Megadeth meets Ministry for 2008 tour

This is good news:

MINISTRY mastermind and industrial metal pioneer Al Jourgensen has revealed the band’s lineup for its final tour, which is expected to kick off early next year. It is as follows:

Al Jourgensen - Vocals
Jimmy DeGrasso (MEGADETH, Y&T, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES) - Drums
David Ellefson (MEGADETH, F5, TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY) - Bass
Tommy Victor (PRONG) - Guitar
Sin Quirin (THE REVOLTING COCKS) - Guitar
John Bechdel (FEAR FACTORY, KILLING JOKE) - Keyboards

Anyone know why Raven isn’t on the tour?

Mrsjay is not confirming this…so it might be bogus.

Dave Ellefson? what the fuck?

Scenario…

Barker, Connelly, Rieflin, Scaccia and Acker announce they’re touring as RevCo Soundsystem, and they’re playing in your town the same night as Ministry. Who do you go see?!

Sad that I’m even THINKING that question…

revco sound system in a heartbeat. I’ve never had an interest in Megadeath or that whole thing so if this is the lineup, I mean, I GUESS I’ll go since it’s ministry’s “last tour” but looks like we’re going to be hit over the head with only recent material.

Mrs. J says she doesn’t know where this comes from and is not confirmed. Awesome. I was really baffled why it had no mike scaccia or paul raven. this line-up would suck for final ministry tour.

Get the feeling that while uncomfirmed…it’ll probably turn out to be true anyhow?

I’m guessing if Raven’s not included it’s because he’ll be busy with his new band. I can’t remember their name, but I saw their Myspace page recently.

the question IS, “Where’s MIKEY(scaccia)?” maybe he too is too busy with his own projects to care anymore. not surprising

lets take a tally of the persona non grata over the years:
frank nardiello (long ago buddy of al’s was called back to tour with TKK /cocks and left with a bad taste in the kisser),bill rieflin(left because al wouldn’t pay him his due), chris connelly, ogre(probably egos),lee popa(definitely egos), steve spaperri, paul manno, chris connelly, dan field, alex field, critter, rey washem(didn’t get paid), max brody(ego/pay),chris connelly, paul barker. yeah chris appears more than the rest, because he’s been shamelessly called back a couple of times, when the going(vocals) got tough.
i wouldn’t be surprised if mike scaccia is now on the shit list. i don’t personally know. mikey was always alright. and one of the best guitarists. sober or not.and last i saw, he was sober. amazing.

it reminds me of Louis Svitek. what happened to him? can’t think he did not influence the FP and DSOTS sound

I honestly don’t know what makes you think he did. He was just a hired gun from the Psalm 69 sessions. What influence did he have on the songwriting process?

The only one of the above group that is really missed is Washam. He added a more progressive drumming style that did impact Ministry’s sound. Listen to his drum work on Dead Guy, Game Show, Lockbox, and Impossible and tell me that didn’t have a profound impact on the song structures.

Much different from the programmed drum sound from the latest Ministry CD. Rieflin was just more formulaic and repetitive, wasn’t the least bit innovative with his drumming, and is easilly replaced by a drum machine.

The only ones that miss him are the soft skulled saps who can’t let go of the gay 80s.

yeah you mention many talented people here. Sad that none of them are involved anymore. Is it fair to say that Ministry was mostly AL & Paul and then the others above got called in when the basic ideas/tracks were created?

agreed. washam’s drumming was prolly the best in the set. i don’t really like the obviously programmed sound we’re hearing on the new record. too bad. i miss two drummers.

Without a doubt, Washam was the best drummer Ministry ever had, although he wasnt popular with the metal crowd since he didnt use a lot of double bass etc. Still, his drumming style was far more interesting than any other drummers that the band had. Whats up with Washam nowadays anyway?

Washam lives in L.A. as a session drummer with his wife and recently-born son.

re: Louis Svitek
I’m in the throws of putting an exclusive prongs interview on here with him soon. Stay tuned.

I don’t know about most of those guys, but Frankie was clearly REALLY fucked up on that Ministry tour. The guy could barely mumble his way through the TKK songs and Al dropped JBMHR from the Ministry setlist pretty quick when he realized there was just no way Frankie could handle it. A shame really.

it’s hard to say in retrospect , but yeah, mostly al and paul. and the circus of guest appearances. as far as frankie goes ,on that tour,he was ready to leave early on because he got no respect. that’s a minor problem when you’re touring as a solo act. it’s a major problem if you berate other acts, or don’t show up for the perfunctory listen in on the opening act/acts.i don’t personally know who showed up to see TKK if anyone. the whole long list of politics went way beyond basic touring etiquette. and yes, there is such a beast–unspoken, unless you’ve been there.
rey does in fact live in LA. and may be working with some other former ministry personnel.
stay tuned.

If we’re referring to the Evil-Doer Tour, I was excited to see TKK. Until I got there and heard they’d been dropped. I didn’t like the wanna-be German act (except when Mark Baker got on stage and sang “Ich Bin Uber-Alles” with them), so yeah, I was disappointed. And they still closed with JBMHR, even without Frankie - Al sang it, wretchedly as always.

No one can seem to pull that song off live…it’s worse than TV Song, I tell you.
