I’ve also heard a lot of disdain for the Killing Joke s/t from 2003…while it isn’t nearly as good as the original s/t Killing Joke I still like the record a great deal…not a huge fan of Dave Grohl music but always liked his drum work…it shines on this album…great album with hard driving catchy songs…
I really like the s/t from '03, “Blood On Your Hands” is like Night Time on crack. Grohl’s drums definitely shine on this one. He is a huge KJ fan, too (FF have covered Requiem in the past). I also like the Democracy album a lot; it suffers from some suffocating mixes, with Jaz getting drowned out half the time, and some mastering issues (not exactly brickwalled, but definitely a sign of things to come).

Agreed on Democracy…an often overlooked recording…I like almost all KJ except for that unfortunate mid 80s period…
I somehow at one point had three copies of Cyberpunk. I like it a lot.
If I’m not mistaken, “Cyberpunk” was one of the first CD releases that had a special or deluxe edition with a multi-media disc. If I remember correctly, it was an actually floppy disk which could only be used on a Mac computer. Mr. Idol was way ahead of his time. “Shock To The System” was a good track too.

BTW, love or hate the record, [url https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk_(album)]the Wikipedia article on Cyberpunk has to be one of the most informative and comprehensive album pages on there.
The part about Idol getting flamed and email-bombed by people from the WELL etc. is particularly interesting, but not surprising…typical sad ‘punk’ paradox of wanting to have a revolution, but lashing out angrily the second the revolution seems to be gaining traction in the mainstream. As clumsy as the record ended up being, I don’t doubt Billy actually was excited about the culture and wasn’t just desperately grasping for a gimmick to revitalize his career.
