I wish the guy had mentioned Paul in the review. I suspect he had a lot to do with the sound of Filth Pig.
The review didn’t go into very much detail at all. I don’t think this guy really has much insight into Ministry and overall it was quite worthless. But kudos to him for finally “getting” ‘Filth Pig’. Congratulations.
Filth Pig is definetely an underrated album. Like the reviewer´s description of the title. Suits it perfectly.
A very dark and quite moving album.
I consider “The Fall” to be one of Ministry´s absolute BEST tracks throughout their whole career - Talk about a gripping track suited for poor bastard on the verge of self destruction…beautiful song!!
Damn I´ll give it a spin immediately!
I listened to Filth Pig the other night, having not listened to it in about 3 months. I turned that motherfucker right up. And it still kicks some serious filthy pig ass, even after 100s of spins. Their best album.
I agree filth pig is one of their most underrated albums ever. The fall is one of my favorite ministry songs ever. I remember being 16 years old waiting forever for filth pig to come out. When they played at the aragon brawlroom Al basically drowned me in bushmills whiskey that night. What a pit that was! [cool][cool][cool]
Madoff is in jail. He pleaded guilty to all 11 counts. Awesome.
The review didn’t do too far in depth, but I liked it’s general thesis:
“…how do you follow-up such a hyper-agressive album like that (Psalm 69)? You can either do more of the same in an attempt to appease the masses clamoring for that same speedy madness, or you can continue to evolve your music. Al Jourgensen decided to play things risky and chose the later.”
Funny how years later instead of “playing things risky” and moving forward with music Al tries to go back to his old formulas and ends up sounding half-assed and out of ideas, Redundant at best. And in the process he alienates much of his older fanbase only to gain the admiration of a few new piss-tards who worship everything the man shits out.
Pathetic.
My personal favorite. Followed closely by Twitch then DSotS. All of which I though shite, upon first spin.
god i wish i had a cardboard mockup standup kid holding a flag.
oh yeah. it’s here.
let me prop this baby up .
still holds up well, after all these years…

Betcha don’t have a cardboard mockup of the fat woman with the dunce’s cap, hey Jeebsy ol’ boy.
Unless I stand corrected…
those don’t exist. as far as i know.
perhaps wobro dug the kid and not the fat lady enough to pay for the paper.
(let’s not get into the teenage man vs. fleshy 30ish white woman angle of the business decision here…)
anyway, paul elledge has all the fat pictures, of which i have seen quite the few.
elledge has a way of making ANYBODY look good, i was once told, by some hag hanging on al’s arm.and no, that hag was not wife #2. she was a little taller.

Uh… Uh?

Other way around for me. DSOTS/Twitch/Pig, and I knew they were gold upon first listen.
Bought the cd used for a buck off amazon. First time I heard it, I wasn’t sure what to think, and this was around the time I started getting into the band. Mind even took some time to grow on me, but it became a staple in my cd player. Got filth pig, and it was just so incredibly different from what I had heard before, I was lost. Automatically though, I had already found The Fall, Filth Pig, and Game Show to be instant favorites. The album as a whole had to grow on me some. But I do consider it in the top three, and better than Psalm 69, and Psalm 69 is a pretty damn good album too.
Personally though, I enjoy the more punky/sludgy/slow stuff more than the last thrashy stuff. I like some thrash metal, and I enjoyed what they did with 69, but it was a very nice change of pace chronologically.

honestly…i have to know…wtf is the deal with that artwork? it’s bizarre, and i’d like answers. specifically, who was insane enough to let that get a greenlight? they/he/she/it must be loony tunes.
and what the fuck is the melting foaming chocolate bar looking thingie under the cd? i mean was their plan to not only make a cd where nobody wanted to hear the music, but were also damn near disgusted to even look at it as well?
I have a bad habit of falling asleep with my clothes on and leaving the stereo on. I just woke up and Reload was playing, pretty loud to, must of had it on repeat (then i popped in Cubanate). Plan on getting some coffee while bumping to Twitch, which i have in the car… i think
Yeah I agree with the artwork on DSOTS. What a piece of crap it is. Warner brothers had to be thinking the same thing at the time. I saw the artwork for DSOTS and listened to it. I had no desire to see them on tour in 99".
I kept thinking is this the same band that made “Mind”??? I liked the whole jazz idea but DSOTS could have been so much better than what it was for me. I like supermanic soul,10/10, and some of nursing home (it just gets to annoying after awhile.) thats it.

I always thought it was a cigar with what looks like semen covering one end.
I actually think the DSOTS artwork is interesting; yeah its ugly as fuck but it sort of apt I suppose. The front cover of DSOTS is one of my favourite Ministry covers.
But FP rules all, especially that inlay with all the letters crammed together. Class
