This is the post where I’d be gushing over how Einsturzende Neubauten changed my life. Unfortunately, this was not to be and I’m still reeling in disappointment.
The last two days however were far from a loss. I made it to Faith No More at the Hollywood Palladium and they delivered a set that lived up to any expectation I could have reasonably had. The band sounded livelier than I’d think a group of guys who haven’t recorded or played in over a decade could sound. Afterwards, I ran into Roddy Bottum and had him sign my hand-splint! (i’m typing with my left)

Wow, Moon. I didn’t know you rolled with Obituary! That’s awesome!

Well you got a whole slew of old school Death Metal bands you gotta support . . .Obituary, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Death, Cannibal Corpse, and about a million more.
I saw Damage, Inc. yesterday. They’re a So.CA Metallica tribute band. I’d seen them a few times before in crappy dive bars and they rocked the house everytime. This show was at a swap meet and I was surprised at the huge turnout. I’d estimate that there was probably about 500-600 people there for the gig. There were two openers (Just Like Priest and Iron Maidens) but I didn’t see them.
I don’t recall the entire setlist, but I know these were played . . .
Battery
Creeping Death
The Day That Never Comes
Leper Messiah
Disposable Heroes
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Sad But True
Seek And Destroy

Grinderman in Seattle last month was really good. A bit short (just over an hour) compared to the last Bad Seeds tour, but it was really fun. More loops than I had expected (the albums have lots of loops but even things like rhythm guitar were looped, or on backing tape, in places live) - not in any way uncool, but unexpected. They were really cohesive as a unit. Great show.
The opening act was this very cool fellow: http//www.myspace.com/armenra …really impressive.
