Manson names new cd

Listened to ‘We’re From America’… underwhelming. I’d hope the other tracks are better. It just seemed like a half arsed effort.

“Armagoddamnmotherfuckinggeddon” is pretty good. Could have gotten a fair amount of radio play if this was 2003 and there wasn’t so much swearing in the song.

Nowadays I personally don’t hear any modern rock that isn’t tepid bland shit like Finger Eleven or whatever the fuck on the radio, squeezed in between the new Lady GaGa and some piece of shit black person singing with autotune.

Yeah I think ‘Holy Wood’ was really the last great one from the band (AWESOME bass lines on that album!).

bass-wise i think twiggy ran out of ideas on that one, although it has some nice bass stuff, but overall, the peak was acs/ma. bass-wise too; even portrait has some really neat basslines.

as for grotesque, it was shit. eat me drink me was as crappy.

i really thought they could get “it” back when twiggy was in the fold again, but the leaked tracks seem to show otherwise. maybe it’s just demos though as was pointed earlier. we’ll see when the album’s released.

I’ve been led to believe that these are the final mixes from a six track promo disc. And I think whomever said they’re demos is just pulling a jourgensen when they say “not finished”, and when the actual thing does comes out, it’ll be the same. And we all know the ministry camp has done that a few times. “You downloaded an early version. The final version will be much different”. LIES! FAIL!

Funny thing about these songs are that 4 out of 6 leaked, and some people claim or infact have them, and are playing games with others and being totally dick about it (ETS forum). But i’m really under the impression that the final versions of the album won’t be too different from these tracks. And the only difference there’s supposed to really be, to begin with, is the mixing. Musically, the album’s done, but someone’s claiming these are early mixes and sound nothing like the final versions. And immediately, that reminded me of what happened with The Last Sucker and I think the last Revco.

I actually like some of these songs though. Four Rusted Horses is a very good song. Arma-goddamn-mother-fucking-geddon, is a fun song. The Wow is interesting, but nothing to really say WOW about, and We’re From America just plain out sucks. How this album’s supposed to be a rehash of ACSS is beyond me, but it’s at least sounding better than Eat Me, Drink me, which was just horrible from beginning to end.

Yeah I pretty much agree with most of what you’re saying LordPiko (I too have been lurking at ETS, where I got those leaks from). I don’t understand why the fuck “We’re From America” was chosen as the first official preview on the band website. It is decent but the lyrics are shit and the song should be fleshed out more with additional layers and instrumentation. Seems like a lowbrow “anthem” that Manson wrote as a crowd pleaser with a vague political message finally addressing the conflict in the Middle East like 8 years too late.

The comparison to ‘Antichrist Superstar’ is done with almost every album to boost sales lol. At least there is a bit of screaming on “Armagoddamnmotherfuckinggeddon”… I wouldn’t want a full on screaming album at this point anyway because I don’t think his voice could handle it live.

As for the demo thing, yeah I agree it’s probably a bit of a Last Sucker kind of thing (I actually saw your post in the thread on ETS and was amused someone would bring “Uncle Al” up in there … small world …). But if you notice, “The Wow” is much quieter than the other ones so those can’t be the final mixes. I’m hoping there is quite a difference between those mixes and the final ones in terms of there being more instrumentation, but I’m as doubtful as you are.

At best, they’ll definitely work on the volume levels of the layers a little more if anything. But if there’s a promo disc already out and about, what more is there to really do? I think the case of these leaks is that some are just shitty rips, which will make the album look a lot better in the long run. The quality of Wow and Armaggedon are a little weak, so i’m thinking whomever ripped and leaked these did a shitty job, and the final product will actually sound better.

And nice to see to caught my jourgensen reference there, heh. Seemed pretty relevent at the time so I figured why not? Same thing just about, except we’ve only gotten four songs instead of the entire album like we have the last few ministry albums and so on.

And lyrically, these songs are god-awful - all of them, but Four Rusted Horses, which I actually really enjoy altogether. But I went into listening to these songs for the musical improvements over EMDM, which there were overwhelmingly. Lyrically though, manson’s just bitching like he did in EMDM, STILL!, with a few…or a lot of dirty ones thrown in. I don’t think we’ll get a good album lyric-wise from him again, but musically he had Twiggy and Vrenna (who just by himself is amazing, refer to Tweaker), so musically this album can’t really fail. Only downside I was really expecting was manson to be out of his head and lyrically fuck it up, but his vocals are actually not bad, and the music is pretty good (not counting We’re From America, which is just generic and crappy).

So my only downside is just the lyrics, which are easily ignorable. I thought the weirdness of The Wow was interesting at most, but again, the lyrics aren’t anything to say Wow about.

Cripes, is he still whining about the fact that chicks keep dumping him for a drug addict?

Anyway, I like Four Rusted Horses. The rest doesn’t impress me much. We’re From America is fair, I guess.

Now listening to Four Rusted… I find it far too boring, I’ll try that Armagoddamndingdong song next but so far, crap.

To each his own I guess. Four Rusted Horses kind of reminds me of Man That You Fear.

Meh.

Four Rusted Horses is passable I guess. Only just. Maybe something I could listen to while driving to work. The rest is average to (way) below average - especially ‘Arma-Goddamn-Mother-Fuckin-Geddon’ (insipid title btw) which is flat out stupid.

Hmmmm…yes indeed, teenage angst has paid off well.

Well here are the songs that have surfaced so far. Supposedly all but “We’re From America” (which is available for legal download as an mp3 from the new marilynmanson.com) are in demo stage because the final mixes have not leaked yet. I’m curious to hear all but Peligro’s thoughts on these!

Only one that stands out to me is The Wow…sounds like a track from Mechanical Animals to me. Dig the synths.

Arma-God-Whateverthefuck, nothing really special here. Same for We’re From America…yawn.

Four Rusted Horses is a lil’ boring but better than the last two tracks. It does have a Man That You Fear quality but nowhere near as good.

No Gacy, No Daisy, Manson loses…still a fan though.

Without Gacy there’s a huge difference. But since Daisy left (ages ago), there’s been better guitarists since. He was creative, but I think everyone and anyone after him was better. My favorites were either Zim Zum or John 5. Skold was cool, but I think if he were have to been allowed to really tinker instead of play the sad songs/ballads, he could have really been amazing.

I liked the stuff Daisy wrote, but apparently he was and is a lazy bastard. According to Manson’s book (not necessarily the most reliable source of information, I know) he didn’t get the Antichrist Superstar concept and just wanted to coast along on the stuff they’d already done, and according to people I know that know him, he basically just sits around his house in Florida living off money he made suing Manson.

It does expose how driven and creative of a guy the dude is though.

have you ever heard the manson and the spooky kids demos? sir brian and company have been reusing that material over and over for years…

That’s actually pretty accurate. I got the Spooky Kids demos discs he was (supposed) to put out in 2001 on CDr directly from him…he only released volume one, didn’t even bother to put out volume two (the one with the best stuff on it)…and he OWNS THE RIGHTS

I think the reason Spooky Kids 2 never came out is that he got a cease and desist from Mr. Manson. You see, he owns all those old recordings, but he DOESN’T own the old Spooky Kids artwork - all those little cartoons and whatnot. Manson does. But Daisy put that stuff all over the first Spooky Kids comp., he got slapped down, and I guess he never even bothered to try to make vol. 2.

that is lazy he could just change the artwork…Duh! flip the images and it’s new artwork!
