Cold Waves

Just a quick check in for Cold Waves later this month, to gather those going into the one thread.

From what I can glean, Mooney, Ice and Jimmy are attending so far.

my FB thing is: amprender or we can PM each other here so we can get in touch before the Friday night.

Looking forward to seeing you all and witnessing this fantastic event.

I posted this in the For Sale Thread too,…
I have a conflict and can’t attend now. I purchased the tickets for the pre-sale and am willing to part at a low price. I paid $156. I will dump them for $75. This is for both nights and includes a COMP CD. Let me know if you want them. I am bummed to miss this amazing lineup, but sometimes life gets in the way.

Enjoy the show. It is always a great event.

Yup - See you guys there! I’m probably going to the Acumen show on Thursday too…

Going. I’m super stoked.

I’d go if I could.

I’d love to see both Lead Into Gold and Severed Heads.

Yes, I will be there. Mooney Mj is the FB. A FB group msg would be easiest.

I have a 202 area code number for you in my phone from 2011 that I’m thinking is no longer valid.

Request sent.

The only time I’ve ever been to Chicago previous was stranded at O’Hare pretty much all along for like six hours. By “all alone” I mean it was me, the night crew, and about eight hundred empty wheelchairs arranged like seats at an assembly. O’Hare is the sketchiest place in the world at 3 AM, and might be the hidden fourth point of the Bermuda Triangle.

I’m stoked to party it up proper with pleasant Prongers.

Chicago’s CTA system is pretty easy to use. There is a bar next door to Metro where we met up in 2011.

I don’t know about that. If it weren’t for Afra I’d probably still be on it.[/reply]

IMO, NYC’s train/subway system is more difficult.

I ended up in Lincoln Park.

Thats nothing to be ashamed of. Theyre a pretty successful band

Did someone take Chester’s place now that he’s doing Scott Weiland cosplay as the new singer of Stone Temple Pilots?

If I could afford it I would so make a trip to Chicago for this. I bet this would make a great weekend. Have fun those who are going - I’ll just hold out for Cold Waves (London Edition).

Ice, Zick, and myself have a group FB msg going.
Anyone else who’s going and wants to meet up, send me a FR (Mooney MJ) and I’ll add you to the group msg.

Sorry for the long post, but here’s full details for those that are Facebook-less:

• This year, Cold Waves expands north to include the parking lot and the Gman Bar where the show will be broadcast live for attendees 21 and over, who can move freely between the venues and the parking lot in between. Smokers rejoice! and cough…

• Kuma’s Corner will be in the parking lot offering food, including 2 burgers and a vegetarian option, plus Revolution Brewing will offer specials in both Metro and Gman. To further raise money for Hope for the Day, Kumas is announcing two famed “Burgers of the Month” in all 3 of their stores, the GODFLESH and the AUTHOR & PUNISHER available for the month of September. Bacon-wrapped dates on a burger? Yes they did.

• Wax Trax! Records will offer a pop-up store in the Metro lobby, carrying classic vinyl, CDs, posters and t-shirts from the original Chicago institution. Line baited, target locked.

• Special raffle items, like customized CW Schecter guitars, signed artist items and exclusive art will be available in the Metro store, along with Cold Waves merchandise, including an exclusive 15 track compilation CD featuring bands from the festival.

• The Gman bar will also host our after parties, featuring Neo bartenders and DJs directly after the show until close, with free admission, until 2am Friday and 3am Saturday.

• Finally, Cold Waves offers a kick-off party on Thursday, September 24 at Double Door featuring Acumen Nation performing their debut album “Transmissions From Eville” in its entirety, along with Rabbit Junk, Die Sektor and Revolution Brewing specials. The show starts at 8PM, doors at 7PM, is 21+ and $10 to enter. Join the CW crew, friends, family and bands as we christen this years event with a barn burner.

Single day tickets still available at www.metrochicago.com

P.S. You do NOT want to miss these opening bands…

Love, respect and thanks:

Born in 2012, COLD WAVES began as a memorial concert for fallen Chicago musician and sound man Jamie Duffy. The original event, a 14-band affair over a single night, served as a springboard to what is now a 2 day showcase at Metro. The effort made that first September evening to raise money for Jamie’s family, has now grown into a fundraiser for Hope for the Day, a local suicide prevention charity.

COLD WAVES’ goal to showcase Chicago’s relationship with industrial music featuring rare and classic fore bearers along with innovative newcomers has never been more realized than with this year’s line up. The godfather of industrial doom, Justin Broadrick brings GODFLESH back to the US for their second tour since an almost 20 year absence… the same time away from our shores as SEVERED HEADS, the Australian electronic trailblazers with a slew of iconic Nettwerk Records releases. Also championing a near 2-decade American hiatus, POP WILL EAT ITSELF should have many a music bucket-list keeper making check marks.

Featuring original Skinny Puppy member Bill Leeb, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY promises classic material from their Wax Trax! days, along with LEAD INTO GOLD, the iconic Paul Barker (Ministry, Revolting Cocks) project and their debut performance? Often credited with inventing the dark ambient genre and an original member of SPK, Brian Williams brings LUSTMORD to the Chicago stage for the first time. No less music royalty when regarding the Chicago stage, Chris Connelly’s new project COCKSURE promises to revive the true spirit of all things Revolting along with festival organizer Jason Novak.

Leaving last year’s audience in awe made it easy for AUTHOR+PUNISHER to book a rare back-to-back festival appearance, literally the physical embodiment of industrial music, along with another technical innovator, Matt Schultz’s long dormant LAB REPORT and his anti-tank-guitar. Keeping things mysterious and experimental, New York’s dark prince of noise and Hospital Productions founder Dominick Furnow will bestow a rare PRURIENT performance upon us.

This year’s link to the actual cold waves genre, RORSCHACH TEST promises a walk down Slipdisc memory lane, while electro fire starters HIGH-FUNCTIONING FLESH play the role of LA industrial critical darling this year. Already a household name synonymous with heavy music production in Chicago, Sanford Parker unveils TWO FROM THE EYE. Finally, Kansas City’s HUMAN TRAFFIC kick things off with a new style of l’enfant terrible electro-grime punk.

I was in contact with JLW on Feisbuk but he seems to have gone off the radar. [:(]

I’m super excited. I’m so excited that I immediately forgave Wal Mart for carding me because I bought metallic Sharpies to get things signed with. Buncha savages in this town, I guess.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m actually more excited to see Rorschach Test than LiG. Okay, that’s prolly a lie, but I’m really fucking excited to see them. They’re prolly the only legit American coldwave band on the entire roster. If they bust out “Sex,” which they WILL, I’m ripping my own heart out of my chest and flinging it on stage like a pair of unmentionables.

See you crazy cats in a couple days. I’m taking pictures.

I’d be pulling for “Elvis” and “Wheel of Misfortune” if I were there. Discovering that band is probably the best thing I got from the movie Black Circle Boys.

I am still around but I killed my Facebook!
Seriously, call me instead - 7 one 8 nine 3 zero 9 three 2 five or text me,
Say you’re going to Coldwaves so I know what is up. I’m gonna have a crazy next two days

ELREY! You still selling your tix?

Made it to Chicago.
See you all tomorrow at 5 pm.

Reviews please. Looks like Lead Into Gold played with a drum machine? Did A GiAnt on the Earth make the setlist?

PWEI had live drums and blew everyone out of the water.
Godflesh and Cocksure were very good too.
Chris was dressed in a suit and making fun of himself saying that he was his father.
I have a bunch of photos to upload and I’ll post a link. I have a couple good Paul Barker, Godflesh, and PWEI photos taken on the rail.
