Is this a real Ministry album? I don’t remember hearing anything about it at all.

Interesting. Maybe there’s a Wax Trax nerd who can tell us what #19 was supposed to be.
Some kind of box set apparently.
WAX 19 was to be Box Set, a Ministry side project with each of the members (Jourgensen/Barker/Rieflin/Barker at the time, I believe) contributing a solo piece of music for each side. Supposedly a double 7" at one time, supposedly pretty ambient sounding, the rumors abounded. But despite being referred to in numerous interviews as late as 89 or so, it never saw actual release. Not to be confused with WAXUK 19 which apparently shows up on an unreleased test pressing of Luc Van Acker’s Zen Bhuddist http://www.discogs.com/Luc-Van-Acker-Blue-Monk/release/7335213
Has the 12 " glow in the dark lp of Hail To His Majesty come out yet.
I’ve been trying to track down a copy for a while. I’m not sure if it’s legit or not.
Here are some sound clips:

Interesting. In a way this would have been the Ministry version of Ummagumma.

I haven’t heard anything about it. That would definitely make for a cool 12".

Only $50? I’m surprised Grmpy hasn’t snatched up a copy yet.
Well, it’s listed as out of stock. And maybe has never been in stock? The Discogs page says that 0 users own it, and the photos are just the same ones from the Juno site.
Shouldn’t this be among the recordings that Al sold to Cleopatra Records? Perhaps they’ll give it a proper release, though I’m surprised they would choose Toronto 1986 (as great as it is) before a lost studio album.
It wasn’t on Cleo’s list.
Oh, they released a list? Is anything on it that they haven’t made available yet? I only read that Cleopatra had acquired Al’s Wax Trax! era recordings.

They received a lot of master recordings to use and license to release them and other things from that era. Boxset wasn’t one of the recordings they got. If someone were to give them a release-worthy copy, they could theoretically release it, but as far as I know, they don’t have one.

Do the soundclips for Boxset seem authentic to you? To me they don’t sound right for what they’re supposed to be, but I trust your ear far more than mine in these matters.
I listened to them a while ago and they seemed like they could be legit. No way to really tell until one of the folks with a copy with a pedigree leak it. That’s the problem with instrumental music, especially when it breaks so far from the normal style. If I remember correctly, at least 1 track has the same drum sound used commonly in the 86/87 era, so could be real.
This is fascinating. I wonder if it was a test pressing of WAX 019 that got out there, and somebody decided to bootleg it? I don’t think it’s a legit release, especially when written as “M*NISTRY”.
On listening to the sound clips, I agree with bisquitodoom that on track 3 the drums are totally Ministry 84-85 drum machine sounds that were used on tracks from that period. I hear the drum beat from “The Angel” when I listen to it.
Track 1: Really like this track. Slow and low, suggesting Paul Barker?
Track 2: Heavy basslines, could this be Paul instead? Although the voice sounds and Popeye the Sailor Man keyboard noodlings suggest Al’s sense of humor.
Track 3: Twitch-style drum machine for sure.
Track 4: Got to be Rieflin. Sounds like it’s all percussion stuff.
I feel fairly certain this is the unreleased WAX 019 recording. I can’t believe that nobody on this board would have snagged a copy of this if it was really ever for sale. Nice of them to not provide a digital download purchase, eh?
Has anybody managed to at least grab the audio clips from the Juno site? I tried and have so far failed.
