How I’d love to know the opinions of his version of Highway To Hell hahaha.
I’m digging Born Villain. I’m certainly downloading it tomorrow. Only trax I don’t really care for are Children Of Cain and Breaking The Same Old Ground. No Reflection is also growing on me and Flowers Of Evil is rather mediocre. But the rest is his best work since Grotesque hands down. Disengaged, Lay Down Your Goddamn Arms and Murderers Are Getting Prettier Every Day are my favorites. And they’re all back to back to back.
That’s a pretty awful setlist. He still seems to think people want to hear all the pop hits, when maybe people appreciate his other less well-known stuff and would like to hear it instead. Last time i saw him he was supporting Iron Maiden, 5 years ago or more, and he was fat, useless and tired, and so was the setlist. I don’t see that much different in the new one either.
It’s sad, i used to love Manson, but now he’s a big fuckin’ blobby parody of himself, getting by on playing the same old shit over and over and over. What the hell’s all this love stuff he’s banging on about? I’d like a bit of strength from him now, he’s too obsessed with exposing his weaknesses and moaning over bad relationships. If i want that i’ll listen to fucking Katy Perry.
I haven’t heard the new album yet, but everything after GAOTG was unlistenable, self-pitying shite. I hope for the best from the new one, but opinion here sounds mixed and i haven’t worked up the nerve to listen to it yet. I think he should try to record something a bit more heavy and abrasive and try to get back to where he was in the mid-90s, it’ll never happen, but i can dream.
Until i listen to Born Villain i’m going to have to stick to my long-held view that he should just stop recording for a couple of years and build up an strong set of tracks. The way it is now reminds me of Oasis; every time an album’s about to come out, he claims it’s the best one yet, but a few months later he’s saying it’s crap and the next one will be better. Forgive me, Mr Manson, but at this point you are the rock-star who cried wolf.
Yeah “King Kill 33” is def a rip off of “Lava” with a more simplified version of the bassline and a faster tempo. I enjoy both songs a lot, “Lava” obviously being far superior.
I’m listening now and “Lay Down Your Goddamn Arms” sounds an awful lot like “Filth Pig” in parts. I mean that in a good way.
The only other song so far that’s really snared me is “Slo-mo-tion.” But this is a first listen, so we’ll see how it holds up.
So much for 6-7 songs off of Born Villain and a huge chunk of Antichrist. Nice to see mOBSCENE and Personal Jesus back in the setlist but I’m highly disappointed.
Slo-Mo-Tion is the closest to the Portrait sound since Wormboy. The guitar isn’t all chugga-chugga-chugga, that keyboard drone that Gacy liked to use is laced throughout the chorus, and he isn’t bitching about his love life.
[reply]I don’t agree either. his cover of I put a spell on you is fuckin awesome!!
Hell yeah!!!
I like 5-6-7 of the new album but overall is quite dull. I just wish that jeordie do another goon moon record, that would be excellent.[/reply]
I had no idea twiggy had a side project… I just listened to apple pie on you tube… that was great I’ll definitely pick up goon moon.

video, whatever, but the song is not bad… the first thing of his (theirs) that’s captured my interest since astonishing panorama of the endtimes. probably cos it sounds a bit like antichrist/mechanical animals.
yeah and there is always someone who has to point out that it’s an old joke…just as cliche…
And then there’s always someone who thinks that someone else pointing out how their old unfunny joke is somehow cliche makes them better than the person pointing it out the said unfunny old joke.
