I would see Pankow merely for the chance to see “Me And My Ding Dong” performed live. Just try not to don your black turtleneck and bust into “Sprockets”-style herky-jerky dancing when that comes on.
As for Cold Cave - maybe someone here has made a PowerPoint presentation that will enlighten me as to this band’s popularity and critical acclaim.
I’m not sure I get it. Is it just a case of ‘the company you keep’ (i.e. having the support of Boyd Rice or Dominick Fernow) which lends them an “edgy” cachet even though their albums could be played in any Urban Outfitters in the country without even mild repercussions?
There’s layers of genius in the above. Pat yourself on the back, dude.
There was a song on Myspace for a while that had vocals, but nothing else ever surfaced. I can’t imagine the Barker/Connelly live version will have anything to do with this. My best guess is probably versions of Connelly and Cocks tunes, maybe with the songs from Fix This with Connelly on vocals. Anything Barker/Connelly sounds good to me though.

Thanks for the info.[/reply]
Oooohhh!!! An instrumental!
Wank wank wank.
I do like Skrew. Not sure if Grossman is still in that Malekko nonsense, but it still isn’t enough to interest me anyway.
Saw Malekko last night. No Adam involved. Minimalist industrial on par with what Paul has been releasing the last couple years. Connelly on vocals. Pretty good stuff.
Highlights for me:
Front 242 (of course)
Drab Majesty (my 2nd fav)
Ohgr (heavy on Welt which is cool, liked the odd DIMD cut)
Malekko (low key grooves baby)
Low lights for me:
Cold Cave (bleh)
Boy Harsher (not bad but, eh…hyped)
AAIMON (holy shit that chick cannot sing)
Just ok:
Replicant (I dig it, they were first up period so it was a hard sell)
Statiqbloom (Skinny Puppy circa 1987 I mean that’s cool but I have the albums)
Severed Heads (way better a few years ago, still ok)
Acumen Nation (it’s good for what it is imo - BIG turnout for these boys btw)
Cyanotic (see above)
Did not see, sorry:
KMFDM (yep, true, I had work and I was never big into them)
Assemblage 23 (not my thing)
Pankow (drinking in SmartBar)
Grun Wasser (same as above)
and here’s where I eat crow…Stabbing Westward had a good set. Chris’ voice was strong, band was tight and they were self-deprecating enough to respect and laugh with. I dug it!
