But listening to the cover itself, think about it - this is exactly how it would sound if Al would decide to re-record it. It has all the trademarks of latest Ministry sound but applied for classic Ministry track.
Even the “current president” mask shtick that Ministry used.
I honestly don’t know if I prefer the Limp Bizkit version over this one or not 
This version even uses Ministry’s samples… If I feel the need to listen to a “fresh” version of Thieves, I think I’m going to stick with the live version off the Enjoy The Quiet record.

Here’s a working link . . . but yeah, it was pretty much exactly what I expected. A band that wishes they were Ministry trying to do a heavy fast version of the song and just making it sound like a shitty generic knockoff.
I like cover songs and tribute songs to at least have an original angle to them. This is just . . . . unnecessary and lame.
All black rivethead clothes, check. Mugging at the camera and trying to look tough and scary, check. Same stock footage used for every industrial music ever, check.

Dope was literally a middle school band for me. I only liked a few songs off of their first album, but that was it for me. Their obnoxious hot topic dreadlocks and later singles were dreadful. I remember one song where the guy ends the song by repeating the phrase “I am what I am” over and over, and he suddenly reminded me of being the bastard love child of Popeye and Edie Brickell. Fuck, those dreads make me glad I’m bald and have a slight resemblance to Rob Halford when I have a goatee.

I actually don’t mind it at all. Vocals aint too bad and I actually like the new sound of the chuggity riff. I like how much it’s palm muted with the tone knob jacked way up.

Unoriginal cover, but I guess it’s better that they credit Ministry when playing their songs. There’s a Dope song called “The Life” that’s basically a dumbed-down ripoff of Ministry’s “Dead Guy,” and I don’t think they’ve been called out on that enough.
