I’ve never seen this before. The quality is pretty horrible but still, its an actual Lead Into Gold videoclip, with Paul on vocals and everything…

Thanks for the link! Looks like all of Ministry in the video - Rieflin, Atkins, Jourgensen (sporting a pancho, no less).
I was up late on Saturday night watching tons of videos on You Tube. All industrial/new wave/80’s stuff, but lots of videos I didn’t know existed. There’s a decent amount of Cabaret Voltaire videos, including some Code promos (Here To Go and Don’t Argue). The Don’t Argue video is terrible, since they chose to go with that horrible 12" remix of the song. There’s also a CV interview (circa '87 I think) with some nice live footage and a video for “I Want You”.

yeah this is the one off of the wax trax video comp. funny to see two druimmers when the song is from a drum machine.
Yeah its the same from the WT! tape, but this is oddly pulled from the MTV2 network… one of the earliest broadcasts I might add, probably sometime around 1997 or 1998. Freaky.
I’ve actually been looking for this to put on my Myspace lately (I rotate a “Video of the Week” regularly), but couldn’t find it anywhere. Thanks!
is it available to D/L at all or just stream? I’ll be getting the net again in a week, yay!
this link will help you download youtube videos:

but you will need a flv player and quality is awful.
also the only version i’ve got is 19mb avi file i’ve got from eMule/eDonkey p2p sharing:

FUCKING AWESOME!!! I’m glad I checked that video out! Who wrote the music???
i assume it was totally paul barker’s project and all stuff in lead into gold music/lyrics was all paul’s.
I actually have a nice copy of this video I encoded in DivX that I can share (and have shared before on eMule, but I don’t think anyone grabbed it).
My copy is from a first generation VHS dub off an original WT! video collection tape that I rented back when it came out (couldn’t afford to buy it at that point, unfortunately!). But it looks pretty damn good for that. Definitely better than the versions floating around off MTV (which I’ve seen).
Maybe I can get this to someone else (gila?) and they can spread it around. I’m on DSL now, so I’ve got much better speed.

That particular song was all Barker, which is why it amuses me that all of Ministry (at that time) and Trent Reznor are in the video. On the Age of Reason LP, there are two tracks that were co-written - “Age of Reason” was written by Paul and Bill Rieflin, while “A Giant on the Earth” was written by Paul and Al. I highly recommend Lead Into Gold for fans of synthy type music, it’s one of my favorite projects ever…both LP’s and a CD are currently available on ebay, or, you know, Soulseek…
Thanks, Chris, for the info! I’ll definitely check that out on soulseek. I was only wondering if they did a trick of the camera to make it look like there are TWO Paul Barkers or are they actually two different people? And who’s playing the bass if Paul isn’t? And I didn’t know that Trent knew how to play the guitar!
there is no real bass guitar in the song, just syth bass loop playing over and over.
And I didn’t know that Trent knew how to play the guitar!
He doesn’t. He plays it by memory as far as I know.
This was my rip,it was broadcast on mtv2 europe in 1999 and was part of Marilyn Manson’s choice. you can find it pretty easily on emule. sorry about the quality but it was my first ever rip, great video though and the song is an old favourite of my youth.
lol. what does that mean?

interesting…
Manson also said Pailhead is one of his favourite acts of all time.
Trent was just around in Chicago when they recorded this video and Barker asked him to join in the shoot. Trent had nothing to do with the recording process of Lead into Gold. I think it was one of the first videos Trent appeared in. And yeah, Trent just plays guitar by memory and is not a guitarist in the true sense. The guitar riffs on nin are usually nothing more than very simple power riffs anyhow.
I don’t know where the video was shot - I think maybe Medusa’s (an old club here in Chicago).

Interesting…I suppose he has good taste.

Would that be the same Medusa’s as the Revco show that’s making the rounds? Sounds like a cool venue, does it happen to still be around?

i’m not defending trent or anything but what does it mean?? i mean what’s “playing guitar by memory” and “not guitarist in the true sense.”?

heh, yeah, so what’s are ministry guitars then?
