Football is upon us.

part of the problem is they didn’t surround Lebron with anyone in Cleveland…why would he stay if he doesn’t see managment making moves to surround him with talent?

This is pretty much the crux of my thinking right here. This and when lebron left cleveland he didn’t openly say “fuck cleveland.”
So I have no proble with the guy. He’s fine by me.

Kobe and Nash are in their twilight and not as strong as they used to be…

Kobes never been strong. That guy helped usher in a new more retarded NBA. All that guy did was lower the bar on talent and help turn the NBA into an extension of the special olympics. Fuck that guy and the attention he demands. He’s definitely fallen victim to believing his own press.

Clippers will get better

No way. They find a way to fuck up their chances everytime. Whether its injuries or losing players to free agency or players demanding to be traded or wasting draft picks on players who end up being shitty or givng away draft picks on players that fail to perform… the clippers are where they will always be. At the bottom.

As far as that stupid letter the cavs owner wrote… what does he know about loyalty? how many times had he traded away players that produced for him because he wanted something better? Probably way more than once which is how many times lebron has done it.

I hear what you are saying about the Clippers…they are a doomed franchise…but they are better than they have been in a very very long time…Chris Paul is a very good player and Blake Griffin is a freak of nature…I’m not saying they will win anything but they will at least compete and make the playoffs, which for that franchise is a total anomaly…

The NBA is a league of babies. If that’s what you mean. You got big name players wanting to sign with marquee franchises and leaving good teams to do so, usually small market teams with a loyal fanbase. Take Carmelo Anthony for example. He ditched Denver a very good team, to go play in New York,a shit team that hasn’t made the playoffs in forever. And what does he have to show for it? Nothing but a fat contract xD. No titles, and I doubt he will be winning any anytime soon. It’s all about money and big city nightlife for some players.

Deron Williams is another great player who chose to stay with the Nets when Dallas had offered him a good deal. Sure for a lot less money, but he’s guaranteed to compete in Dallas, not so much in Brooklyn.

NBA has been a turnoff lately. When you watch a game it’s almost like you’re watching the refs play. Calling bogus fouls on shitty players and never any on stars. NBA is a league of stars, it gets boring and predictable. Players flopping around and shit trying to get a fake foul called… boring.

Actually the Knicks made the playoffs the last 2 years in a row…they just didn’t do jack dick when they got there…knocked out in the first round both times…and the year before last they were swept…so yeah,it’s essentially like they were never even in them heh…

I’m not saying they will win anything but they will at least compete and make the playoffs, which for that franchise is a total anomaly…

Clearly the Clippers have better seasons here and there but for the most part as you say the Clippers are a doomed franchise.

this has more to do with the players union. If Stars turn down mega contracts it fucks up everyone else when it’s time to go renegotiate their contracts. “Why am I gonna pay you X amount of money when so and so is a better player than you and has taken far less” The only time this doesn’t affect other players is if they take less to play for their home town team. (for the sake of an easy explanation I’m friends with the 3rd base coach from the Anaheim Angels and have gotten a real education in player contracts and the politics in professional sports.) in short, star athletes that turn down big money contracts ruin big money contracts for everyone else.

This has been a complaint for years. Akheem olajuwon brought the complaint to the surface when he infamously said that he paid his dues and is a star and fouls like travelling and holding don’t apply to him… or something along those lines.

The Clippers need to get the hell out of LA first and stop living in the shadow of the Lakers, that would be a nice start. They got a good team though. I was surprised they kept Griffith, considering their owner is a cheap ass and lets his players walk.

It’s a business. A complicated business.

I feel the NBA is like the Disney Land of sports, fans are mostly kiddos and girlies lol not to offend anyone but that’s what I see anyway. And yea, like I said the NBA is a star driven league. Without Kobe and the Lakers making the playoffs each year, the tv ratings suck. The refs, the player flops, they just kill the flow of the game (For me anyway). It’s sadly starting to resemble a european soccer match. That’s why I’ve shifted my focus to hockey a bit more.

That’s why I’ve shifted my focus to hockey a bit more.

I already liked you, but you, sir, have just strengthened your favorability rating!!

Hockey, for some time now, is for me what basketball used to be for me!!
“I got into” hockey around '92. Maybe watching bits and pieces of it here and there, Liking the devils when they would be on espn. but I was a basketball fan, I was a Die Hard Laker fan. but when Kobe showed up and the league started to slide I found myself watching way more hockey and not just one specific team like I did with basketball. I would/will take ANY hockey game.

Then when the Lakers traded away Eddie Jones for Glenn Rice so Kobe could dominate the spotlight and take all of the press with out feeling threatened 'cause there was a better player on the court, that was pretty much the last straw for me and the Lakers. The Final nail in the coffin was the death of Chick Hearn he was all there was going for basketball and with him gone, I didn’t/don’t care if I ever see/hear another basketball game again.

I will say this though, out of all the superstar young talent that came after Kobe I will give strong props to Tracy Mcgrady, Kevin Garnett, and Lebron James, And while these dudes don’t necessarily play the style of basketball I liked watching, there’s no denying their talent and they certainly seem to have adjusted to being team players.

Admittedly, I don’t know a whole lot about T-Mac so he could be just as bad as Bryant, Iverson and that whole crop of Jordan wanna-bes, because I had pretty much checked out by the time he was up and coming, but when I would see his highlight reel and catch glimpses of him playing in games I liked what I saw.

I’ve seen Garnett play an awful lot, Even though I had checked out, it seemed he was always being televised, tnt, espn, espn 2, there was Garnett. I’d be watching hockey and here would come Garnett flying through center ice for the dunk or leading a fast break. There was no getting away from the dude! ok i made that last part up but seriously he was everywhere. and Lebron, I see much in the same way I see/saw Garnett.

HAHA!!! Glad to hear my stock is rising in grmypsville.

The same thing is happening to me. I’m turning away from basketball and shifting over to Hockey. Especially after that NBA lockout, all there was to watch was NHL, and Hockey is just like Basketball!!! 5 on 5 (not including the goaltender) you gotta score on the net to win, only you eliminate the refs calling a goddamn foul every 5 seconds, and BAM!! The perfect sport. It’s like football meets figure skating.

I love how the game flows, its fast paced and rough, that’s what attracted me to it. I’m relatively new to the sport. It’s easy to pick up though, and there’s a pretty decent fanbase here in Dallas after those 90’s Stars team torched the league with the likes of Mike Madono and company.

There’s also a lockout that might take place, can’t be good for the sport especially for hockey who just went through a lockout not long ago. Also they need to get back on ESPN somehow where the spotlight’s at. Versus is cool and all but ESPN is where it’s at.

As far as T Mac and Iverson. Those dudes were idols to all the kids playing basketball when I was in school. Iverson was pretty badass lol. His career has kinda gone south towards the end there. I think he’s playing over in europe last I heard lol.

If you’re anything like me, it’s gonna be hard to go back and watch basketball, especially after the non-stop action of playoff hockey. you get bored watching them walk the ball across half court and spending all of their damn time at the free throw line.

Hockey is the perfect sport. It has the non stop action of basketball, the brutality of Football without the need to stop and talk about everything every 6 seconds. It’s got the precision of baseball when it comes to the speed of the game piece. Those dudes shoot the puck as fast as some pitchers pitch the ball. the forwards launching that puck at the goal resembles a pitcher trying to get get the ball past the batter. their equipment is curved like a golf club, There’s boxing. They’re on skates. The Goalie contorts the fuck out of himself like a gymnast. it’s got nets but not boring like soccer.
It’s just perfect.

BTW never compare hockey to figure skating, unless you’re doing so to disparage a specific player or team. hockey=figure skating=insult.

It’s the fastest sport out there! I could use some speed. On nights that the Mavs and Stars are both playing I usually pick hockey. It’s a good chance the Mavs will win the game with Nowitzki scoring 30 points, the Mavs are pretty good and predictable. The Stars on the other hand are kinda in no mans land. I like seeing the growth of team and Jaime Benn blossom into a star.

Kind of like the Cowboys. I wasn’t around to see them win all those super bowls. I got into football when the Cowboys were getting licked in dicked every sunday, it just makes it that much better when they finally start winning.
