Mad Max 4

just watched the first one. good film. was really paying attention to Miller’s director style, and a lot of what he did in Fury Road is in Mad Max at times…the gorgeous scenery, cameras mounted on the car’s hoods facing into the car(a pretty unique technique at the time) , or onto the road. very cool.

it was certainly weird hearing Mel Gibson with an Australian accent, first time I’ve actually heard it! but, it was cool to see the beginning (middle? ) of the decline of civilization…cities were still there, but barren. the police force dwindling. gangs running about. at times, it reminded me of hints of A Clockwork Orange and The Warriors. oh, and the stunts that were in there? very cool.

a good story about a man struggling with morality, then pushed over the edge when his family is fucked with. when the 3rd reel hits, it’s when he finally embraces his feelings and becomes Mad Max. and you don’t fuck with Mad Max. hurting him only makes him more pissed off!

as a film from the late 70’s, it was certainly good. it was of it’s time for sure, but holds up pretty well for the most part. my only “gripe” with it was the score, which I think would have benefited with a synth score along the lines of Suicide or maybe even something like Goblin. it had the standard crime scene/superhero orchestra/horns of 70’s crime movies.but, I can’t really knock it too much.

looking forward to watching part 2, hopefully later.

finished Road Warrior…freaking awesome…way more next level than the first one. you can certainly see Miller’s style developing as well, his framing in this is excellent, his use of colors at times great as well, and the risks he took with the camera (the scene with Max dangling on the helicopter? awesome framing)

the last half hour of this film is like the entire Fury Road!

I like road warrior better than the first one too. Although, I think fury road is my favorite of the ones I’ve seen. haven’t seen thunderdome yet. but I will.

The last 1/2 hour of Thunderdome is ALSO like the entire Fury Road.

On the topic of visual enhancement . . .

That bit is homaged in LOTR: The Two Towers when the giant eagle thing picks Frodo up, i love the slo-mo there, with Gyro Captain saying “taaaaake it eeeeeasy pahtnaaahhhh”.

It was just as good the second time. Saw Avengers the day after my second viewing of Max and man did the movie suck in comparison. Should have discount theater waited.

Went and saw Fury Road a third time. Goddamn, what a great movie.

Soaked in bleach is better

Soaked in bleach is better

bleach soaked is better in.

pffffffttttt No way anything with Kurt Cobain is better. He doesn’t kick ass. He just whines about being famous.

full blooded coofin bleach

Seriously? This degenerate dipshit is actually going on a MAD MAX thread to jerk off about a movie about Kurt Cobain? Just when I thought his limits of irrelativity could never be exceeded he jumps the rail again.

I just figured he felt the need to pipe up about some moronic action movie that his full-blooded pea brain thought was somehow comparable to Mad Max . . . but, no, he’s slobbering on about Nirvana.

I guess I’ll start an AC/DC thread now so this mindless ballsack can let us know how much he loves fruit cocktail or the 1985 Toyota Tercel.

Climb back in your coofin and nail it shut, please, tearsofthegay.

I’m so sick of anything Nirvana related. It’s all old news and conjecture.

Once every 5 years or so I’ll go on an In Utero/Incesticide jag, then never think of them for another 5 years

I think far more about Mad Max than Kurt Cobain. I’ve seen the first movie now and thought it was pretty cool. Could see how the rad car filmography evolved from here. Have the other two but watching them slowly. Think I’ll see Fury Road a third time in the theater too. Would never see a Cobain movie three times

Fury Road was fucking bad ass, I thought. It went beyond my expectations and I was suprised that it wasn’t pussified like so many remakes and continuations are now. It was nice watching what felt like a legit action-film with no bullshit.

And the idiot posted a single sentence about a Nirvana/Kurt film - clearly to piss you guys off - and you went and took the bait like rabid morons.

I’m pretty sure you are giving him way too much credit.

Much too much credit.

full blooded credit

I saw it again twice this week, watched it last night with my dad, he loved it. It is as great as it was the first time round!
