Right. The small print bands are better than the headliners! Except for F242 of course.
Psyched for ohGr, AAIMON, SevHeads and (lol) Gothsicles.
Heard good things about Replicant and Cold Cave. Curse should be good, too, he did a great job at Pigface at HOB.
Was wondering about that. I know that was also the name of one of Barker’s bands in the early 2000-s as well, but if it’s with Connelly, it sounds like it’s not the same line up.
I thought it was a decent draw.
KMFDM is always good live and has been playing some of their classics lately. Stabbing Westward, despite what some people think are fantastic live. Ohgr has to be good, and of course 242.
Pankow and Severed Heads are two acts I simply never understood.
I am disappointed by this year’s lineup. Last year’s was better, with MBM and ClockDVA. When I saw the fest was expanded to a third day, I had my hopes up for a killer list of bands.
Cold Cave is ok live, I’ve seen them once, which was enough. Drab Majesty sounds more like an 80s retrowave band (pretty good, but out of place here). The Gothsicles is just a terrible band name!
It’s not a horrible way to spend a weekend, but I wish the pot was sweetened with bands such as Nitzer Ebb, Puppy instead of Ohgr, FLA, TKK, Cocksure/Cocks. That said, the bands I want to see the most, I have already seen at least once. I’m also not a fan of Stabbing Westward. I saw them open for KJ in '94 and was not impressed.
Just not enough there for me to make the $$ investment.
I came here to see what you guys thought of the lineup. I had some very preliminary chats about Lords of Acid playing CW but LOA couldn’t commit quick enough. I wish it would have worked out.
Is that a band? I thought it was Barker’s pedal company.[/reply]
Yeah, that’s right. His fx company. So…what happened to that Bells Into Machines LP that was supposed to come out last year. I thought that was the big Barker/Connelly reunion.
I would see Pankow merely for the chance to see “Me And My Ding Dong” performed live. Just try not to don your black turtleneck and bust into “Sprockets”-style herky-jerky dancing when that comes on.
As for Cold Cave - maybe someone here has made a PowerPoint presentation that will enlighten me as to this band’s popularity and critical acclaim.
I’m not sure I get it. Is it just a case of ‘the company you keep’ (i.e. having the support of Boyd Rice or Dominick Fernow) which lends them an “edgy” cachet even though their albums could be played in any Urban Outfitters in the country without even mild repercussions?
I’m a little surprised to not see TKK on it this year, since it’s their 30th anniversary. Yeah I’m not gonna feel bad about missing Cold Waves this year. They were on fire the last 2 years, but I can catch KMFDM and OhGr on their individual tours if I really want to. Same with 242. I’ve got other shows on my radar outside of industrial that have priority.
