DOPE Covers MINISTRY's 'Thieves'

Unoriginal cover, but I guess it’s better that they credit Ministry when playing their songs. There’s a Dope song called “The Life” that’s basically a dumbed-down ripoff of Ministry’s “Dead Guy,” and I don’t think they’ve been called out on that enough.

They ripped it off about as bad as ministry ripped off night goat

Al said at one point Dope was good other than the talking between tunes, saying he talked to much…

Better than burton c. bell version

This is actually so dumbed down, it’s hard to call them out on ripping off a specific song… it’s almost comparable to anything with guitar on it released in the last 25 years [laugh]

Early Dope was good.

I liked this cover. Intense and done with their own spin on it (if you like that). I always liked Dope. They to me had more staying power than most of the Nu-metal acts from the era.

i only went two mins in on the thieves cover…

i can not believe i’m typing this. i didn’t think it was that bad. I know, i know., i’m a fag. when they use the “not the racists and pigs, but the racists and faggots!” sample. yea, it’s the original. but fuck, it works. i think they’re trying to do it just (or for the most part) like the original.

when they use the “not the racists and pigs, but the racists and faggots!” sample.

He says the “rights of society” or “a racist society.” But either way there is no mention of “faggots” in that sample.

It’s a fucking garbled mess and one could hear just about anything from that sample.

I’ve never had much clue what it was either, but never heard “faggots” myself.

If anyone actually knows I would be interested.

if i don’t watch the video… i actually don’t mind it. [shocked]
bit lazy using the same samples though.
i like how EHC used different samples, gave the song a totally different vibe…

I’ve had an idea to do a cover of “Let’s Go” for ages that would have a totally different vibe than the original. The idea was that I would use samples with the same words as Ministry’s, but from different sources. I even started collecting samples, but never got any farther.
Anyway, my point is, using the same sample is lazy.

Also, I still feel fairly certain that he’s saying “We are fighting for the liberation of man, not the liberation of these pigs and racists and BANDITS” which would go along with the song’s theme.

Thanks Rev. That’s the one. Cheers.

It’s almost as if they are trying to “cover” the song [shocked]

I was gonna cover Reload a couple years ago but my hard drive crashed shortly after I started it and I never bothered to start again. I thought it would be cool to use a bunch of movie samples I collected that weren’t in the original. I think that’d be the coolest way to cover a Ministry song, use a bunch of samples but not ones they used.

I don’t hear “bandits” either. honestly, i hear “the racists have landed”
