Some will hate this. However, I think it is a big lovely mess.
I’ve yet to hear a Killing Joke record I don’t like.
Yes, guys, even Outside the Gate.
Psyched.

My Love Of This Land is a cool song, Tiahuanaco is decent, the rest is a laugh riot.

America. love that cut. Stay one jump ahead, does make me giggle tho.
I like this cut. Waiting on EP/LP.
Interesting Raven interview in Melody Maker from May '88, where he discusses Gate:

What happened to the Industrial Suicidal Tribe EP that was supposed to be coming out right about now? It had some of the same tracks as the In Excelsis EP, but also the song “Industrial Suicide Tribe” remixed by Justin Broadrick.
I thought it was Lemmy singing at first…hehe. I like it but wish Jaz’s voice wasn’t so scratchy.
And here come Peligro with predictable criticism of new Killing Joke material in 3…2…1…
In a word: terrible

“Our most vital recording to date”?
Delusional? Anyone?

Jaz isn’t delusional…clinically insane maybe.
I wouldn’t judge too early on the record though…I’m pretty confident it’ll kick ass…especially when Youth is saying it’s incredible. Youth is a gentleman whose opinion on music I trust.
I’m definately picking up the double 10" as I’m a sucker for 10"s.
Endgame won’t even make the album by the way…it’s a throw away track…that is why we’re lucky enough to get it as a free download.
That EP’s just leftovers. It should be a real solid album that’ll knock us all on our asses. Hopefully better than Hosannas.

It’ll OWN Hosannas…this is a line-up of Youth, Big Paul & Geordie we’re talking about here…not the KJ heavy metal line-up.
I’m one who likes the newer stuff. This one growing on me.

I like the newer stuff, too.
Hell I think Pandemonium, Killing Joke (2), and Hosannas are their best albums.
Hosannas in my least favorite of all of them I think. It’s just boring imo.
the newer stuff is so so. I prefer their early work cause it doesnt sound forced.
I wouldn’t say the new stuff is forced per se. At least not the second self-titled. I think they went into that one with guns blazing. Hosannas was probably all Jaz, with Geordie and the others going along with it. Brutal album, but what else is there? Nothing will ever compare to the first two albums and Night Time. Hopefully there’s good flow on this one though. The 2003 one was kind of all over the place.
Has anybody heard the new Killing Joke ep ‘In Excelsis’??
It’s actually really good.
Really good.
Colour me amazed.
