KMFDM

What’s everyone’s thoughts on them? They got a new album coming out sooner or later. Anyone here follow that? One of the songs leaked; “Looking for Strange”. It’s ok, and cool they’re going with a more electronic approach, but it sounds a little weak, imo.

They just sorta sit in my rolodex as a decent Wax Trax band. Seen them twice, in '90 opening for Ministry, and headlining in '94. I like their albums between 89 and 93 mostly. Highlight songs for me are More and Faster, Vogue, A Drug Against War, and Blood. Angst is probably their best album, in my opinion. They’re really a one-trick pony, so most of their catalogue is indistinguishable. I seem to recall some fairly good stuff on the last two LPs, Hau Ruck and Attack. While I like KMFDM, I can’t imagine that they’re ANYBODY’s favorite band. I’d rather have 10 Damage Manual albums than 10 KMFDM albums. Not sure why I said that, but anyhoo…

I definitely enjoyed them more during the Wax Trax days than I do today.

1002

Angst is their best album without question. The’ve never even come close to matching it.

Granted I thought WWIII was their best effort since Angst.

I think the newer albums are good, but they seem lacking. The new one seems a little more “experimental”, if even. I’m more a fan of the 90s stuff, preferably the stuff along the lines of naive and money. Angst is a real good album as well. Just anything after 2002, i’m mixed about.

They definitely had their peaks and valleys. I really like Naive and Angst. They hit their peak with Nihil, Symbols was pretty good too. They were great live in 97 with all the guest performers. Other than a few songs (a few strong ones on WWIII and several of the Pig tunes), everything after Adios is pretty weak.

I follow them and have met them all a few times. The newer band/stuff doesn’t stick like the older tunes but Sascha definitely has pumped out a few good ones recently. I’m also a huge PIG fan (avatar) so it keeps me connected to them even though he’s not currently involved.

Check it out the new song & previews below:

I dig KMFDM, but Esch’s solo work outshines it in my mind. Tracks like “Confidence” and “The Past is Beyond Recovery” are nothing short of genius.

I do like the solo cd & Slick Idoit. I met him (twice) and he was very cool & humble…big dude in a dress…lol.

Two other songs have leaked from the new album. Saft Und Kraft and Superpower.

Saft Und Kraft is a stomping, thrashfest. Way better than Looking for Strange. Super Power…hmmm. Upon the first listen, I’m not really digging it.

ive liked them since “drug against war” video. I cant really say that the new songs are groundbreaking, but Ill prol grab the cd and see what the rest of the cd has instore. Dont need to buy the autographed ones, as they have already signed enough stuff, good guys.

Oh, i’ve always been more of a raymond fan than sascha’s (I am a fan of both). I’d prefer praise the lard over almost a good majority of kmfdm. Slick Idiot is pretty good, but lacks a little. And the vibe I get from nu-kmfdm and SI is that they need each other. Esch was a vital part of kmfdm and added a certain character. He was kind of the flava flav…heh So while slick idiot has the charisma and such. Sascha is a master of production.

I look forward to the album album though and have it pre-ordered. From the review i’ve read on it, it’s different in more ways then one, which is an awesome thing about kmfdm; combining different genres on a single album.

I’m amazed they’d even have a following.

I pretty much agree with everything bisquit said. Ogre was a great addition on the 97 tour as was Pig opening, but i thought the energy and track selection for the 95 tour was much much better. I have no idea why Life of Agony was opening for them then though.

I was a HUGE fan until Sascha decided to can Esch and Schulz and continue as the Sascha, Skold, and his girlfriend show (and shortly thereafter just the Sascha and his girlfriend show). Nothing he’s done in nearly ten years has been worth listening to, imo.

the preview of the tohuvabohu track seems like a nice one, but looking for strange is kinda meh.

we’ll see. i always see KMFDM when i can. i get drunk and entertained, plus they’ll always play light or drug against war or godlike or ultra or brute or etc etc. such a large backcatalogue of good shits for them to play.

Used to be a big fan but lost interest over the years. These days I’d rather listen to Ministry.

According to demonoid, the new album leaked. But so far there’s only one seed, but really it’s an upload; incredibly slow! I did, on the hand acquire those two songs. Superpower is just meh. Saft und Kraft, on the other hand is a little better, but if I really wanted to sit and listen to that, i’d just listen to ministry. It’s getting a little old to me.

Naive, Angst and Nihil are their best albums, with Symbols and Xtort following closely. Sure - KMFDM is goofy as hell and they have more than their share of absolute crap songs but they always put me in a good mood when I listen to them, so thats cool. Also - they never claimed to be experimental, original or anything like that - they always knew they were a pretty silly and fun band.

I wonder what their vaccum cleaner symphonies would have sounded like… hmmm…

I like what I’ve heard, yeah it’s not ground-breaking, but it is fun. I only have their beatbybeatbybeat dvd (is this official?) pretty cool. lots of duplicate stuff on there though. I have heaps of MP3s, couldn’t say which albums I like and which ones I don’t. I liked the couple of tracks I heard from WWIII.

Listened to the new cd a few times…typical newer KMFDM…it’s okay. Some German tunes, keys style sounds like skinny puppy at times. Plenty of Lucia on it.
