Football is upon us.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/powerRankings

There’s obviously a buncha Eagles fanboys working for Foxsports. The Eagles are rated #1. xD Really??? “Dream Team” huh? You’d think after not even making the playoffs last year that would wrap up the hype machine for the Eagles. WRONG!!

They are favorites again this year for reasons that are beyond me. Vick really? You’re not gonna win with Vick. He’s retarded. All he does is run around, gets sacked and injures his freakin knee or foot or some shit. Happens every year. They also have the Cowboys at #13. xD! LOL!!! Wow.

Cowboy haters, what’s new. The Cowboys defense has been fortified this year. Good luck out-maneuvering Carr, Jenkins or Clairborne. Cowboys tomorrow. I know you’ll be watching Foxsports.

Cowboys 10-6 this year. :stuck_out_tongue:

All it means is I can’t have an intelligent conversation with most folks until February.

Vick can barely make it through the pre season unscathed. With as much as he runs with the ball, there is no way he can make through an entire season without getting knocked out for a few games.

Even if he can make it through the season, he’s just not a great passing QB. Outside of his fluke 2010 season, his completion percentage is usually less than 60% and his Interceptions are in the double digits.

As much as I hate the Packers, I have to admit that they have one of the greatest QBs ever. A great QB can carry a team a long way so I have to go with them at #1.

Since it’s that dull time of the summer between when the Cubs have been eliminated and the World Series begins I might as well turn my focus to football. Sure. Why not.

Here are the ESPN Power Rankings…

 1. Packers
 2. Patriots
 3. Giants (0-1)
 4. 49ers
 5. Texans
 6. Ravens
 7. Eagles
 8. Steelers
 9. Bears
 10. Falcons

I can’t understand how the Packers win with such a porous defense. The Patriots are always in the hunt, but they’re hardly the physical, dominating team they once were. NYG have already lost at home. The 49ers seem ready to excel but now play a tougher sked and are probably a year away. Texans are unpolished, the Ravens and Eagles are birds…cool birds but birds never win in the NFL. The Steelers wear yellow pants. Falcons…again birds. That leaves…

The Bears. Dominating defense with Briggs, Peppers, Urlacher and the gang. Brandon Marshall is reunited with Jay Cutler, and Forte is the best all around back in the NFL. The roster is deep and they probably have the best Special Teams in the league. It might take them some time to gel, and they play in the toughest division in football with the Packers and Lions…but I think they’ll at least get to the NFC Championship Game. And from there anything can happen. I know this…nobody is going to out-muscle or out-hit them them year. They’re huge.

being a dog person…

Fuck Michael Vick.

I can’t understand why someone would even like the guy knowing his history of drowning dogs and shocking them to their death. Fucking shit-bag he is.

Yea exactly haha. He had an amazing season in 2010 but he can’t maintain it due to the injuries he racks up. Dude, he’s not even a top five elite quarter back either. Shoot,I got Romo ahead of him. Here are my top 5 QB’s

1.Tom Brady
2.Drew Brees
3.Peyton Manning
4.Aaron Rodgers
5.Tony Romo

Haha.

THIS.

the fact that someone in the NFL was still willing to employ him lowers the stock of the entire sport as far as I’m concerned.

Besides, I’ve yet to be excited by football since the first time Warner took the Rams to the Super Bowl. There should be a picture of that roster in the dictionary under “Domination”.

Honestly, if the Rams aren’t doing well I’m not emotionally invested in any non-local teams enough to care about football. Same with the Blues and hockey. Baseball just puts me to sleep.

now disc golf, THAT’S a sport. Seriously, how beautiful is this throw (especially the second camera angle):

The Packers are a safe pick to win the Super Bowl. I like the Bears too. These Rankings are a hell of a lot better than Foxsports. Only thing missing is the 'Boys. Cowboys should easily be right there in 7th or 8th ahead of the Eagles.

Here are some so called “NFL experts” picks for last nights Dallas vs NYG game.

NYG across the board. xD!! Safe to say they are all retards. The only reason NYG made the playoffs and won the Super Bowl is because Dallas’ Cornerbacks got torched on the last game of the 2011 Season, and the winner made the playoffs. Well during the offseason Dallas drafted a bad ass corner and signed Brandon Carr an elite corner xD. Soooo… obvously these NFL experts didn’t get the memo.

He’s probably only sorry he got caught. But he did get CAUGHT that’s all it takes to change a man. He values football more than anything and he knows he made a mistake, he served his time and moved on. You should too, man.

Unfortunately, I’m in Cleveland and thus am a prisoner in the Factory of Sadness (conveniently located at the corner of Desolation Alley and the Boulevard of Broken Dreams).

CLE has a new owner. At this point, anyone with a pulse would provide better leadership than the absentee landlord that was the Lerner family. Seeing the Browns play is akin to watching zombies shamble onto a field only to be picked off by snipers, if not run over by tanks.

Topping things off, the former owner of the Browns (Art Modell) died last night. Let’s just say there won’t be any football fans mourning his loss in CLE. The Modell family would be wise to cremate him and scatter his ashes, as I’d wager there will be no shortage of still-pissed-off Browns Backers holding it in to crap on his grave. Personally, i’m of the mindset that strangers die all the time, but folks in these parts never let go of grudges.

The Packers and the Giants will be powerhouses this year. The Pats legacy and the Eagles are far behind now - it’s a Packers/Giants year.

Oh man I know all about the dark cloud hanging over Cleveland sports. Lebroni James burned you guys bad. The Browns draft picks never work out. It’s probably a management thing rather than bad luck. Sure there’s probably some bad luck thrown in there xD. Things turn around when you least expect it.

I’m not really buying the Giants this year. I think they’ll be a mediocre 8-8. (Coming from a Cowboys fan xD). The Cowboys blew some pretty big leads to the Giants last season which could easily have made the Giants an 7-9 team. Dallas has corrected those defensive issues and I can seriously say without being a “homer” that Dallas will win the division and finally make the playoffs. Romo has some deadly weapons.

Whaaaaaaaaat? his contract was up, he left. how is that a burn?

Dude the way he left was like a big F U to the Cleveland fans. Sure, his contract was up and he has the right to sign with any team he wants, but he did it in the most retarded way possible.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTeCc8jy7FI

and on top of that he mouthed off saying he would win multiple championships in Miami. Really arrogant dude. I really enjoyed watching the Mavericks whoop the Heat and completely shut down LeBroni in the 2011 finals.

Dude, the Lebron hate is so played out…if the worst thing he ever did was make an ill-fated announcement that raised millions for charity, big fucking deal…he matured alot in the last year and apaologized for any mistakes he made…and then he went out this year and won an NBA championship, won the Finals MVP then won a gold medal and won MVP of the Olympics (and he is gonna dominate for a long time to come)…guess who the only other player in history is to accomplish that quadruple feat is?

He has actually turned into a pretty humble guy who is incredibly active in the community down here and is very generous and giving…have your opinions but hating on Lebron is just so passe…even Cleveland fans have moved on…the guy proved himself this year in more ways than one…

By the way,the Heat parade down here was so much fucking fun…beautuful people, cutthroat thugs, gang members, fashion models,lower/middle/upper class of all varieties co-mingling and having an epic street party…good times…

I don’t see it. why should he stick around a losing team? based on the link you provided, he didn’t talk shit. he just stated plainly, “I’m going to Miami.” he didn’t say anything negative about Cleveland. As a matter of fact he spoke highly of Cleveland. how is that a big F U? I don’t think he did anything wrong, at least towards Cleveland, aside from taking the cowards way out… (never once did Michael Jordan try to get traded to be on the Lakers back when he was losing with the bulls in the late 80’s but that’s a different point).

If didn’t want to stay with the cavs let him walk… he didn’t break contract to leave and you know he played 100% the whole time he was there because you know he wants to win.

I think the Cavs just sound jealous cause they couldn’t hold on to him. Nobody was more disrespectful than that silly owner of theirs

and on top of that he mouthed off saying he would win multiple championships in Miami.

Well I’m pretty sure he said he was hoping to win multiple championships and any player hopes for that. Plus, he’s only been there a half season and wasn’t their roster riddled with injuries in the playoffs and they still put up a fight?

Really arrogant dude.

I get the exact opposite from him. He seems like a really humble dude on and off the court. Especially when you compare him and arrogance incarnate, Kobe Bryant, that I have had to see every basketball season for the last 15? 16? years. I like Lebron.

I really enjoyed watching the Mavericks whoop the Heat and completely shut down LeBroni in the 2011 finals.

i like watching the Mavs win too but only because when I started watching basketball 25 years ago the Mavs were so horrible that I thought they were brought into the league just so the shitty teams would have someone to beat.
I like Cuban’s success story from poor fan to involved owner.

but back to Lebron, the guy gets a bad rap cause the Cavs are now that horrible team that’s in the league so the shitty teams have someone to beat. They wanted Lebron to do it all he couldn’t, he got tired of not having a team, so he walked, and walked politely which i think enraged the fans cause they really didn’t have anything that they could hate about him so they just created this narrative that is no where close to true. but hey whatever makes you happy.

Yes!!! No doubt in my mind that he has learned from his mistakes. He’s said it himself that if he could do it all over again he would’ve done it differently. Meaning he probably wouldn’t have gone on ESPN with his “Decision” 1 Hour special xD . The media flamed him for it desevedly so.

With all the dancing on stage and mouthing off, come on? That’s too over the top don’t you think? He was asking for it. I’m just knocking him for that. I know now he’s a changed person and grew a lot from that experience. I saw him play in the olympics loved his play.

Well I’m pretty sure he said he was hoping to win multiple championships and any player hopes for that. Plus, he’s only been there a half season and wasn’t their roster riddled with injuries in the playoffs and they still put up a fight?

HAHAHAHAHAHHA!!! I quote. “NOT 5 NOT 6 NOT 7” xD. And this was all before he even took the court with his new teamates. Arrogant? I think YES. It’s not like he had a bad team in Cleveland either when he left, they were a perennial playoff team year in and year out.

I think he just hated the town and he had already been talking with D Wade and Bosh about teaming up in Miami so yea… he had it planned. And that’s cool, he can play where ever he wnats, I agree with that. He just show boated a little too much. And after Dallas thrashed them in the Finals he got flamed for not delivering on his “NOT 5 NOT 6 NOT 7” championships speech xDD LOL. Look I don’t hate the guy. I saw his maturity level rise when he won the championship, olympic gold medal. He learned from it. I don’t think we’ll be seeing that side of Lebron again.

i like watching the Mavs win too but only because when I started watching basketball 25 years ago the Mavs were so horrible that I thought they were brought into the league just so the shitty teams would have someone to beat.

Fuck. Those 90’s Mavericks teams were the worst of all time. Yea I’m pretty sure they were brought into the league for teams like the Lakers to smash on and rack up some Wins xD. That all changed when Cuban bought the team. He’s made one or two bone head moves at the front office (not resigning Steve Nash comes to mind). He’s turned it around though. He spends the cash and he gets players to sign here. Love the guy.

Yeah grmpy makes some good points here…and yeah I see what Xtra is saying in terms of the celebration being over the top(but it is Miami haha, everything is over the top)…like Grmpy said,Dan Gilbert, the Cavs owner handled the situation with zero class and ended up looking way more petty and dickish…part of the problem is they didn’t surround Lebron with anyone in Cleveland…why would he stay if he doesn’t see managment making moves to surround him with talent??Plus,he knew a basketball guru like Pat Riley was gonna put together the pieces to garner a championship(which happened)…plus,no disrespect to Cleveland but the weather, nightlife, etc etc is a bit more alluring in Miami…

So yeah Pat Riley put together a team taht in their first year of ever playing together were 2 wins away from winning a championship…so the next year he made some tweaks and voila!!!

And hey with the sad state of affairs that are the Dolphins,Marlins and Panthers (although the Panthers finally at least made the NHL playoffs last year, for the first time in 12 years lol)…we will take whatever we can get down here!!!

Oh man, the Cavs owner was a complete dick bag about it. He was pissed. This is the letter he wrote to the Cleveland fans after Lebron made his decision to play with the Heat.

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

“I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE”

You can take it to the bank.

I like that last sentence there xD!!! “You can take it to the bank” LMAOO, but hey, I’d be pissed too.

Riley put together a freakishly good team in Miami, having 3 huge stars just makes it that much easier too. Lebron will easily win a few championships, dont’ know about more than 7 as he claimed xD!! They have the Lakers to worry about, they just signed Dwight Howard and made them favorties to win it all. It won’t be easy for the Heat.

Yeah, that whole take it to the bank thing didn’t go as planned haha…the Lakers will definitely be better with Dwight next year but Kobe and Nash are in their twilight and not as strong as they used to be…still that type of experience will guarantee that they are formidable, and Dwight just dominates as a center…truth be told I’m more worried about the Thuder…a lot of youth and freakish ability and talent on that team and they will only get better in the off season…plus they will be hungry after getting a taste of being in the Finals…

Will be interesting to see what the new Brooklyn Nets will do and the Knicks will be better(god,I hate them)…Clippers will get better and the Memphis Grizzlies are a young sleeper team with lot’s of talent…

Spurs are over the hill and the Magic are just toast…then you have all the middle of the road teams like the Hawks,Jazz etc…the teams that always make the playoffs and never get anywhere…should be an interesting season all in all, though…
