Ok, check out the new Ministry Monday download for an unexpected surprise. A pretty nice one indeed. Downloading now to see if it’s legit, but if it is, I’ll be really pleased.
I was surprised to see this too… I’m downloading as we speak…

And it is, in fact, legit. I Will Refuse live. Tasty!
hey bisq, you gotta lift your game! remember when prongs used to do this! [;)]
Cool! Is it just the one track or is it a full 89’ show?
Glad to hear Al is starting to offer this kind of stuff for the fans.
full 1/1/89 show …great show…by the original taper who deserves credit. Alex…great guy.
Yes. It’s the legit entire show. This is the master cassette.
Where You At Now? comes in late and the tape flip happens during I Will Refuse. Otherwise, it’s fully intact.
The show you hear is exactly how they sounded at the Oz - a former roller skating rink turned nightclub.
I’m very happy with how it turned out.
NICE!!! Can’t wait to download/listen to this.

The story: On 01/01/89 the band Ministry played their first ever concert in Seattle, Washington as the very last show of their tour. I believe it was added so the 2 newer key members of the band (former members of popular Seattle band The Blackouts) could finally play a show to their home crowd.
I understood that they were miserable when they arrived at the nightclub (a former rollerskating rink). The concert almost didn’t happen because Al J. lit up a cigarette during the plane ride to Seattle and refused to put it out. Police removed him from the plane and were going to take him to jail. But, the tour manager managed to have him released after paying a hefty fine.
There was no opening band. DJ’s Chris and Scruff provided the pre and post concert entertainment.
It was loud. There were sound problems. The song that suffers the most is You Know What You Are. You can hear comments from the peanut gallery about it. After that song the show really picks up. There are MANY killer moments.
I remember there being quite a few people tripping out because they were expecting to see the new wave disco band of a few years earlier and not the heavy electronic fusion of dance, punk, noise, metal. I was already into the whole industrial electronic music scene and knew what to expect.
It was an incredible club show that was unforgettable to be a part of and experience. Near the end of the concert Chris kept calling my name to come up to the dj tower because he wanted to show me the set up. I took my eyes off the band and went up there to inspect the goods - nothing special. The 2 mics direct into the tape recorder. But, I was fucking stoked! I stayed up there for the entire encore with my friends.
Afterwards Scruff gave me a copy of the tape. I listened to it a few times following the show, but it needed help.
I have audio production experience. So, a couple months ago I rescued the music of that night from the vault. It received a high resolution A>D transfer, and I spent many hours carving out the mud from the raw tape so that I could share this with the world. The concert lives again; and, due to this OFFICIAL release, it can be enjoyed by anyone who wishes to hear it. So, hang out with my friends and I on 01/01/89, and enjoy a kick ass, legendary performance.
The final Ministry concert ever! Listen until the very end and you will understand.
Thank you, Uncle Al and Omar, for making this possible.
Thanks to James Bryte/yearsofdecay for your consultation and generosity.
The Apex
Oh yeah. This is important. The first time that you listen to this, keep the volume low and then adjust. Crank it up hard with horn speakers and you are inside the venue.
Holy shit dude…excellent sound if not in the top 3 I’ve heard. Great separation of channels. TY!
hey bisq, you gotta lift your game! remember when prongs used to do this! [;)]
Only stopped because someone from the camp got a little nasty about it. Glad to see that’s changed. I’ll be hooking up Omar with some goodies as well. Hopefully this will continue!

killer dude, still love yer work no less [;)]
nice little backstory above about the concert too!
Apex - This is a killer recording! Thanks so much for sharing! A great performance and, I believe, the only live recording of I Will Refuse that’s surfaced. You didn’t happen to tape any other good shows at Oz, did you?
I have to admit, whomever is advising Al right now is doing a good job. There seems to be a real intent to earn back some of the fans lost the last few years. Hope it continues.
THis is fucking bullshit!!! My fucking comp is riddled with adware and maleware from downloading “ministry mondays #5” i even followed the “official link” so fuck that bullshit!!![pirate]

Thanks for the warning.
great to finally hear I will Refuse, never knew they every did that live! Lots of good sounding bootlegs out there for the land of rape and honey tour, essentially same setlist without i will refuse. The 2 mics do more harm than good, lots of phasing issues.
This, along with a few shows at the beginning of the tour, is one of the few shows without Ogre. He must have bailed on this one, based on the backstory of this being an added date. But it does have Al doing songs usually done by Ogre from this tour.

I don’t think that’s where you got it. I just downloaded the whole thing and then ran Malwarebytes, and all I had was some PUPs, and they could’ve come from anywhere.
