well, thanks for the update.
Alright the LD came today. I’m already in the process of recording to DVD. the sruface of the disc is a little scratched but fingers crossed it doesn’t skip. So far the picture quality is still not all that great but to me NOTICABLY better than the VHS.(although i have been spoiling myself with blu ray lately so tht could skew my opinion) should be done recording in about 45 miutes.
then on to chaptering it up. BTW the Ld has “chapters” so I’m going to keep the breaks as close as I can to the original.

I’m gonna do the happy dance when you post it. My old VHS copy of this bought it in a move a few years back and I don’t have a VCR anymore anyway.
Sorry for the delay in posting here but I conked out for a couple of hours after the transfer was complete. Sure Wish I could be that tired when it was really time to go to sleep!!
Couple + things
I was able to record at the best possible Mega pixelsetting (10.08) and the dvd itself lines up perfect with the music so there is no Japaese monster flick going on. Will see if this continues after I rip this DVD out onto the computer to track up. which I will do right now.

You know the more I worked with it the better I noticed the quality is. The new backgrounds are shaper and the thumbnails clearer. SO there ya go. Hope it’s what those interested in this are hoping for

No. what I posted is what ya’ get. There isn’t even a chapter menu. although it was chaptered, but you just had to push “next” on the LD player to get to them.
Although there are some fantastic quotes From sire execs on the sleeve of the LD jacket that try to entice you into buying this LD. I plan to post them later. They are pretty Morose in the idea that they quoting the persian gulf war soldiers. “nothing gets me more in the mood to kill than this here band” or something along those lines!

i’m interested to know what set you are using to rip this stuff? you have a/v inputs on your video card, or do you have and external usb/firewire type device that encodes with hardware on the fly?
or was it you (i remember someone mentioning this) that just puts in into your home theatre dvd recorder?
