Debate tonight

Now normally I’d watch the VP debate, but the Canadian debate is on at the exact same time so I need to pay attention to that.

If any of you watch the Palin / Biden debate tonight, could you post some highlights, funny moments, etc…

I trust your recap over what I’ll read in the new tomorrow.

Thanks.

live and direct, man.

T-15 minutes

Well She Hasn’t Fleed the stage crying yet so She’s already doing better than i thought… plus she hasn’t Stumbled the way she did with curic
Although She has outright refused to answer some questions and even said she wasn’t going to answer them. she wanted to talk about taxes rather than address the bailout which was the question asked.

completely ignored the the bankruptcy question and said “Well I want to addres energy”

Edit: Man, she is the non sequitor QUEEN!!!

this is laughable, sad.
she’s an idiot, but biden isn’t that much better. he’s a loose cannon like mccain. except, he’s a democrat.
not much of a difference.
how’s sydney or melbourne these days?
kingston, jamaica anyone?

I think it’s pretty even, she actually is not coming off as a big an idiot as i thought she would. although i am 10 minutes behind due to tivo… i think biden is clearly winning but only because biden’s non sequitor count is zero.

Do you think Palin’s hair is real??
Sorry couldn’t resist[laugh]

I don’t think anything’s real about her

she did well. I agree…probably even tonight. Crazy to think she will be our vice and soon to be President.

Auuug, she managed to reference “soccer moms” in the very first question. I’m turning into a pile of bones over here. She was like a trained monkey up there. This lady is a dangerous idiot.

She didn’t make herself look stupid

that was her definite strength!

but she didn’t say anything that led me to believe she was anything special. Biden seemed to have a better handle on the facts and I got the feeling he knew what he was talking about.

I completely agree!! plus he has lost some of his used car salesmen mystique.

Is she for real? her closing was stupid… she copied a Reagen speech???

Ms. Smrf thinks from the nose to the hairline biden looks like beavis!

I felt Biden got about 8 points on Palin (i.e. he made attacks against Palin that Palin had no response to) and Palin got about 2 on Biden. I listened on the radio rather than watched on TV so I can’t speak to body language which is also important.

I’d say that Biden won easily in the way he was able to take apart a lot of her points and respond with statistics. I also thought he did a good job of humanizing himself with his story of single parenthood. Palin had a bit of “cute” at times and a bit of “homespun wisdom” but honestly not as much as I’d expected (which is good as I suspect those two attributes hold far more sway in determining who’ll win than I’d care for).

The big thing will be how many of Biden’s facts survive the next day fact check. Palin offered few facts so she’s pretty safe in that area (every response she made seemed like she was treading water trying to fill the time whereas Biden’s responses seemed like he could go on for much longer than the allotted time).

I went in scared that she was going to score a knock out and, fortunately, I don’t think almost anyone but the biggest Rep party hardliner will see it that way.

PS: I don’t think she knows what an achilles heel is…

It was all postured, fake smiles… you missed nothing in body language

whole heartedly agree

I would think that bidens facts will hold up, he will be doing himself and obama a disservice if he did lie. you are spot on though with your analysis of treading water specifically, cause at the start of treading water you are strong and it’s easy but after an hour and a half you’re tired as shit and she sure was!!

“The past is irrelevent” says Palin
How stupid/dangerous is that comment??

Biden’s “McCain is no maverick” rant was well spoken, I think.

Man, FUCK THIS.

I was looking forward to this and it turned out to be a snoozer. Palin was so rehearsed and phony it was sickening. Not to mention she outright would not answer several questions towards the end of the debate. Biden did fine, but I’ve seen him better in the primaries. I’m willing to bet he’d have ripped into her if he hadn’t been coached not to. Overall, the talking points on both sides got to be a bit much. By the end of it they were both saying the exact same thing in only slightly different terms.

Word. I was watching this nonsense with my Pops on Fox News (because he’s a Democrat [;)]), and yeah, they were pretty much rehashing eah other’s claims, accusations, and sob stories over and over again. And as for the war in Iraq? Pops said he heard pretty much this exact same thing go down during the Gulf War.

I gotta give props to both of them, though. Palin for certainly knowing how to engage an audience (be it scripted or otherwise), and Biden for being able to put up with her.

Whatever. November’s gonna be FUN FUN FUN.

This is such a lightweight debate. Palin is the most obnoxious and repetitive dunce ive seen in a debate (how many times did she reel off the “greed and corruption” of wall street line) and that fucking smile as she says McCain is the maverick. Ugh

Somewhat disappointed by Biden. Not expecting a lot from him but he seemed too polite or nice towards Palin.

Biden had the good lines; undermining McCains maverick status and the climate change issue (Palin says causes dont matter … yeah right) where he rightly points out that you cant solve a problem unless you know its cause.

But all in all: a pussy debate.
