I will say if anyone here does like say, Skinny Puppy’s Last Rights album and likes metal, check out Clerics album “Regressions”. To me it’s almost a metal version of Last Rights, just epic and tiring.
awe poor baby. I’m sawwy… Look jackass, fact is James posted on this forum insider news about this forums band, you and the man with many bands got all huffy and then when called on it cry and call names.
HAHAHAHA!!! What the heck are you even talking about? I never took issue with the “insider info” that was posted. In fact, I wrote to the poster privately to AGREE with him on most of his assessment of it.
So here I bequeath my Emo Crown to you.
Righteous! Thank you!
PS in all sincerity, I’m sorry your buddy suddenly died he was an excellent guitarist and seemed like a great guy. Serious, that was a shock. That post you made was great stuff. That IS what I like about you. not this stupid shit.
Right on. I’m glad to hear that, and thanks for the kind words. I guess everyone has their favorite and least favorite (sometimes this is everything) parts of Gunnar. But that Mikey piece I wrote really was dear to me, so I do appreciate your comments. Thank you.
PPS we don’t think we have Hot Topic in Canada…
Damn! No wonder y’all are so sad. It must suck having to get your H.I.M. bracelets by mail-order.
PPPS being called a lady isn’t actually an insult… oh right I forgot there’s only 1 maybe 2 here, whereas Litany has many.
Yes, I know. Skinny Puppy fans are typically moody goth chicks. This board has always been a total sausage party.
PPPPS I think I’ve been registered here much longer than you.
Maybe. I don’t know. I don’t think I tried to pull my Senior Citizen card on you, did I?
Is there really? Where? I want to check out this mythical place…
googled…I’ll be damned! of course it’s on Yonge St lol
I sit corrected. EVEN worse it’s in the Eaton Centre!
Should be good for a laugh, and at least you’ll know where all the lame ass internet barbs about it come from. Take note of it, though, as there are sometimes actually TWO Hot Topic brands – Hot Topic and Hot Topic ROCK. The former being a bunch of crap like “Vote For Pedro” shirts and stupid crap like that, whereas the “Rock” still has all the gothy goth crap and Slipknot hoodies.
In the interest of truncating and being succinct here, issues weren’t with the info released but I guess “where” it was released. Poorly phrased on my part. (I’m actually referring to the Litany are big pussies etc) I pointed out how long I’ve been reading this forum as I’ve seen many people come and go over the years, here and there, I have a soft spot for Ministry kind of, and plus checking in now and again helps me spot when say, CC releases something new, or Paul plus sometimes it’s just some head scratching funny banter.
Just downloaded Flowering Blight, and 1 track in it’s more to my liking than anything Ministry has done since, DSOTS. As are CC’s last couple albums…(certainly better than Pink Anvil imo) it does remind me of Lead Into Gold I guess voice wise. I do like my deep music rather than say, Stones covers done all metal and shaking my skinny fists…
Hot Topic, yeah I’ve only read about it… I may even have some tee shirt designs in there lol… I’ll check it out. who are H.I.M.? again I’ve heard of I guess but they or H.E. seems to get a lot of stick…hmmm not all that succinct…lol
who are H.I.M.?
H.I.M., or more specifically, VILLE VALLO, is the godfather and inventor of BLACK METAL. Even Cradle of Filth owe their trailblazing efforts to the accomplishments of this great visionary of a man.
H.E.
What does that stand for? It doesn’t ring a bell.
H.E. was just a play on H.I.M.

The Toronto Hot Topic is one of the non-rock ones. Last I checked it was full of Adventure Time stuff, pretty far from the goth stereotype that the brand used to represent.

Ahhhh, that’s too bad.
What’s Adventure Time?

Oh, gotcha. I’ve seen the characters on stuff. I can’t watch the cartoon, though. I get about a minute in and I’m already angry and bored.
It got better towards the end. Nothing I’d watch on a regular basis.

LOL…Gunnar defected from piss army when it started getting scary. He’s really the only one who sticks around.

I actually made my account back in 2005 or so to talk smack but only ever popped in every year or so and found most of the discussion boring. I started posting here regularly about 2-3 years ago.
I never “defected” from the Piss Army. I stuck through with it until the bitter end and gladly take credit for its final demise (yeah, yeah, Afra got blamed anyway, hahaha!!!) because the people doing admin duties at the time were and are complete tool bags.
We then formed our own splinter group with the fragments of the PA . . . . PB4PB (Paul Barker for Paul Barker). That lasted about 3 years and died in a blazeless glory of unpaid internet service.
The “FiXXX Army” (Facebook) had since been made (went live about a year ago) and I post there sometimes but have no connection to the running of it, and it’s quite honestly pretty damn LAME.
I really don’t give a rat’s ass who likes what or whether they think nu-Ministry is better than old Ministry. I’m here to discuss music about 5% of the time and the other 95% of the time I just crack one-liners and make jokes that I think are funny and occasionally find an audience of 1 or 2 others.
I just love to party.
Yeah I saw that. But I remember USERNAME back in the day before we all needed to re-register.
As far as Skinny Puppy…kinda got into them late in the game. Too Dark Park was my first exposure and it was scary. Took me awhile before I revisited it (few months) and started to dig it. I’m more of a greatest hits guy with SP. Of course Rabies is up there & Process has its moments. I did like the first three releases when they reunited . I also like the solos effects from ohGr to Doubting Thomas. Just sayin’.

Well, he’s definitely got more carbon in his fossils than I do. I’m sure I’ve never had to re-register.

I’m sort of a noobie…I got into them around 96 or so. I think it was either Brap or The Process that I heard first, I really don’t remember. Their instrumental stuff is great. I highly recommend the CD edition of Bites. It has really cool tracks instrumentals like Tomorrow, One Day, Center Bullet. I loved listening to this album during the summer while I played NES.

if you haven’t yet, check out the Brap 2CD the one disc is Bites era instrumentals, and also check out cEvin Key & Ken Marshall “the Dragon Experience” on Metropolis…same deal Bites era stuff, all instrumental. Also The Tear Garden “Tired Eyes Slowly Burning” has (well the CD anyway) The Centre Bullet with Edward Ka Spel of Legendary Pink Dots on vocals I’ve liked both bands since Puppy’s VIVIsectVI and Ministry’s LORAH…
If you like Skinny Puppy chances are you don’t give a crap what people think of your music.
Chances are you also don’t:
-Practice good hygiene
-Have a monthly income of over $1,000
-Own a car that was made in the last 25 years
-Have a High School diploma
-Own a clean shirt
I’m just happy the Skinny Puppy fan was stupid enough to take the bait. It’s so great to watch Gunnar smack morons like this around. Almost as great as listening to my hero, Sir Paul, play the bass.
I just hope the Skinny Puppy groupie is stupid enough to keep this going for a few more pages, and something tells me he is [laugh][laugh]
“The Dragon Experience” is amazing. Easily my favorite Kevin solo album because a. There’s not too much pointless noodling b. Hiwatt Marshall feeds it all through his mystical “good machine” (I swear everything he touches sounds good) and c. Genesis P Orrige doesn’t appear.
I do wish that kEvin let Phil Western tale more of a lead in download as a lot of times a song will start sounding really good and then kEvn does his “unexpected and kooky” noise burst and poop all over the good stuff. I like Phil’s solo stuff a lot better than any download since effector.

Brap was one of the first ones I ever heard. The instrumentals really turned me on to the group. The CD-ROM stuff was cool at the time too. I remember the video clips and the interactive discography. The other stuff is cool as well. I feel a little ashamed to say this, but I own a physical copy of every Skinny Puppy related release. The Tear Garden and Doubting Thomas certainly my favorite of the side projects. Ohgr is pretty good. Hilt and Download are hit and miss.
