well, that is certainly the “other news” Al hinted about a month or so ago. wish them the best. maybe he NEEDS to tour for the money, which I hope isn’t the case. record sales certainly aren’t bringing in the cash these days.
I think he should bust out the old synths and do some film scores, especially if he’ll be in LA…creepy John Carpenter type stuff…

The news of the divorce is sad for me to hear. I can’t even fathom the mess Al is right now. He turned all of his business affairs over to Angie and now he has to jump back in the drivers seat. He has to feel completely overwhelmed. He has burned so many bridges that it must be near impossible to find anybody to help him. Staying sober is a must, but I don’t feel confident that he will be able to walk the line.
This has to be the reason for the tour. Al may not NEED the cash, but this will help recoup some of the funds Angie will be getting in the divorce.
I hope this bring some humility to Al and he realizes that his career is for him to control. Time will only tell if this gets Al motivated again.

Wow this is the first I’ve heard about the divorce news. After hearing about the upcoming tour and this divorce it kind of makes sense and to be honest if I was a family member alarm bells would totally be ringing. It seems to me Al is looking to run away and re-live his past on tour with people worshipping him and going on gigantic benders which could really finish him off.

I really hope he shows me wrong, but the smart money is unfortunately on this train completely derailing . . .
He hates playing live and had said many times over the years that he has to get wasted just to get on stage. Doesn’t exactly sound like the best environment to place a guy who is barely 90 days sober and has been an alcoholic/drug addict for 40 years before that.
I feel like we need to let Dr. Phil yell at him for a few hours or something.
Maybe, given the damage he’s more than likely to do to himself, we could all start a “Kickstarter” to fund Al’s NOT going on a tour? That might be a historical first usage of that site for preventing an artistic venture.
I’ll even get to work on drafting up Shepard Fairey rip-off posters with Al’s likeness on them, to promote this, maybe with a ‘viral video’ similar to that one which got people interested in hunting down Joseph Kony for a week or so…
That, and a “We Are The World”-type celebrity single might bring in enough cash to make it unnecessary for Al to go through with this.

I did hear some of what was written about the beginning of our relationship and almost none of it is factual – even small things are wrong, such as him claiming I was pregnant before we got married. I don’t think he is so far gone that his memories have escaped him, I suspect he has a reason for telling what I have heard are out and out lies. In my case, I believe that since his relationship with his current wife started before our relationship actually ended, he may have told her a version of things that cast him a better light and now is stuck with those stories. This is easier than admitting that he lied.
Meh. Still not much to raise an eyebrow. Just one more person saying that Al’s account of something may be less than fully accurate. Everyone says this (and it’s true). Al’s been a bullshitter forever. I hardly doubt one more person pointing it out makes a difference.
And if you’re going to split up because of something written on any message board (especially this one) then you probably had big problems already.
And yeah, I share your concerns in regards to Al on the road by himself. Trying to stay positive, but that could just be the makings of a disaster.
When Al was in rehab Angie had access to Al’s facebook account… connect the dots.
This makes a lot more sense, actually, if we’re coming up with theories.
