This is the first look at what’s set to be the most expensive film ever made and what some believe will change the cinema experience forever.
At first look I thought it looked a bit “gamey”; years and millions of $ and that’s what they come up with? But it’s in 2D so I said ok, fair enough and watched it again and thought it looked cooler the second time so I’m still stoked for it’s release in December. The music on the trailer sounded great too. The music on both Terminators, Aliens and The Abyss was excellent so I think we’re safe in that department (just don’t mention Titanic)
The plot behind this film is very interesting too and am eager to see how Cameron handles it. You could say it’s the first 3D Eco-Blockbuster
Was going to start a thread on this…‘Upcoming Films You Are Excited About’.
Yeah, I’m fairly stoked to seeing this one, which is odd because I generally view Cameron’s ‘epics’ with either indifference or at best mild amusement.
I think it looks great - and I’ve heard that seeing on the computer screen does not do it justice. A 15 minute 3D preview has been shown which apparently blew viewers’ minds in a big way.
The ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ trailer also had me awestruck.
But Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lovely Bones’ trailer was a little underwhelming…but I’ll still see it.

I had heard the same thing too that the 3-D in the trailer was very real, and the whole premise of the movie is interesting too.
‘Where The Wild Things Are’ based on the trailer looks great, like an actual intelligent movie for once based on a children’s book that isn’t dumbed down.
"The Lovely Bones’ does seem like a step back into Peter Jackson’s earlier territory particularly ‘Heavenly Creatures’, but he hasn’t made a film yet that I have entirely disliked so I will probably see that one too.
so, watched the trailer online, and saw it in the theatres today before inglorious basterds.
I’m not a big fan of sci-fi fantasy movies, so I’m a bit biased, but it looks kinda decent, I guess. epic is a word that springs to mind as well. guess I’ll wait till another trailer comes out, but I’ll probably end up seeing it.
Really? I guess I’ll be the voice of “meh” for the board. It’s only a trailer, so maybe the full movie will be amazing and I’ll have to eat my words…
But it looks like video game cutscenes, and the blue people look exceedingly silly. I love Aliens, The Abyss and the first two Terminators as much as the next guy, but I don’t necessarily have a lot of faith in James Cameron as a director. Those four movies are his only feature films that I think are worth watching, and the last one is nearly 2 decades old. Plus I’m skeptical anytime hype comes this thick and heavy (I believe the last project that was going to “revolutionize” its medium was Spore). Prove me wrong, children! Prove me wrong!
I will agree that Where the Wild Things Are looks pretty damn good though, and I’m happy to hear that the test screenings left some children crying because it was too scary.
I haven’t seen the trailer so i’ll say that right off the bat, I never heard of this movie and i’m ignorant as fuck about what the plot even is so, just let it be known i’m talking out my ass here.
having said that, I DO know never to trust a trailer. The hype behind any piece of shit can be backed up in a 1 minute montage of the best clips of a hour and a half, to however long piece of shit.
Give me a 1 minute timespace and I could probably make that Robin Williams movie “Toys” look like fucking the next citizen cane.
guys… i have to say i saw this trailer. and it looked cool. but i’m confused. the blue guy looks like a character in a game (or anime) i’ve seen somewhere. is this some type of extravagant re-make?

From what I gather it’s an original story. They are making a game version that is to be released before the film and it’s supposed to be very interactive with loads of possible outcomes etc. Jim Cameron talked about it a fair bit at some nerd conference a few months back, it’s probably on youtube. I haven’t played comouter games in a while but I wouldn’t mind stretching out the ol’ knuckles for an ‘Avatar’ game though I would probably have to update the console and so forth. Also there’s going to a ‘Heat’ game featuring De Niro, Pacino and others and Michael Mann is overseeing the thing… that could be very cool.

I read somewhere online, forget where, that it was similar to somethign called “terra firma” or maybe i got the name wrong. they had side by side shots of a game and the movie and the characters did look alot alike
At first it just looks like a remake of ‘Aliens’ then it becomes an allegory for the countless number of invasions throughout history. Should make it popular with ethnic groups who have been dispossessed. I suspect the lead actor is not up to the job. At least Tom Cruise isn’t in it.
