Rumors has it that Primus and Ministry will open up for Slayer…
I saw this as well. Certainly will end at the Forum in Los Angeles.
I’ll be there.
I’ve never really cared for Primus on record but they are an absolute blast live…
Huh. I saw Slayer on the leg of this tour with Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, and Lamb of God as the openers, so kind of unexpected that they’d go from that kind of a lineup to a more “alternative metal” one.
Hmmmm… https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/slayer-prepares-to-announce-last-ever-u-s-leg-of-final-tour/
do you guys dig primus? i never really got into them.
Primus are awesome although i havent dug their live show cause they kinda turn into a jam band at least they did the last two times i saw them
The first handful of Primus albums are fantastic, later ones not nearly as good. I’ve seen them live a few times. They put on great, fun show. However as grumps noted, they can turn into a bit of a jam band these days.
I did see Slayer a couple months ago. Only show I saw this year. I couldn’t have cared less about the openers at the time. So sort of cookie monster fronted death metal bands, Cannibal Corpse and a couple other bands that need not bothered to show up. Anyway, Slayer was really enjoyable. Left with two impressions. I’m glad Slayer is supposedly retiring. They are getting old and no longer “dangerous” . I’m getting old and no longer “dangerous.” Slayer was good as always though. Just time to hang it up. Ditto with some nameless industrial rocker who has a propensity for lip syncing.
We did get to meet Gary Holt briefly after the Slayer show. Seemed like a pretty decent fellow.
Cool, I’d go just for Ministry and Primus. I’ll echo that their 90s albums are all gold (even the one with Fred Durst and the South Park guys guesting on it for some ungodly reason) though I can’t speak for their live shows since I’ve never seen them.
I just worry that Slayer’s inclusion will mean the tickets end up costing a million dollars and I have to buy it off a scalper or something, all for a band I don’t even really enjoy. Slayer’s got some good songs but personally I don’t get the obsessive hype and feel like most of their output is just painfully boring and cringy. I’d see them live just to say I did, but not if I have to pay what people usually charge for those tickets after the scalpers buy them all up. Time to wait and see I guess.
Yeah, this is going to be a great show. Can’t wait!
Just got tix for Asheville…i fly up there every year so I might as well catch this show while I’m there…
Got 2 tix at MSG…I have an extra tix as of now so if anyone is interested… Right above the gen admin seating.
Aside from NYC it’s mostly second tier towns. Kinda weird.
revco, i’d go with ya if i was up there. have fun.
Just got my ticket. $112 with fees for a nosebleed seat. The only reason I’m going is because I love all the bands (two of them, Primus and Ministry, are in my top 10 bands ever), so I can rationalize the price as a kind of “package palooza” thing. Kinda reminds me of the clever package tours that used to come through NYC. Literally everyone I’ve met in the tri-state area was at that Helmet / Rollins Band / Sausage gig decades ago.
As far as Primus live goes: I’ve seen em many, many times, and yes, they’ve become something of a jam band. However, they can still lay the smack down when they want to, and I think, knowing their audience on this tour, they’ll really deliver the goods.
I personally wouldn’t call Primus a “jam band”…I mean they sometimes have sections with long instrumental passages but it never feels jammy or noodley to me like a band like the Dead or Phish or Widespread Panic or that ilk…I’ve seen Primus many times and they never disappoint…will be a fun show…
Also have seen Slayer a number of times…always a good show…the most violent pit I ever saw was a Slayer show in 92…pure homicidal maniacs were in that thing…of all the hundreds and hundreds of shows I’ve seen it was the only time I’ve been truly terrified at a concert…
They added a 2nd Forum show because the first sold out so fast. Fucking scalpers ate up all the good tickets through the 15 pre-sales. (Like what happened at that first Misfits show)
I’m not sure who decided to make half the floor seating, but it’s a terrible idea. That is going to be a disaster.
Looks like they’ve added “No Devotion” to their setlist.
Ooh, nice!
It’s been too long since they slipped some RevCo in.
