. And that was the last tour they were ever gonna play a big arena like that. Aside from the teenage crowd that must’ve been quite an experience.
