From Beer To Eternity cover revealed

Can anybody confirm, I thought I read a real live drummer would be returning with the new product?

Yes, a live drummer (Aaron Rossi) was used for a number of the new songs.

It would be nice if the tracks with the live drummer actually utilize the drummer and allow the songs to not sound so stiff and lifeless. Like a big “Steve Albini type drum sound” rather than those tiny, terrible sounding, programmed drums Al’s been using for far too long now. I’m sure it’s just going to be overly compressed, mile-a-minute, sounding with no depth.

I like my drums to sound like my women - like they’re being beaten inside of a large room with decent acoustics. Meh… that one kinda worked. I’ll leave it.

He seems to give the feeling that he STILL thinks he’s “important”. Like, all over the world, metal fans (not to mention the non-metal listening public in general) are either in awe of him or think he’s some kind of arch villain.

Does he think he’s attained the same level of celebrity worthy of a Marilyn Manson or an Ozzy Osbourne? Heck…or even a Rob Zombie!!! Does he sit there thinking: Man, wait til they get a load of this!! The media’s gonna go apeshit!

Truth is, very few people either even know who he is or if they do they stopped giving a shit a LONG fucken time ago.

His apparent self indulgent ego worship does not match his actual “celebrity” status. He’s a forgotten industrial (does that name even mean anything anymore?) “icon”. A goth metal has been, who was “popular” (or making headlines in Alternative Press, to be more accurate) for maybe…2 years max!

Yet he harps on like he’s Kim Fucking Kardashian.

Nobody cares Al. Well…that’s not true. Apart from a couple of hundred…nay a thousand tops…die hards, nobody gives a shit about your antics. Nobody thinks you’re funny. Nobody thinks you’re awesome. Nobody (apart from your own sweet self and maybe three or four buddies) thinks this new material is “the shit”. You’re a fucking joke that quit being worthy of attention back in 1999.

The only thing that most people who still listen to your music remember you for is the fact that once you had cred but have now pissed it all away in a comically cringe inducing and often nauseating fashion.

I’m not even going to bother commentating on the dumbass album artwork either. It speaks for itself and is as shithouse as the music will inevitably be. Buy it if you want. Don’t buy it if you don’t want. Just leave me the fuck out of it…

This was over the top. Wash your mouth man, seriously…

It is what it is.

Ministry 2013 is not Ministry 1988. Personally, I’m a fan of 80’s cheesemetal and the lame ass machismo and sexist buffoonery that accompanied it. And that’s what this cover art is. It’s “Smell the Glove”. Sure, maybe it’s (hipster justification coming in 3, 2, 1 . . .) done as an ironic backslap to the goofiness of the iconic testosterone-fueled rock god of yesterday, but, whatever. We’re not gonna get another “Land of Rape and Honey” or “Dark Side of the Spoon”. The days of lyrical and visual mystery are over.

I don’t look for any “meaning” in Ministry these days. In fact, I don’t really look for meaning in any rock music. Ministry to me is nostalgia. Al is retired like 5 times over. All that’s left are jokes. I’m okay with that. If the song at least has a groove I can get into, I’m happy. But I don’t have any misconception that I’ll get much more than “1,2,5,M,8,R,99 Potatoes” with the lyrics.

It’s pointless to act like Al has turned on his fans or sold out or whatever the stock claims and accusations are. He did that long ago. That’s ALL almost 10 years old now.

I’ve heard the new album and I can say that “at least it’s different” from the previous ones. I like it okay. But it will probably still be shredded to pieces on this board. That’s okay too. Can’t really say Al isn’t asking for it.

This.

I feel like this is all so self-evident I’m still shocked to see people on this forum taking a new Ministry release seriously…

How did you hear the new album, though?

Goddamn that’s a retarded looking coverrrrrr HAHA!! I’d like a poster of that though.

Normally i wouldn’t even bother pointing out how pathetic all this Al bashing is, but i feel like i have to comment. The rant above, which i can’t be arsed quoting or referring to, is one of the most immature, spiteful, little crybaby screeds i have ever read in my fucking life.

Grow up. If you don’t like Ministry, fair enough, you don’t need to comment. You have no personal stake in Ministry whatsoever, it is Al Jourgensen’s band, his name is on the albums, not yours, if it’s shit he takes the blame. If it’s good, he takes the blame from whiners who refuse to acknowledge that it’s good, because they’re so transfixed on their “WAAAAH, I HATE AL” routine that they are blinded to any quality it might have.

If he does something new, they hate it. If he does something like what he’s done before, they hate it. From where i’m standing it seem the guy can’t win with some of his “fans”. Nobody is forcing you to listen. If i like a band and they continually disappoint me, eventually i stop buying their products, or even downloading them, NIN, Marilyn Manson and KMFDM being cases in point. What i do not do is go to forums that discuss those bands and pour my venom out day after day, week after week, year after fucking year, like some sad little child with nothing better to do but cry about how the bad man disappointed me.

Get it through your head, Al Jourgensen, Ministry, whatever, they owe us NOTHING. They have given us plenty in the past couple of decades that we can still love even if the new stuff is not to our oh-so-sophisticated tastes.

If the man wants to put out an album, that’s his business, it’s his job, it’s his living. He will continue to do so as he wishes. I imagine he is in no doubt as to his place in the celebrity world of Mansons and Kardashians. He knows who likes him, he can see the record sales and the numbers at his shows, he’s under no illusions.

He made a new album with his friend, who then sadly passed away. He’s going to release that album as a tribute to his friend, and i’m sure he hopes that his fans (the actual fans, not people who’ve hated him for the past decade and just can’t get over) enjoy it. I mean, is that alright? Does he have your permission? What have you done that’s so great? Let’s hear your album so we can offer opinions.

There are past members of Ministry who post on the forum, people who no doubt have good reason to be pissed off at Al, yet they have more grace and humour than someone who doesn’t know him, has no connection with him at all, apart from buying records and going to shows, and really has no right to be such a vicious, moaning crybaby. If you don’t like him, don’t buy it. You should know by now what to expect.

I’m sorry if anyone’s offended by what i’ve said, i have nothing against anyone on this forum, i try not to get into arguments with anyone, and i think pretty much everyone seems like good people - the ones i met in Dublin at the C U La Tour shows were great people - but come on. Grow up, stop feeling so entitled. Al owes you nothing. Nobody’s forcing you to listen. Enough is enough. This isn’t aimed at anyone in particular, it’s a response to the cumulative tide of shite spewed out every time Ministry do something new. I just think in general there’s so much negativity and bitterness here, it’s depressing. I’m all for having a laugh at Al’s expense, he certainly gives us enough ammunition, especially with the lyrics on Relapse, but when people start taking it so seriously and getting so vicious and petty, it’s just sad.

*and no, i am not Mrs J [:)]

I like this post.

I’ve little interest in what Al is doing these days. But I don’t whinge on here about it. I talk about music/topics that interest me.

Ohhh man,don’t do it…[laugh]

How did you hear the new album, though?

I listened to a CD that someone played for me back in February.

I wasn’t going to say anything as I didn’t want to taint anyone’s expectations or experience of it when it is finally released, and I won’t be discussing sources or anything as I respect people’s privacy and don’t want them getting hounded by nerds asking for favors and such. And no, I do not possess said CD.

I will say, though, that it is DIFFERENT from previous thrash-metal attacks. I think some people are going to be pleasantly surprised. Some might even love it. Others will hate it after hearing it. And some will hate it without listening to it. It makes no difference to me. But I do think it’s silly when some people talk about how horrible it is before it’s even released or bash it while saying they have no interest in checking it out.

I agree with this.

Welcome to the internet…it’s infected everything…

If Jourgensen simply delivers something different whether it’s my taste or not, and it seems he’s put at least a tiny bit of effort into it, I will be satisfied.

Kinda the way I feel as well…

I noticed the title font is the same one used for the Mind album (some wedding font, can’t remember the name).

The cover is too cartoonish for my liking, my first impression is, it’s ‘goofy’. It’s visually better than Relapse, in that I don’t have to look at puke and the generic background lifted from deviantART, but their graphic designer really needs to lay off the PS effects. The outer glow/drop shadow/satin FX he is using cheapens the appearance of the Ministry logo and title text. Less is more, especially when there’s so much going on already on the cover. Ah well. I am still interested to hear what these new songs sound like.

Heh, the image of Al on the cover makes me think of Milan Fras of Laibach :stuck_out_tongue:
