If it’s to pay off his medical bills, than I can’t blame the guy. Forgot all about that. He sounded way better in that infowars vid too, so maybe he can get it together.
I hope it all works out. It’s still a year away though, so we’ll see.
The story of his health scare is in a recent interview - it’s linked somewhere on this site. Basically he was vomiting blood and had to go to the hospital which is why he had to quit the booze.
Could be interesting. Has potential to be interesting. Would be the first performance EVER that he’s not under any sort of influence. Depends on what they play, and whether he gives a shit to even be there. And last I heard, the last shows ministry played, he was barely able to even keep up and had Burton pick up the slack.
Burton was fantastic at the show I saw him at (San Diego). I’d be alright with Burton (vox), Scaccia (guitar), and whoever the heck else happens to be conscious the day of the show.

burton killed it in NYC too.
i would love to see Burton and Ogre up there with Al singing, but isnt that a pipe dream and a half. haha.
serious question though… with Tommy Victor be there? because as much as i LOVE middle era PRONG stuff… that man is violently shitty live. ive seen him 3 times with Danzig… and each damn time it sounds like IM playing the guitar up there…
the line up is what is going to make or break this… i mean, if he gets any of the awesome older guys they might not be down to JUST play songs off his ‘solo’ trilogy…
Right on. I’m not even a Fear Factory fan. I was honestly planning on heckling him at the San Diego show but I was really impressed by his performance and talked to him a bit after the show. I told him I was going to bust his balls but that his set changed my mind. He was really humble and we talked a while about how it was a bit of a dream come true for him (he’s a huge Ministry fan).
I had him sign my jacket even though to this day I don’t own ANY of his music (I sold Cover Up about a month after I bought it). I tried to get into his bands because I really wanted to be able to support his stuff and be a fan of his music. But I just couldn’t get into it.
I’d LOVE to see him live again though.
I remember standing a few feet away from Burton before my Ministry show but not realizing it was him til he got on stage. Not even he could save that travesty. Maybe if they hadn’t wasted time on RGB trax and covers and had more of him it would’ve been better.
Including him in that tour was a weird decision.
He was on several tracks from TLS and Cover Up, but they played none of those even though the tour was 99% new material. Instead they bring him out to sing the 1% that was classics.
Then they put out a live album and don’t include any of the songs he sang - which are the only ones I would have purchased because live versions of the Bush trilogy material are completely unnecessary to own.
Anyway, Al’s got a year to put a band together. Hopefully he’ll make it count.

I hope so. I don’t want to be a dick, but Al is the kind of guy that has to work very hard to stay clean and sober, and the festival is a year away. I certainly hope he does it, I’m seriously rooting for him, but I won’t be surprised if he falls off the wagon somewhere along the way. Disappointed, but not surprised.
Hope he doesn’t fall off. I have a feeling he might not slip this time though. He can’t really afford to, ya know? Plus, he claims to actually be working out, so maybe that could be helping him get through sobriety. Trent did it and look at him, he’s a monster now. But hopefully he chooses a good band. I’m going to assume Saccia might be involved, which is a plus.
if it IS just a one-off show… he might be able to convince some classic guys to do it… i mean, im SURE some of the oldies, even guys like Ray W and such would do ONE show…
but lets be honest here… i would way rather see Jello up there singing than Al at this point. i mean, i would laugh my ass off if the ‘best of’ set was just a buncha lard songs, and then burton singing stainless steel providers and man should surrender… i’d also pay top dollar fora good bootlegs…
Man, if Burton was on stage doing any Pailhead or whatever, that would be fucking historic. Burton stole the show in 08, no doubt.
If it’s a one-off show with a unique lineup/setlist, they should release it as an official live album. Not all the fans can afford to go to Germany.

If 13th Planet Records still exists it would be a miracle if it is not released…
@Rusty I hope ur kidding on Burton singing Stainless Steel Providers. That would sound horrendous. I think even CC would be pissed if he heard that.
I don’t know if 13th Planet Records still exists. They haven’t released or announced any new albums in over 6 months.
I don’t think the musicians that have been involved with Ministry in recent years are so bad, it’s just that they play only the nu material right?
I support the decision to break out Ministry again if he needs to pay off his hospital bills but I’d like a bit more of a classic lineup. As some said, Scaccia obviously and some others.
If they play some of the classic songs and they aren’t butchered it should be redeeming. And if it’s an inevitable disappointment then I doubt anyone will be shocked…
I’m most interested in what Al’s voice will be like (if he does do vocals) since it went higher presumably because he quit smoking and drinking due to the ulcer thing.

Maybe we’ll get to hear metal versions of “All Day” and “My Possession”? [:)]

Exactly! It was nice to see Tony Campos on stage in '08. Sin also looked into it as well. Can’t say the same for Tommy Victor. Whoever was on drums served their purpose I guess. Since he had a falling out with Sin he should just get Louis back.
