Heard three songs and wasn’t too impressed; maybe one of those albums to hear as a whole. Maybe tonight, i’ll acquire a copy.
Plenty of Lucia on it.
Is she any better now than she was with “Drill”?

Thats good, to me her songs are the clear highlight of post-En Esch KMFDM. She’s talented and her songs tend to be the most interesting on the last few albums…
wow, havent really been paying attention to kmfdm-related releases lately so I didnt even hear about that… I guess Ill check it out.

Ugh, gotta disagree with you there. Lucia’s presence has always smacked of a Lucy/Ricky thing to me. Al keeps doing the same thing, but to a much lesser extent.

Drill was okay…i enjoy “go to hell”. She’s grown into her own style of singing. So yes it’s better.

If that’s the case you may wish to check out KGC, if you haven’t already. Sounds like KMFDM with Lucia doing all the vocals.

KGC… the first two tunes kick!. Not such a fan of female singers in general but Lucia can impress me at times. I like a few of her lead songs since mdfmk.
I checked out that KLC album. Sadly, just like her solo album, this one only has a couple of good songs but otherwise is nothing to write home about. I seriously like her contributions to KMFDM though, she writes decent pop songs
I pretty much agree that their a decent band but everything after adios has been pretty terrible. I lost interest after en esch left.
Anyone here like slick idiot? Their last two albums have been more KMFDM than KMFDM.
Heh. I remember a little after Hau Ruck came out; I ended up listening more to Pig’s “Pigmata” and SI’s “Screwtinized”, which are definately better albums. Pigmata being the weakest Pig album ever, imo. Slick Idiot can be hit or miss, but there’s some real good stuff there though. I really geek out for that cheesy/pop synth part on “Forgive Me”. I need to check out the remix albums; I hear the last one wasn’t bad.
I like slick idiot a lot more because its basically KMFDM with a better singer and none of the terrible political lyrics.
Can’t say i’ve ever been that big of a fan of the lyrics on any of the albums. Slick Idiot just has character, while kmfdm just puts albums out just to do it. But I just got the new kmfdm, and i’m liking it; better than the last couple. But i’m definately looking forward for some new slick idiot as well.
I was a HUGE fan until Sascha decided to can Esch and Schulz and continue as the Sascha, Skold, and his girlfriend show (and shortly thereafter just the Sascha and his girlfriend show).
Sounds like another…familiar band, doesn’t it? [laugh]
I couldn’t resist, sorry.
KMFDM.
Worst.
Band.
Ever.
KMFDM has fallen down the rabbit hole, kind of like Ministry. Similar sounding albums lately. Though I suppose a bit more diverse in their sound than Ministry. Not as blatant thrash metal though.
KMFDM has had their moments over the years, both good and bad. Most of KMFDM’s best out put came from the 90’s though. The newer albums aren’t horrible, but not overly spectacular either. Attak I think was trying to be a throw back to the old days a bit, with at least the inclusion of Watts and Skold. That album had a nice range of styles that fit with some of the older KMFDM albums. After that is when they really started doing the more metal sound.
Lyrical they have gotten more preachy political wise, but like Ministry KMFDM has had tons of more political leaning songs anyway. Don’t know why the newer albums lyrics comes as that big of a surprise in the end.
Haven’t really gotten to check out En’s Slick Idiot material yet. Have one track and that’s a remix. Will have to check them out more at some point.
Wish I would have been able to have seen KMFDM live back in the day with En. Though I still try and catch them live for fun, as they seem to put on a pretty good show(at least for me) and like to throw you a curve ball every tour with some song from the past. Even if it isn’t quite the same as it used to be.
Sascha also has the tendency to be like Al in the sense of burning bridges with past members. He’s chased off En, Gunter, probably Skold and even seems Watts doesn’t want much to do with Sascha anymore. Considering the current KMFDM line up was Watt’s / Pig’s backing band.
listening to that new KMFDM record now. As usual, its nothing to write home about although there are a few things here and there that are pretty cool. For one thing, I can hear quite a few elements of old-school electro-industrial in a few of the songs.
I think since 2004, anything’s been more diverse than ministry. The album’s good, but like you said “it’s nothing to write home about”. I’m absolutely into the title track though; real good stuff there. But the rest and a little eh. It’s a good album but just comes off real average. People on one forum seem to be making a deal out of the last track; it’s the one of the best things kmfdm’s done? It’s good, but 1) not a huge fan of lucia and 2) it’s ok.
KMFDM is the ultimate hit or miss band. I don’t own any albums because I don’t like most of their material. The songs that do click, well, they are very good.
They don’t pretend to be a very diverse band. Just read the lyrics to “Intro”.
Oddly enough, the Lucia driven songs are the most interesting on Hau Rock and the new album. When she became a permanent memeber, I would have thought anything she was involved with would just be filler.
^ I really dig it. Has a groovy 80’s/ goth vibe. Like a great value Sisters Of Mercy. I love how crisp and hearable the vocals are. Definitely a catchy tune to get ya pumped up for some aggro dungeon dancing or a good parking lot brawl, haha!
