Honestly grumps, I have no idea why you are surprised in any fashion that Obama is carrying on and expanding the current spy mechanisms. You can bet whomever comes after will do exactly the same. Illegal or not.
Unfortunately, I think you’re right on this one. I have no idea why I’m surprised either. I shouldn’t be. Still, doesn’t make what we’re doing right or Snowden the “bad guy” for confirming the illegal activity. Is he a hero? That might be a little hyperbolic. Is he a criminal? not at all concerning this situation, but other than this specific situation, I have no idea if he runs red light or beats his wife/significant other so he may very well be a criminal but not concerning this. Is he a brave dude, absolutely, either that or suicidal.
Now you righties actually have something to scream impeachment about, however because you justified the same shit and worse under W it would be hard to take you seriously.

All this talk of the government being evil bastards who could come for you at any moment has reminded me; Happy 4th of July to my American friends, hope you have a good one!
Thanks, sir. funny you write about government coming for us at any moment… I still half expect a knock on my door for writing I think cheney needs to be tried and hanged for war crimes.
I reckon plenty of the world’s politicians would benefit from a length of rope around their necks, hahaha. Maybe they do start as idealists and once in office, like Bill Hicks said, they’re taken to a dark room and shown some JFK footage shown from an unfamiliar, never-seen-before angle…

What are you talking about? I never mentioned impeachment,
[/reply]
I wasn’t talking you specifically. I just meant the right side of the isle. In my neck of the woods there are “impeachment” stickers pretty often on cars. Same with the rightie blogs and I would always think “for what? just cause W deserved to be impeached doesn’t mean you get to scream it back when your guy is out of office.” there needs to be a reason.
Stop trying to put words in my mouth. Tisn’t happening.
Not putting words in your mouth. You misunderstood my blanket statement.

I can see why some people are angry with the man and I can see why some people fully support him 100% and think he’s a hero.
IMO he’s exposed wrong doings that are far more disturbing than his so called wrong doing of blowing the whistle. I find it puzzling that people are angry and attacking him while at the same time not too fussed with what he’s exposed.
I assume the guy is an American patriot and does not wish to see America and its allies go down the path that they are currently going down. I could be wrong though but that’s my thoughts.
On a different subject that kind of links…I have been on a nostalgic trip recently watching old 80s WWF wrestling…anyway everyone who was a fan knows the best WWF matches/events had Jesse Ventura commentating…I hit youtube for some old Ventura matches and discovered he had a ton of conspiracy shows etc…anyway he did an interview a week or two back which goes into Snowden’s actions…the guy interviewing Jesse is that conspiracy nut Jones…I’m not a fan of that Jones at all and expected Jesse to be just as nuts but was very much surprised by what the man had to say…
That’s fair enough, and I agree with you (and the others that said it) that it’s not really a shocking revelation. However, you’re calling for the guy to be tried and hanged. Was that hyperbole, or is there some other really nasty side of this that I’m missing?
I knew emails were being monitored. If you didn’t think they were you’re naïve. They weren’t being monitored to catch you for selling crack, smoking dope, having sex with your 13 yr old cousin, or robbing liquor stores. They were monitored to catch people who were going to import/export nuclear fuel, blow up buildings, etc. On the other handle, Google and other web power houses are monitoring your email and inserting ads, collecting data, selling it to companies that spam you. The govt was quietly just trying to sniff out some stuff to help the security of the nation. No was bothered by it… it was invisible to your lives until this Snowden guy. Meanwhile, every company you deal with is selling your data so you can get junk mail and spam several times per down. They are the ones making the internet slow. People don’t seem to get bent out of shape about that. And besides, now that you know your internet traffic might be monitored, how many of you have stopped sending email or using the internet? If it is such a big deal, why isn’t anyone changing what they are doing? Reason why is because it ISN’T a big deal. That’s the fact of the matter. Snowden was just a nark that said what anyone with a brain already knew… all it did was get the ding dongs like grumpy mad about nothing.
There’s a difference between knowing it’s going on, as many people probably do, and thinking that it’s perfectly fine. It’s hardly being mad about nothing if your government is acting like some sort of James Bond villain against it’s own people and people on foreign soil, using dirty tricks and smearing people. People are perhaps less aware that Google spies on them than they are about their govt spying on them, but i reckon they’d care less about Google making sure they were aware of where they could buy the latest CD by a band than their govt collecting their phone calls en masse just in case they need them some day… for what reason, who knows? Maybe they take a disliking to you and want to send you to Gilligan’s Island down there in Cuba, lo and behold they have all the evidence they need from the last few years telephone conversations. You don’t love your country as much as you should do! You’re not patriotic enough, so you should disappear! You like something they’re against, so you have to go!
If you think the threat from Google is worse than what the government’s doing then you’re quite naive yourself. The idea that we shouldn’t care about something because we don’t know about it is the same thing as burying your head in the sand and pretending everything is fine.

Aren’t you the guy that is absolutely dead set against any type of infringement of the second amendment? and yet you’re okay with the complete disregard of the fourth amendment because it doesn’t inconvenience you? I don’t know how many times I have to say it… You’re priorities are so far out of whack it’s astonishing.
As far as direct advertising, yeah I think that’s bullshit too. (and everyone I know is pissed about a slow internet) and I think it’s more than just the internet, they market directly to groups of people through television too. I’d never seen a tampon commercial during a hockey game until after I married my wife… maybe I just never noticed before but it seems fishy (Ha, catch that? HAHA see I said “catch” about a fish joke? Funny Jokes.) that once I’m married and we’re buying that sort of thing on my bank card that that’s when it shows up on my TEE VEE.
I am not dead set against anything. if/when the govt does become unbearable, it will be nice to have a rifle and some ammo.
…
My priorities, as it pertains to intelligence, is that the govt can do what they want as long as it prevents some guys from the Middle East nuking my city.
So we need to have guns in case we need to revolt against our government… but it’s okay for the government to literally do anything it wants to “protect” us?
Also, I’m sorry to hear that the government wants to rape your daughter. That’s gotta be a massive burden.
My stance on the 2nd amendment is that you can not naively ban certain types of weapons, or all weapons, and expect that to work.
Except that it can and has worked. There are several models that can be followed that are already in place through out the world. Talk about “naive.” I know “smart” isn’t really on the menu for you when it comes to your personal wants, but you really can’t talk about what will and won’t work when all you seem to know is pro NRA bumper stickers.
And besides, if/when the govt does become unbearable, it will be nice to have a rifle and some ammo.
To do what exactly against a Drone? A US army tank? against more weapons and ammo that you can even imagine?
Maybe I misread you… Maybe the rifle and ammo and rifle is for yourself… because you know you have no chance.
It might not win the war but it might keep your daughter from being raped another day. Far fetched? Probably. But, with no gun it is less far fetched.
gun or no gun, let me confirm it for you, it’s completely far fetched. your gun is only helpful if you are able to see the threat coming, which you won’t.
Australia was heavily armed and they reversed that. But you don’t care to know those things because it doesn’t fit with your “perverted world view” because you think that everything will work like the old west and people that want to kill each other will meet in the street at high noon to draw, which won’t be how it happens. de program yourself already.

That’s the only way your scenario has any plausible way of benefiting you or anyone else.

You think everyone shares your non practical approach to fire arms? If I want to kill you I’m gonna sneak up on your ass, so your gun will you do you absolutely this much, 0, good. The only way you have a chance is if I call you out in the middle of the street in front of city hall and we sneer at each other until we see who draws fasrer.

I am not going to let some 18th century ideals come in the way of dieing.
I can’t believe I forgot to include an awesomely ironic “HA HA” to your silly post.
Funny, since you’re more likely to be killed by a gun, and even better than likely, that it be your gun, than you are to be killed by some nuke from the middle east.
So, stomp on the fourth amendment in terms of safety against a far fetched threat of death and antiquated ideals, but try to regulate the actual threat of death that is the second amendment and all of the sudden those 18th century ideals are the word of God and no longer antiquated.

You’re being so ridiculous because you are assuming you can sneak up on me. What if I have booby traps in my yard, or alarms, or I have body guards watching me? Why don’t people just “sneak up on everyone and kill them” during war? If only we could always sneak up on the bad guys we would kill them all without any casualties on our side.[/reply]
booby traps, alarms and body guards, what the hell do you need a gun for? It must suck living in fear. People are easily manipulated with fear, which I suppose explains most of your “logic.”
to entertain your silliness, who says I’m coming to your house? maybe I just set up shop at the supermarket and wait for you to come to me and I pick you off at a distance…
Apparently, you have never heard of guerilla warfare. you know, it’s pussy shit now that the middle easterners are using it, but it was brilliant genius strategy when we gained our independence.
