Ministry MP3

I got this Double Disc album in the mail today it’s pretty much Ministry’s entire catalogue on MP3…from Twitch all the way up to Houses Of The Mole. THe liner notes are in arabic (It looks anyway) and I’m not sure who puts it out BUT they are professional CDs silver bottoms and the packaging (even though it’s a crappy Digipak) is very Professional…anybody else seen this?

how about some pics of it?

I haven’t seen that particular one, but it seems a lot of these thngs are produced in Russia. Whole discographies of groups on data discs, which while convenient the reality is sadly none of the money goes to the bands. These are sort of a double edge sword usually produced in territories where there may not be distrubution of much music and fans might not otherwise have access to albums. Who knows maybe it is liscensed, but I doubt it.

Ehh I tend to stay away from such things, but you know most of us here have had to pay for a boot at one time or another it just goes with the territory of being collectors. I know I bought that Live At Loolapalooza disc when it came out.

how about some pics of it?

If I can get the scanner to work sure thing!

Sounds like the same thing as those Russian mp3 websites. All the money goes to the mob.

how about some pics of it?

Here ya go!

I’ve seen a similar Leaether Strip/Klute bootleg before. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was the same people.

Cool find, though.

Cool, that definitely looks like Cyrillic characters so it’s probably Russian in origin. The interior graphics look just as good as some of the later Ministry/Revco releases (or soon to be released for that matter).

Russian.

1002

It’s definitely Russian. There’s a skinny puppy release that’s similar in packaging.

It’s nice that they make no bones about it being from “MP3” all over it at least…

yeah, russian for sure. to tell you the truth i didn’t even know that “our” pirates made such nicely done digipak mp3 collections!!! i saw a couple different ministry mp3 cds, but this double digipak is the first. actually prated mp3 collections were pretty common like maybe 5-7 years back. on the midpannel.gif there’s a short ministry story written in russian.

think you could tell us what it says?

sure. some facts are wrong of course, but here it is:

The band “Ministry” was formed in 1981 in Chicago, IL. The founding members were Al Jourgensen (vocals, keyboards at that point) and Stephen George (drums). The band’s music at that time was something like a synth-pop, and something much more melodic rather than the later material that the band became known for. The group’s name was taken from the movie “Ministry Of Fear”. From the start they played shows at the clubs and at some parties (wtflol).

In 1983 the band releases their first single “Cold Life” on WaxTrax! Records. Later the band records its first album on Arista Records - “With Sympathy” (known as “Work For Love” in european countries). The album had following singles - I Wanted To Tell Her, Revenge, Work For Love. In 1985 the band issued “Twelve Inch Singles” TVT Records, which included the works from 1981-1984. Both released didn’t do much for the band (didn’t even get in Top-100). But even right at that time it was apparent that Al Jourgensen was about to change the style/direction.

By the end of 1980’s major changes were going on inside the band. Al took the electric guitar in his hands and employed two of his friends from the band called “The Blackouts” - Paul Barker on bass guitar and William Rieflin on drums. With this new line-up the band recorded “The Land Of Rape And Honey” (1988), an landmark album which became one of the prime examples in the “Aggro-Industrial” genre.

there you go. just some very brief basic info. they didn’t even mention Twitch, heh-heh.

Awesome Gila thanks for the translation!

it doesn’t even have anything to do with me exactly - but very cool gila for the translation.

that took some time and focus.

just curious… what’s the rate of those MP3s? 128, 320? You’re player should say as it plays the file back.

it’s 192kbps minimum at least.

it’s probably 256kbps though.

that was the most common bitrate for various pirate mp3 collections here.

I’ll check it out for sure for you a little later(although Gila is probably right). right now it’s in my stereo… talk about convienence!! [:)]
