Megadeth meets Ministry for 2008 tour

Did we end up with an MP3 of Gibby singing it live (I can’t remember) or did anyone see that? Was he able to do it right live?

Or did he even perform it live recently? Am I on crack? (no, I’m not [laugh])

I’d personally love to hear Al vocalize JBMHR.
I don’t think I would ever laugh harder while listening to music.

i don’t personally know who showed up to see TKK if anyone.

Well I personally went to the show with a couple of friends who came SPECIFICALLY to see TKK and left immediately thereafter (it was election eve and one of them had to wake up early to work the polls) and I felt really bad for them since they paid to see a band at the sad nadir of their existence.

I’ve seen TKK three times over the course of the last 10 years or so, and it’s been a decline in quality each time. Sadder still because Frankie’s a super nice guy who hung out with the fans for a long time after one of the shows (my fiancee’s got a picture of him with her and as many other fans as they could squeeze into a photobooth - it was entertaining).

So…

Let’s get this into some sort of perspective:

Ministry (one of my favourite bands - if not THE favourite - from 92 - 95), a one time industrial metal force majeur and every indie/noise critic’s wet dream band, is now composed of…ahem…approximately two thirds Megadeth and Fear Factory. Add to this the fact that lately, their turgid musical output makes Motorhead seem lyrically challenging, and you have yrself one helluva bad dream that yr unlikely to ever wake up from.

How the mighty have fallen!

From once upon a time touring with the Jesus Lizard and making fucked up sound collages with William Burroughs to … Space Truckin with Megadeth.

!!!

isnt that the same shit that plays in the intro to Sphinctour?
In that case its Morricone. I might be completely wrong though since I never heard the Mesa show…

The one on Sphinctour is “Happy Dust,” a b-side that wasn’t released until three years later, with Bad Blood.

It does sound like Morricone’s Western work.

There are quite a few boots floating around that have AL do JBMHR. I usually skip it

Now for something truly fucked up, Al pretty much makes up the words on the fly to Thieves at the '96 Mesa show because of the assholes throwing shit up on stage.

The question I have though, who does that absolutely swinging intro tape to the '96 Paradiso show? I just have to know. It’s killing me.[/reply]

I forgot about the Mesa Amp show in '96. Probably my least memorable Ministry show. I do remember Al chanting something like “Mesa Faggots” during Thieves, and him being pissed off at the end of the show. Was just a crap show overall, but then my enthusiasm for Filth Pig was pretty non-existant at the time.

i meant who of the other personnel on tour bothered to come out and watch TKK. if you’re a stand up guy, you go see the support. even if it’s only for a minute.especialy if you’ve known the band for decades. loads of colorful stories about headliners who were too busy to put in an appearance.
as far as al doing vocals for a reworked version of JBMHR, let’s be real.gibby was hired because everyone felt he could do the job. al couldn’t and wouldn’t.
that song wouldn’t have happened without gibby’s vocals.

Anyone know why Raven isn’t on the tour?

damn good question, that’s the first thing that jumped out at me.

And I know it’s a far cry, but I gotta admit…it would have been nice to see a ditch effort put into bringin back some of the ol crew.
Rieflin on drums
Barker on bass (yeah I know, better chance of the apoc happening than that)
…fuck, there’s no Mikey even

I dunno, goin out…just would have been cool to see a Ministry onslaught (ala the Mind tour)

Scenario…

Barker, Connelly, Rieflin, Scaccia and Acker announce they’re touring as RevCo Soundsystem, and they’re playing in your town the same night as Ministry. Who do you go see?!

Sad that I’m even THINKING that question…

I hate to admit the answer to that question…but I’d go see what best represented the Ministry I love to me…and in this case, it’d be missing a certain founder.
