Just listened to it, not bad, not amazing. Some class guitar from Brent, but if you didn’t like The Hunter there’s probably no hope of you liking this one.

Your friend has summed it up perfectly. It’s not bad, and i know a lot of people hated The Hunter, but i much prefer The Hunter to Once More Round The Sun. There’s not much of a sense of adventure to this one, it’s too straightforward for Mastodon. It’s too poppy and accessible, i can imagine a normal person actually liking this one. It’s a decent enough record, but i’m hoping they knock another, better album out soon. I don’t know if i would be arsed to actually pay to see them tour this album, but i’ve seen them quite a few times already anyway and could probably do with a break.
I gave the new one a few listens. I really track 2 & 3. Don’t get the first track…not good. The rest is okay. Better than The Hunter.

Yeah, i listened to it quite a few times myself and enjoy it a lot more now. I’d definitely still prefer something more in the style of Blood Mountain, Leviathan or Crack The Skye.

I love the song, but the video’s a piece of shit. Twerking fat-arsed “bitches”? I don’t get the humour of it, not that it really matters. It doesn’t offend me or anything, i just think it’s balls. Can’t wait to see them yet again in November, what a band.
