Lemmy biopic in the works

This is one of my favorite ones from a few years ago.

Love Dillahunt! He’s such an under appreciated talent.

Agreed. Most directors/ producers will just go for the low-hanging fruit.
Not gonna give me something soulful and intelligent?
That’s okay. Just give me trash, hahhaaha!!!

Can we speculate for a moment, though . . . . I’ve not seen Todd Philips’ “Joker”, but from what I’ve read/ heard, it was dark and brutal but also made the villain a weirdly sympathetic character. I think this dude could really take the right approach. And, yeah, of course I know he directed “HATED”. Duh! So, I really think it would be interesting to have him tackle this. He’s already had both experience AND emotional investment into the subject matter and seeing as how he’s come from the documentary side into Hollywood feature . . . let’s see him go full circle and make the Hollywood feature from the documentary’s subject…

I thought about Todd Phillips yesterday when I was on this thread…I’m sure the idea had to cross his mind at some point to do a GG biopic…he night be too Hollywood elite now…most of his films do good business and i know Joker made a shit ton at the box office…we will probably still be on here in 10 years longing for a GG film hahaha

Joker was pure genius and its a damn shame warner bros doesnt consider it canon because its the best thing ive ever watched from the batman universe. You should make a point to check it out, gunnar

Yeah you should check it out…Joaquin was pretty spectacular in it…

Yeah, I do mean to watch it when I get a chance.
I think Joaquin is a self-absorbed mentally deficient doofus . . . but he’s an incredible actor. I’ll try and catch it this weekend. I think the rental price was a bit high for my blood when I checked earlier in the year, but maybe it’s more normal now.

I’ll third that recommendation on Joker. An incredibly powerful film that’s also quite timely. My favorite film from last year.

I honestly don’t know anything about the guy other than he was running a scam, apparently, about 15 years ago claiming he was a rapper or some shit. Some people thought he was having a mental breakdown or something. I think the only other thing I’ve seen him in was Gladiator(?) where he played some type of royalty. And the fact that I can’t be sure of the actual movie it was tells you how memorable he was. But Joker was absolutely stunning! A real character profile of a made up character… I.E. Joker is fake but if he were real this is probably how he would come to be if he were in real life.

The rapper thing was funny. I only loosely caught some of that saga, but it seemed like he was doing some sort of Crispin Glover / Mr. Brainwash mythical real time character portrayal that went off the rails. I’ll need to brush up and look into it. I never really looked close at it all but it sounded kind of interesting.

Yeah, he was going for a Borat style mockumentary. I watched it, it didn’t really work.

That film was a collab between him and Casey Affleck…they had planned that for a few years…I didn’t like it at first but on a second and third viewing it grew on me…found it to be a funny piss take of Hollywood elitist culture…I saw Joaquin in a bar once in Gainesville,Florida(don’t ask)back in the 90s…he walked in and sat by himself and had a drink…he hadn’t hit peak fame yet so nobody paid him much mind…that whole family might come off a bit sketchy having grown up in that fucking cult…same one Rose McGowan was a part of…that cult that none of those fucking kids asked for…thanks Mom and Dad for indoctrinating me in your fucking weirdo hippie cult!!!

Dude, I totally forgot that he was a PHOENIX first and foremost and those cards are what he’s always making a hand from. Very key point, thanks. And yeah, hippie weirdos, haha!

I saw a doc on that cult that was pretty exhaustive…trying to remember the name of it…some real dirty hippie shit going on for sure, bro…

Ahhhh, I was going to guess Children Of God. Yeah, super fucked up stuff. I’ve seen a few documentaries.

Id never heard of them until I searched “Joaquin phoenix grew up in a cult.”
I read that article before I posted it so the only point of reference I have is that article… Kinda seems like standard cult behavior… almost indistinguishable from the branch davidians and jones town
