It’s a good trailer, but I’m still skeptical about an Evil Dead without Ash, even if Campbell is producing it himself.
Also, “Cabin In The Woods” kind of knocked the wind out of the sails of cabin in the woods horror movies.
I’ll give it a fair chance, although I’ll miss the cheesiness of the original. The chick from the original who got fucked by the trees was hotter than the new one.
Love the Evil Dead series, I will give this a chance. Here’s hoping it’s better than the god-awful ‘My Name Is Bruce’ which came out about 5 years ago. I bought the DVD without warning, and wish I could get my $8 back on that one

Yeah,I was hoping for so much more from that flick…it was such a funny premise that sadly just wasn’t executed right…
life long fan of the first two (army of darkness, while fun is a horrible sequel) actually… lifelong HUGE fan of the first two… so im not happy about a remake. i mean, the bitch that wrote Juno did the script for this. and sam rami hasnt put out a movie of Evil Dead’s caliber since… well… Evil Dead.
and as much as i want to like Bruce Campbell, what i have realized is that he has been in more movies/tv shows that i DONT like than ones that i DO like. so he isnt really a mark of quality to me.
still… i will see this movie, obviously, haha, but i donno… even the trailer looks kinda weak compared to the original. it looks too much like every other ‘brutal’ horror film that has come out in the past 12 years.

HAHA!!! Dude. Two months ago I bought the complete series of Brisco County, Jr. on DVD from COSTCO. I don’t remember anything about it. I’m putting an 80% chance on me never even opening the box.
I also spent $30 on a Spinal Tap collection even though I already had the movie and the CD . . . I just wanted the T-shirt. The T-shirt smells like a chemical dump (from the horrible cheap ink they used) and looks like it was personally tailored for King Kong Bundy. Seriously, it’s like the none-more-black version of a Snuggie.

Yeah, I’m still pessimistic. I didn’t see the trailer, but the little write up thing and the screen shot with the girl with the cut mouth both made me a little hopeful. Not optimistic. Just . . . . you know, kind of like when Ministry puts out a new album and there’s that glimmer of hope that you’re pretty sure is going to be squashed as soon as you actually hear the disc . . . .

I suppose it’s time we get a remake of “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer”. It could be pretty awesome. Get M.Knight Shamalamadingdong to direct it. Henry could be played by Marky Mark Wahlberg. Otis could be played by Justin Timberlake. Soundtrack by Skrillex . . .
M Night Shamalamdingdong is too busy making films that will “inspire hope and ultimately change the course of humanity” - like Lady In The Water and The Last Airbender - to concern himself with remakes about serial killers.
Although if he did he would cast Haley Joel Osment in the title role and he would rely heavily on exposition, plot developing dialogue, logic defying “twists” and clumsily introduced themes that hit you over the head and scream “THIS IS THE MESSAGE THAT I AM TRYING TO CONVEY TO THE AUDIENCE” as loud as humanly possible.
But lots of people would still go and see it - which proves my theory that you can fool enough people most of the time if given a big enough budget and marketing campaign.

couldnt possibly disagree with you more on your first point.
however, do agree with your second one.
the original last house is also a waste of film (as are just about ALL female rape-revenge films made by men) but at least that one had the decency to be a B film waste of film… the remake was a big budget crap-a-palooza. what is saddest about the remake is that it is a part of this rash of films being made with the intention of sanctifying mindless vigilantism at the loss of logic.
