Microsoft revealed their new system today. Any xbox fanboys here? I think they bombed big time. It’s basically a cable box. The name sounds stupid too. Xbox One. Then what are we supposed to call the original xbox? lol
Oh well. looks like they’re catering to teenyboppers and casual gamers, as the ‘family’ console, sure to piss off a buncha hardcore gamers. Just thought I’d share.
I’ll stick with my PS3 for now, then wait and see how the PS4 pans out then decide if I want to upgrade. I’ve been with Sony forever now, and with my back catalog of games, I have no desire to switch.
Especially with Metal Gear, Assassin’s Creed and Gran Turismo always being available on Sony’s platforms.
PS3 user here. Free online gameplay, blu-ray, etc. The PS4 looks sweet. I’ll be getting that. I was willing to go with the next XBox if it was worth it or superior to the PS4 but… well, looks like I’m sticking with Sony again.

I read that while the PS4 won’t be backwards compatible you will be able to download your previous gen games onto it. I mean, that’s not as convenient as putting in a PS3 disc and going to town but yeah, once I see how it actually works that will be a definite selling point for me.
I downloaded GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas from PSN not long ago and it’s a blast. So, hopefully it’s as easy and they have WAY more titles when the PS4 comes out.

Same here, I’m pretty open to trying new games, and watched microsoft’s conference with an open mind… But looks like I’m going Sony again. Unless they pull off some miraculous shit at E3 to make me change my mind.

hardcore gamers play PC games. consoles have always been primarily geared towards younger people. what makes you think differently this time? ps3 was made to be a home entertainment system and the first generation was fucking amazing. why would that be a bad thing? it’s not like it detract from the gaming element.

Idk about that bro. PC gamers tend to be a little bit more nerdier, but I wouldn’t call them more hardcore than console gamers, that’s retarded.
Console gamers can be just as devoted to their shit as the elitist PC’ers.
Fucking “elite” PC gamers. I have a declaration I call “The Separation from Game and Porn.” Games on console/couch/TV, computer stuff on the computer. Simple.
I like having a separate room to play games on a console while sitting on the couch like a lazy fucker. If you don’t like consoles GTFO out of a console focused thread and spend some more money on a new graphics card for Skyrim because it’ll be totally worth it, bro.
I’m a pc gamer but might look into the new xbox down the road.
Why? If you’re a “PC gamer” why would you go with the inferior, gimmick loaded, Xbox, when you’re supposedly already playing games on a PC? I suggest you look into them both or stick with your PC.
No one’s mentioning the fiasco about used games? That when you buy a game, the disc will only work with the account you link it to. Forget about borrowing games from friends, or renting.
I think the reveal was a bust. I watch a lot of netflix on my 360, but I have a 360 (and a PS3) for the video games. They didn’t real much of anything other than the fact that they’re shafting used game retailers and consumers.
Plus, it comes with a kinect… It’s a cool idea and all. But, I don’t have the space in my room for that. Maybe it’s different from the original. But it required you to be (at least) five to seven feet away. That’s not going to work for me.
Plus, what are their launch titles? Sony’s got a shit-ton of them, and major ones at that, and i’m talking about big name exclusives.
I’m most likely going with PS4 this time (third gen in a row). And depending on the reviews the One gets, maybe i’ll consider buying it next tax return. But right now, it doesn’t seem too promising.

That’s what I was wondering. Is this confirmed then? no more buying used games? I think that is going to hurt microsoft more than the used games places.

They say you can trade in games, and that there’s a solution. What that solution is…who knows? But if someone else tries to use a disc that’s linked to someone else’s account, they’ll have to buy the game at the retail price to play it. And the sites, etc, that are covering the reveal, are leaving out the details that people are complaining about. Gamestop and Microsoft’s stock aren’t doing so well after the news.
That surprises me. I thought for sure the consumer would rebel against the mighty fist of the monarchs and nobles. I guess I give our current generation too much credit [:(] If I were gamestop and other such stores I’d be calling in some kinda boycott on this action. Letting everyone know the new game systems are not worth it. You no longer own your software because you can’t do with it what you please.

The whole Console Vs PC thing is so old. They both have their advantages. A PC is upgradable to no end. But a good gaming PC will cost you an arm and a leg. That’s where consoles benifit. Theyre rather cheap compared to PC’s. They also have exlusives and staying power.
PC gamers annoy the fuck out of me. Especially on gaming forums, always trying to convert console gamers. They’re like the Jehovah’s Witnesses of gaming LOL
I’ll stick with my PS2 til it dies. Only games I have for it are Doom and Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown which are for PS1. When it finally craps out on me, I’ll buy a SNES, and buy the games I loved when I was a kid. 90’s fighting games, (90’s games in general) ftw. Everything else, as Charles Barkley would say, is uncivilized.

Gamers don’t do that.
When Diablo III and the new SimCity came out, they both had locks where you can only play the game if you’re connected to the internet. That should have been an epic fail, but instead the gaming community was like “That sucks! How dare they! But I must play the game, so I’ll deal with it.”
They deserve a kick in the pants. I’m not buying it based upon principle. Xbox One - a new evolution of platforming to take the freedom away from the player.
In all honestly though. I usually mess with used games anyway. Add it doesn’t really affect me too much. If I spend 60 on a new game, I’m planning on keeping it unless it ends up a total disappointment. And my system is always online already. I can see why people are pissed and they have all the right to be.
It’d be awesome for people to actually do something. But at the end of the day, the gamer will be the one to bend over…
