Isn’t there supposedly a new Skinny Puppy and a new Download out next year?
new SP this winter/spring.
new Download TBA next year, i believe.
Well I believe in the old adage of two sides to every story. And certainly there is another side, but Ang and Al are thankfully far too professional to post theirs on a public forum.
But if you are to post it on a public forum, don’t make sideways comments pretending you are trying to be polite and nice about it - that’s just so damn anal.
Say it how you really see it or don’t say anything at all.
Nothing worse than dropping a few hints guiding people into your way of thinking without giving any facts to back it up. Chris’s child-foot-stamping comments are just a bit crap and nothing worth gossiping about. Yeah, yeah so original Cocks aren’t still playing (except the one that counts), nothing unusual there for such a long running band, people move on, grow old, change etc…
What matters is do you enjoy the music? Even if we’d had the original line-up, betcha many would still find shit to bitch about.
And yes, junkies are re-knowned for being thieves, doesn’t mean they are immune from being done over themselves. Infact, what better target than a person who’s too fucked up to know his arse from his elbows? I’m not implying anything by that, btw, just a thought.

i disagree

i agree
I actually think that if you got the core of the glory days back together (Paul, Rieflin, Chris…) you’d get something that was not only once again inventive, but probably damn good as well.
Really? It’s rather debatable as to whether or not any of the above mentioned have done anything of interest outside of the ‘glory days’ (being '88 - '93). I think it’s fair to say that these guys have run the full length of their collective schtick.
Best to leave them to their own devices and see what, if anything, turns up.
As they say…you can’t ever go home again.
This isn’t to say Al is nothing without them, but more so that he doesn’t make up for the sum of the parts that once were.
Al got all the attention during that period because he was the frontman. He was also the most typically ‘rock star’ oriented (ie photogenic and on some form of illegal pharmaceutical). Perfect fodder for the MTvers, hungry for new blood. Someone to fill the void left by the Axl Roses and Sebastian Bachs of the late eighties. He was perfect for the role.
But the most talented member of Ministry, I agree, he was not.
“Treason” “I consider him a brave man” “Exercise in futility”?! Good God, these sure are strong words to use on a rock band message board. Perhaps the meds aren’t kicking in properly…
Cripes, the whole Jizzwad response reminds me of those tracts that George the roommate would write in the old “Hate” comics.
I’ll return to lurking now.

HA! [laugh][laugh][laugh]

He kinda, you know, STARTED the whole thing too.
i think saying Al filled the Rockstar void Axl Rose left for the mtv generation is a bit ridiculous. Even at their peak of popularity Ministry weren’t that big and I doubt your average joe who dug Psalm 69 could even name anybody in the band beyond “that guy with dreadlocks and that guy with glasses”.

Well fair enough, is it not all in the past now anyway? Gossiping online is all well and natural, but I don’t think anyone can draw any huge conclusions from the little info we have here that’s all. I’m really happy with recent releases and it’s irrelevant to me who’s in the band and who isn’t, but then I’m one of those that can happily listen to an ablum for months without even reading what the track list.
