Well looks like Leno’s out. I know he gets a lot of flak for being a suppossed “brat”, But I’ve always preferred him over Letterman, Kimmel and the slew of other unfunny try hards, and I couldn’t care less about the rivalry they all have with Leno… haters I tell ya!! He was the only talk show host that didn’t bore me to death, I could literally watch the entire show from begenning to end.
And what’s with NBC giving all these former SNL guys shows now? Fallon fucking sucks, now he inherits arguably the biggest seat by taking over Leno. I predict his version of the show will bomb hard. I hope Leno gets another shot somewhere.
Yea and that’s another thing. Letterman always came off as an arrogant rude prick. And maybe Leno is a brat, maybe he’s not, I don’t really care, I just know he was a good dude and a great host. And the fact that he’s a gearhead makes him cool in my book.
Cant stand leno. What he did to conan makes him even worse as far as im concerned. Letterman is hysterical to me followed by conan. Leno has never been funny to me. Seriously dont know what his appeal is.

Leno was TV comfort food. No, I didn’t think he was ever hysterical or challenging or anything. He was lukewarm, middle-America, G-rated, safe comedy. Somewhat entertaining and pleasant. I’ve talked to a LOT of people that have met him through various charity events and such and everyone says he’s a great generous guy. Whatever. I don’t really give a rat’s ass. Since getting cable I don’t think I’ve seen even 5 minutes of his show.
I hate David Letterman. He just seems so detached and arrogant, and I really don’t find him very funny. I think I liked him okay 20-25 years ago, and he seemed edgy and sharp at that time and seemed to engage the guests and create some tension that was always fun to watch. But he quickly grew tired and seems to just show up and phone it in now.
I’ve not watched his show in a long time, but back in the day I preferred Conan over all of the other hosts. When he had his 1am slot or whatever, back in the early-90’s he knew he was the black sheep, redheaded step child and seemed to relish it and had a true who-gives-a-f*** attitude. I don’t know if any of that remains as I’ve never seen the new TBS version, or whatever channel he’s rockin’ these days.
Kimmel – I’m okay with Kimmel. He’s a smart ass but not ever in a nasty mean way and I think he plays well off the guests. I only turn in occasionally as he actually gets musical acts from time to time that I’ll want to watch (Slayer, Megadeth, etc.).
I prefer Conan although I have no problem with Leno. I just get Conans brand of humor more I guess. Plus I met Andy Richter once so I suppose I’m a little bias.
Conan O’Brien was the funniest person on American television since Betty White in The Golden Girls. Why you guys haven’t made him president yet is beyond comprehension.
The time he hosted the Golden Globes and did that segment where he wakes up in Ozzy’s house was tv gold.
I also hate Ellen DeGeneres. Why does she have her own talk show? She is as interesting as slightly lukewarm toast.
I feel bad for how Conan got dicked. Conan is funnier than Jay though. And before the whole debacle NBC was late night bliss. You had Jay on at 10:30, and then Conan an hour later, that was entertainment, folks.
leno sucks.
like dave. saw him once in nyc, guests were brian wilson (news anchor) and elvis costello.
i actually think jimmy fallon is funny. i think he’s going to do well. believe me, i can’t believe i think that.
Fallon is a funny fucker, and I loved him on SNL and his impersonations are dead on and fucking hilarious. So i love him in that respect,. But i dont think he fits the mold of a talk show host. Nowadays they’ll give anyone a show though.
