Tonight fuckers! I am leaving (late) now. Hopefully to hear some damage manual with cc and atkins. we’ll see…
Is this that Jamie-something tribute thingie?
Let us know how it is.
Yeah 16 volt just got done, they played cut collector.

whaaa. what’s up? what are you talking bout?
if you’re seeing those guys… try and get some murder inc. to be played.
Acumen nation just finished. They played a mashup of join in the chant and another nitzer song off that total age. I could not recognize it until the lyrics happened. I think chemlab is on now then cocks members are up.
So were they only playing one song each?
Cool…keep us updated.
ok so i’m am awake now i gotta go to work soon so i can’t say this will be a quality post. i am terrible at review things so bear with me.
we got there really late because some of us had to work late. when we got there, someone i dont know was playing. then chris connely and martin atkins we onstage doing drums and chris singing and playing guiatr. (i guess the band i had JUST played a pigface song at the end of their set and had a bunch of extra dudes onstage. this would continue throughout the night). so yeah, atkins and cc were playing, but i didn’t recognize the songs, and the sonuds was kinda weird and we had just met up with a bunch of friends so i couldn’t pay alot of attention.
then 16 volt came on. i really wanna like these guys. they have all the elements of music i like, but i have seen them many times and i always just feel kinda “meh”. not that they are bad, i just think they’re not for me, you know? anyways, they sounded good and played songs. they had a pait of jamies boot on one of the amps and occasionally a singer would go over there and mention something about jamie between songs. so even though i wasn’t into them, 16-volt put on an entertaining show.
then acumen nation came on, and again, this is a project that i have always WANTED to get into but it just wasn’t happening. one of my friends in high school tried to get me into them and i just didn’t care for whatever reason, and my not caring has endured. again, like 16 volt, they sounded awesome, were tight, and their 2nd guitarist looked liked littlefinger from game of thrones.so they play, and towards then end, they say they are gonna play a bunch of jamie favorites, which, again, i didn’t really know, but everyone seemed to really get into.
after that chemlab came on and i went to the outer bar. i have seen them many many times, and AGAIN, are a band i just don’t dig. i know alot of people that do, but whatevs. so we went in right as they were finishing, and once again the stage was crowded with tons of people and things that i am ignorant to the significance of.
as you may have guesses already, i was there to see the cocks. anything else was incidental. and i did see the cocks. and it was awesome. it was cc, duane buford and paul, a drummer i saw drumming for acumen, a second drummer i saw drumming for acumen, and towards the end the singer from acumen (novak?) and the singer form 16 volt came out to sing. here is the setlist. (now that i am typing it out i am not sure of the order past the first song.
1-beers steer and queers
2-something wonderful (2 drummers)
3-physical (recall version) (2 drummers?)
4-stainless steel providers (2 drummers? it’s hazy)
5-attack ships on fire (acumen/16 volt guys on vox, chris left stage at this point)
(i have the nagging feeling that this may not the the right order, or that i forgot a song? i am pretty confident i am right, but i didn’t write it down and have always been horrible at remembering details like this. if anyone finds factual errors in this post, feel free to point them out, unless you do it like a prick, then suck one.)
then they filled the stage with almost everyone that was around and then the guy from acumen (novak?) started talking about how this next song was something jamie duffy always wanted to play for like 10 years but they never got around to recording it. so there is a stage packed (must have been like 25-30 people) playing a heavy version of jukebox hero. and that was it.
i think i saw gerda in the crowd? also, paul was grinning and smiling at everybody in the band the whole set. chris seemed to be getting into it a bit more than at the retrospectacle. samples sounded good, although physical had a synth line that seemed … different. duane and paul were exchanging glances about it. either way most of the vocal samples were audible and clear enough, and chris can still TEAR THE SHIT OUT OF STAINLESS STEEL PROVIDERS. those high pitched screams and rolling up and down the scale was awesome, and having him aggressively bark stainless steel providers at me from the second or 3rd row back was glorious (no barrier between crowd, so you were just up against the stage). the cocks members put down a great set, and i wish that barker and cc would do some record/tour together sometime. they really all (duane too) seemed to have a good energy onstage and enjoy what they were doing at the moment.
also, i forgot my earplugs AND my id, and got in the venue by the sheer blind luck of my idiot self. oh and i touched afra. and mooney.
Chris just can’t seem to break up with Atkins completely, can he?
awesome, i can see me!
That is the correct order of the Cock’s set list. Was a good set. Only wish it had more songs.
I have seen Acumen/Acucrack before w/FLA. Not for everyone, but sounded fine.
I had never seen 16Volt before. Sound was good. Mic was a bit low at first.
I forget who was on stage when I arrived around 9:00, but the sound was a bit poppy for my taste.
Gerda was in the crowd rockin out. I saw Miss Barker (their daughter) walk through with Afra and Paul.
You’re Forever Welcome,

It still blows my mind to see Connelly older and kinda chubby. 'Cause whenever I hear his voice I immediately think of that drug skinny youngster with dreadlocks who looks like an Amish kid in the “sexy?” video.
Late,

They sound a hell of a lot better than the last gig they did. It’s pretty cool knowing that both the Book club and Al and friends are still playing live today
That looks cool! I hope the former Cocks continue to play out now and again.
I’ve always loved Something Wonderful. Sounded good live.
It’s a shame Rieflin doesn’t participate in these reunions.
Awesome!
That looks cool! I hope the former Cocks continue to play out now and again.
And on the west coast too.
Late,
