Extra guitar. I dunno… Seems like he’s going to be remixing the hits. Please don’t pull a jourgensen, Sascha…

I’m starting to loser my faith in KMFDM if this becomes a habit. Light already has 10 remixes and we’re probably gonna get 5 more

We did get five more, heh. Ended up buying the tracks. Basically sounds louder, the upped the volume on a guitar track that was already there, but put low in the mix for whatever unknown reason. And En Esch’s vocal part sounds all weird, like fading in or out, or something. Just doesn’t sound right to me. The remixes are average at best. The Godlike mix wasn’t bad. This one is just turn up a guitar track, and fuck up Esch’s vocals.

Sascha pulled an Al years ago…i.e. he’s been making crappy music for close to 7yrs now.

I wouldn’t say that. Last few albums were slacking, but not horrific. It went from great to good to ok since he formed that new lineup. Personally, rather see a kmfdm album with just sascha. He did it on Money. He still has it, his production is usually top-notch. His direction’s been slacking though. But I actually liked Blitz a lot, probably thanks to Skold. He probably legitimately believes removing these songs are a good idea, and having fun doing it. That edit on Esch’s voice feels like a shot though.

With that part, he added a drum track with a lot of clicking or just decided to turn it up where you can barely really make out what esch was saying.

I lost my faith in KMFDM in 1999.

Really??? I think his production has been piss weak since Adios.

To be honest I grew tired of KMFDM when WWIII dropped and I sold the whole lot of their stuff. Every time they drop an album I listen to it out of nostagia I guess…afterwards I think to myself I honestly can’t remember why I thought they were good?

I just realized - this is all remixes of Light, isn’t it?
An hour’s worth of remixes on the original release wasn’t enough?

What a great way to celebrate the 16th Anniversary of one of KMFDM’s dull singles!!!

Oh so it’s true that Money was just Sascha all by his lonesome self eh?

Yeah even after all these years listening to it again, I noticed the notable absence of both Esch & Schulz in the album i.e lacked of guitar riffs & Esch’s deep growling vox.

So what were the two of them doing then (during the Money recording sessions)?

HA!!!

Love Light but Iall these remixes are overkill.

Not completely by himself Schulz co-wrote most of the album, but it’s odd that there’s not much guitar.

Here’s a little backstory on Money. The album was supposed to be called Apart and Sacha was gonna write half and Esch with the other. Unfortunately, Esch’s half was rejected by waxtrax bc they felt it didn’t sound enough like KMFDM. Those trax wound up on his solo album Cheesy and Schulz co-wrote those as well. Esch does have some writing credit on what became Money and did vox on one song. Esch’s half weren’t the only bsides from the album. The track Thank You from Agogo was supposed to be the album’s intro. Blood(12" Mix) and Split-Apart were also bsides that appeared on other singles.

I recently listened to Money and it’s pretty good. I’m very skeptical of the band without Raymond Watts, but Money actually impressed me quite a bit. Sacha doesn’t do his shameless self promotion in any of the songs which is something that turns me off about KMFDM. I hope to buy a copy soon and make it the way it was supposed to go. I listened to the trax that didn’t involve Esch and it’s gonna be hard to do it, but I will make Apart happen at some point

EDIT: As far as Esch’s vox being muffled, I’m guessing Sacha hasn’t let go of the bad blood between himself and Esch. I wish those two would kiss and make up. But then again Esch didn’t really contribute much after Nihil

Money was mostly Sascha. Schulz was on a decent bit, but musically and vocally, it was Sascha. Songs like Sex of the Flag and Vogue had zero output by Schulz. And the last album Esch REALLY contributed to was SYMBOLS. He’s all over the place on that one. On Nihil, he was pretty much just a backing vocalist aside from Revolution. He did play a lot of guitar on Nihil, though, as if I recall, he did the solos for Ultra, Flesh, and Search and Destroy.

But around the days of Naive, he was pretty much reduced to being just a guitar player and vocalist, rather than writing a huge chunk of the music as he did 86-90. In the credits from Naive onward, he was pretty much playing just guitar that’s barely noticeable, sadly. Waste of talent imo, as he’s easily far more of a better musician than sascha is.

En Esch’s post-KMFDM music is really good too.

did you see them lastnight? i was going to…but then i didn’t :P.

Money is the only thing I liked from KMFDM, besides the Godlike mix of Doglike - which, I’m sure was mostly Paul B’s talent there

Ah thanx man for the history lesson. appreciate it bro!

The last album that I liked was Hau Ruck.
Tohuvabohu was a huge disappointment. It was such a paint-by-numbers album… it really felt like they phoned it in. Blitz is better, but it’s still not super. It seems like they just keep writing the same song over and over with this line-up. I think Jules, the new guitarist is kind of a one-trick-pony, and that Sasha has been playing it safe and easy.

On the re-recording/re-mixing of old songs, I’ll say the same thing I said in the Chris Connelly/Burning Inside re-recording thread: I think it’s just boring.

Let’s forget about how crap KMFDM is and turn it into a KMFDM songs we like/liked…

Witness from Adios…that was totally cool when I first heard it. I haven’t heard it for years though so I may be wrong. At the time it sounded pretty unique though.

For me it was the techno dance track “Naive”. when I first heard it, I just can’t believe it was the same band that gave us the blistering opening act for Ministry 89/90 tour. [shocked]

I was amazed at the flexibilty & versatility of the band. it’s like they can adapt & absorbed any kind influences into their musik.
