Anybody catch Chris Connelly’s post on Facebook today?
“So, I think it needs to be stated clearly by me that any kind of dim distant past disagreements I had with Al Jourgenson are exactly that: dim, distant disagreements, I think I also need to state very clearly, that I have a hunch that at that time, his former wife Angie was going behind his back and lying to him and perhaps not letting him see any communications from me or another of his friends or colleagues …that’s a theory anyway, and one that has been substantiated by other people as well-but I digress
When I see an artist of a certain magnitude making statements like Ministry is, I can’t help but think there is some hope, I also think that it’s important to remember that these are messages that need to reach an audience that is not necessarily young either (it looks like teenagers have a ton more common sense than their dipshit parents these days from where I stand): One thing I have noticed in this particular genre is that it attracts some dreadful, nasty right wing, gun loving violent assholes , the kind of people that Al has always abhorred and been unafraid to speak against and I respect that immensely .
I am glad he is here, glad Ministry has a voice in a country that has a government who would probably like to kick the shit out of him. Yes, when I were a lad we had CRASS, and they were not in anyway underground, they sold tons of records (that were disqualified from the charts, but made it onto peoples record players) and it gave me hope that there were thinkers out there: making records is a great way to get a message out.
I hope he keeps it up, and if he is ever silent, maybe that’s because things have improved? I doubt that will happen…
Anyway, that’s all…”
This, a day after he made a post comparing the new Ministry album cover to the Tackhead album cover. Presumably for the purpose of ridicule.
I remember pointing out the Tackhead comparison the second I saw the cover of Amarikkkant because I have had a copy of Friendly as Hand Grenade on vinyl since it came out in 89 …found it so strange especially because of Al and Adrians past connection…just odd…
As for Connelly, maybe time sometimes has a way of softening things…
Maybe tomorrow he will write a post about prongs.org[shocked]
Yeah, I think he’s referring in general to Al’s political statements. In light of the meathead crowd that’s been following him.
And, as mentioned in other threads, his Trumptard fans who are suddenly upset about a song called “AntiFa”. Just look at any of the comments on any of the recent videos.
I saw this. I arrived a little late and I think Patty deleted her posts. I just skimmed the whole thing, but from what I gather… Chris posted that side by side comparison of the albums. A lot of people were commenting negatively about Ministry, I saw where Al’s daughter was clarifying something Patty said. “What she meant was…” kind of thing. But I didn’t spend the time to look for Patty’s post. I gather she was offended in some way by what Chris said.
Chris clarified that although he was pointing out that the Tackhead and Ministry covers were remarkably similar, he wasn’t actually ragging on Al and he was glad Ministry was taking this kind of political stance.
Is it even a bad thing for the covers to be similar? Maybe Ministry just wanted to do an homage to Tackhead. Not like other bands don’t do stuff like this fairly often. The cover of Die Krupps’ The Machinists Of Joy is based on Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music, for example.
(Chris has separate personal and professional Facebook pages, right? I only follow his professional page, and I don’t see this.)
Yeah, and the Legendary Pink Dots ripped off a Meshuggah cover a few years back.
I was more surprised by his rather kind words. He’s not some celebrity with a PR person marching him out to apologize. In the past, he’s talked shit unhindered.
This is different.
(And yeah, I believe he has 2 pages–this was from his personal)
Y’all know I’m the first to blast any of these fuckers for anything, but . . .
TACKHEAD? Give me a fucking break.
Y’all are acting like he’s the first guy to do a low-rent satire or political thing using the Statue of Liberty. Al put Hitler mustaches on some Trump images too . . . . are you going to accuse him of stealing that from someone?
Call him out for being lazy if you want (I think it is), but you gotta be pretty far up someone’s ass to think s/he invented jokes with the Statue of Liberty flipping the bird or using a machine gun or wearing sunglasses or . . . . whatever dumb fucking gag of the day we’re supposed to cry about.
(3 years before TACKHEAD, by the way . . . you know, just in case anyone is still keeping score.)
…I wouldn’t be able to stand his hipster, cavalier attitude toward everything if I were Al! He seems very ungrateful and too cool for everything.
Ya know, i spent almost 15 minutes talking to Chris and hanging out with him at the Cocksure concert, so i think Im qualified to weigh in here on Mr. Connellys behavior. Not once in those almost fifteen minutes did he ever come off as hipster or cavalier. He was polite and humble. So, you should probably take all of what you said back.
I was more surprised by his rather kind words. He’s not some celebrity with a PR person marching him out to apologize. In the past, he’s talked shit unhindered.

Sounds like he really thinks Angie was the one poisoning the well and now that she’s gone the two of them can at least be friendly acquaintances again.
[reply][reply] So, you should probably take all of what you said back.
Wow, he did it. [shocked]
You know I was talking out of my ass there voidy![/reply]
I realized that the argument was none of my business and for political reasons my opinion on the matter doesn’t need to be publicly voiced.[/reply]
No no no, you’re a member of this board. Its your prongs given right to express your opinion no matter how irrelevant it is to your own person. Dont start playing the corporate political nice guy now. Do that shit in real life where it matters. Let fly on prongs!!
