Ministry Camp Relations....

Having a chill day here at work which allowed me do do a little surfing. I was on chris’s site and ran across this interesting topic…

http://www.chrisconnelly.com/interact/boards/viewtopic.php?t=1008

It pretty much says things (from a first-hand perspective - Chris’) that I have always been confused on. The Paul thing. AL’s new wife. Chris’s thoughts on the latest revco - why didn’t he tour, etc.

How about that…he talks to his fans.
Is that allowed?

Thanks for the info, I’ll have to check back later.

yea hair jokes are getting old but chris is right about that “nobody of the old members decieded not to do it”.

chris is not the only one though - rieflin and washam were pretty negative about al in their interviews too; they just happen to be without own websites and forums to talk about it alot

chris also said that al “fucked him over” on chris’ 10% of royalties or something like that, so that means it was probably connelly who was accused of steailng?

i don’t like connelly’s solo work, i dunno what people find so “great” about his music; as a ministry/cocks singer he was indeed great, but as a solo artist… meh.

it was a nice idea to get other classic cocks back together in action without al under a different name, in my opinion they should definately do it.

If your talking about the Connelly site interview, Chis intimated that Paul was accused of stealing by Jourgensen and his wife. It wasn’t terribly well written but after a read or two you certainly get the gist of what he is saying.

that’s exactly the bit i was talking about, damn, now i get it, yea.

It’s not surprising why none of the old crew will work with Jorgensen any longer or why there is such rapid turnover in the “hired help”.

funny how mike scaccia is still shreding with ministry. but then again i guess he is called to record a solo or two on the album and play the tour.

Huh. Being called a thief by someone who had a raging drug habit. Good one.

oh yes, and besides that it’s now kinda funny because right when they announced the split (paul leaving ministry), al spoke pretty mellow laidback stuff about it. like “we’re staying friends, blah blah blah”. then all of a sudden in one interview, paul is declared like “a fuckin’ hired employee”, “just a fuckin’ bass player” in another.

i liked this one from al about paul: “i never wanna hear from that guy again! people think that he was ministry, while i was hiding in the background, fucked up on smack”. yeeeeah right.

Al and Angie = John and Yoko.

to a degree, yeah. john also had his head up his ass with his “messages” and other “perfomances”. forget messages… just take a fucking guitar and play and sing from your heart. but no, today you gotta start some lame political campaigns and brag about moron bush every chance you get…

but in any way, ministry is al’s band/project after all. so he may do what he want with it… but it is sad to see what ministry turned into.

any guesses on the lineup for “the last sucker”???

It’s really sad that the members from the golden age are kicked to the curb or even accused of stealing?!?. Consider that Barker, Connelly, Rieflin et all are a large reason as to why the “band” had the success it did.

i comepletley agree with you here. And guys…i know some of you get tired of the “golden age” talk… but to me personally i felt that chris, bill, and paul had a MAJOR effect on what was going on at the time. i’ve never spoken up about paul after he “left” but them again i didn’t because i never knew EXACTLY what “was said”(in fact, i still dont’) but chris’ small posts do lend to me having a good idea of how things went down. i also like chris’ view on being “Good poeple” - i’m the same way. if you’re a good person i’ll do anything for you - but if you fuck people - then fuck you. its simple karma - which I am a firm believer in.

jizzwad actually made a good point by saying a drug addict accusing someone of being a theif. it doesn’t add up.

about chris’solo work - i like some of it, and some of it is hard for me to grasp. i think whats great about him is that he get’s to do what he wants, and works with with people he repects. that’s true success IMO.

agree with that. also i’m waiting for some paul barker releases… i just hope he will make some songs, you know, that have melodies and lyrics in them, besides possible releases of lead into gold and pink anvil stuff that max brody mentioned… would love to get an album in the vein of “useless”, “stolen” and “vex + siolence”.

any guesses on the lineup for “the last sucker”???

Same lineup as RGB + Joey on drums. Straight from the horses mouth.

I hope you’re right but I know that Slipknot will hit the studio in january and start to work on their next album. So if not “The Last Sucker” will be recorderd this fall, I don’t think Joey will make it.

Scaccia, Phildo, Van Acker, Biafra - they all seem to be OK with Al. Scaccia and Phildo were on the outs with him for a long time too, IIRC.

Gotta wonder what happened in the last couple of years, huh?

Sounds just like the Sphinctour date I saw.

i remember talking to al in 2003 and he stated that Ogre is a good and dear friend, and while he has not heard from cevin Key in many years Al still has the utmost respect for him and his music

I’m guessing that Cevin wasn’t too thrilled when Al got involved during the Rabies sessions? Fascist Jock Itch and Tin Omen both sound like somebody’s friend ‘popping in’ to disrupt the record. Not the greatest collection of SP songs anyway (except for Rodent and Worlock, which are amazing).

Ironically a lot of people consider that to be their best album, just because its more metal oriented. Sometimes I wish Ministry never became mainstream back in the early 90s and industrial music never became ‘married’ to metal as a consequence.

I remember an interview somewhere in the last couple of years with Al when he played with puppy spur of the moment in New York. Bill Morrison had to show him how to play Tin Omen again backstage as he had forgotten [:)] As for Cevin, Al had said he wasn’t sure how they would get along after not seeing one another since 1989 or 90, but everything came off fine. It’s a shame though that the planned tour with puppy didn’t go down.

It always surprises me when I hear that, but I guess it depends on who you talk to, what message boards you visit, what your friends say, etc. When I hear Rabies, I hear a lot of subpar music with cheap-sounding drums and samples (w/exception to the aforementioned tracks). That album lacks - among other things - the sonic density of the three previous albums. I remember being disappointed when I bought it in '89, thinking that they’d hit their creative peak w/VIVISectVI. Songs like “Hexonxonx” have dated so poorly, that I’m surprised they played it live on the last tour.

I guess if a new SP fan started with that album, that would set the barometer for what they’d expect from the other albums. Hell, I’ve read SP fans online talking about how crappy Mind: TPI is, and how overrated VIVISectVI is. I happen to know a couple of people who think Too Dark Park is the quintessential Puppy album. For me, Mind, Cleanse, and VIVISect is their trifecta of greatness (my mind always changes on which one of those is their best).

I disagree about songs like “Fascist Jock Itch” and “Tin Omen” sounding out of place on Rabies. I think they fit in perfectly with the rest of the record.

You want out of place? Try “Testure” on VivisectVI!!! That song sounds completely different than the rest of the record.

I dunno I always enjoyed Rabies and find it to be one of their best releases. Love songs like “Hexonx” or however you spell it. Sure they sound dated but I think they are awesome.

VivisectVI to me is overrated in some aspects. Good album, innovative as hell, but all that distortion sounds too muddy to me…

My fav. Skinny Puppy stuff is Last Rights, Too Dark Park, and some stuff of of The Process. Liked their new album Greater Wrong of the Right a lot more when I first got it and was into that “Industrial” trancey type stuff…now after hearing the back catalogue I’m reallly not too impressed with it.

I always thought Rabies by Skinny Puppy was good not their best. Skinny Puppy did not even have a tour to support the album I always found that odd… After Reading all these comments about Al from everyone including from Chris Connolly, I don’t know what the hell to believe and whats bullshit. Never met Al and would love to meet him one day and have a nice cold beer with him. My opinion is Al’s career is amazing from the start to whenever it ends. He for one has been fighting the powers to be from the very beggining. Even though with sympathy did suck hairy balls. I’m just glad that ministry has never turned into Metallica. What a disgrace and total embarassment that Metallica is now. Rio Grande Blood at the very least destroys everything in its path. Rio is not my favorite album but not my most hated … [cool]
I think ICUDFLSU should be put on DVD without a doubt, it should be mandatory. Maybe that will be possible because Al has 13th planet records now his own record label. I haven’t posted in a while because I have been working 14 hour days for weeks now. I’m drinking a rum and coke right now and lost track how many I have had!!![:P] So cheers to everyone and AFRA you fucking rule man!!![cool][cool]

That’s just…it’s NEVER going to happen.

I like Ministry still, actually really liked the last album (though lyrically I thought it was rather bad [may I note this has nothing to do with the message]). Regardless I to have to go with the notion that the glory days long passed…in fact I have thought and continue to think that Ministry hit 69 and then dropped and began to stagnate (picking up again only recently).

I actually think that if you got the core of the glory days back together (Paul, Rieflin, Chris…) you’d get something that was not only once again inventive, but probably damn good as well.

This isn’t to say Al is nothing without them, but more so that he doesn’t make up for the sum of the parts that once were.

I always thought Rabies by Skinny Puppy was good not their best. Skinny Puppy did not even have a tour to support the album I always found that odd…

That was nearly the end of Skinny Puppy. Al and Ogre were completely loaded up on heroin a lot of the time, straining his relationship with cEvin Key and DR Goettel. This is why both camps pretty much did side projects around that time.

and as odd as this sounds, it’s kind of good that they weren’t on best terms in terms of output, we’ve got Doubting Thomas, Hilt, and eventually another Tear Garden [cool]

I’m pumped about vault series 2
