It was a great night. I will give a better review later in the week. The evening was a great celebration of industrial music that I was glad to be a part of. I spoke to most of the bands and it appears all involved will be getting back together for new music.

After having a few days to digest the show here is my review from what I can recall.
We got to the venue early to see where it was at (I flew in from KC, my friend from Phoenix). We got there around lunch time and ran into Howie Beno who was arriving for a sound check. Great guy! Always loved his production work (Ministry, Skrew, Monster Voodoo Machine, and especially 13mg). It was great to talk to him about the scene and how he got hooked up with Ministry. I will save that for a different post.
We also ran into Seibold (Hate Dept) and Dan Neet (clay people) and chatted with both. Everyone seemed very excited for the show and it was similar to a reunion for a lot of these guys.
The opener was Final Cut. For those familiar with them, it was a great show. They only played 4 songs if I remember right. Asrock’s vocals have a very hushed and muted delivery to begin with, and live they are the same. Once again, being familiar with them, I kew what to expect and was pleasantly surprised.
ISCINTILLA was next. I was not familiar with them, and they were the oddball of the show having little “industrial” credibility. Their set was acoustic with a female vocalist. Not bad, and the crowd was courteous to them. Most people were polite until they finished their set and back to the industrial…
Cyanotic was next. I never really got into these guys and always thought they were a little underwhelming. I was wrong. Like most industrial bands, live is where they really shined. Sean Payne can work a stage, and being a hometown band, the crowd really went nuts. They go on tour next month and I know I will be catching their show in KC. I recommend you guys get out and see them if you can.
Hate dept was next. Having talked to Seibold earlier in the day, he was very surprised at how much he enjoyed rehearsing with his band. Hate dept has been dead for a while and he really only agreed to the show for the benefit of Jamie. However he did admit that this got the “Fire” going again and Hate Dept is back. I had never seen Hate Dept before and was blown away. Seibld is one of the best front men in the industry. He insults the crowd (and HD classic) and they feed off him. I am Truth, Bitch, Release it, New Power and and killer version of Pigface’s Insect/Suspect with numerous guests closed out the set.
The Clay People were next, and I must admit they have always been a favorite of mine, so this won’t be partial. Dan Neet, is one of the most intense vocalist I have seen perform live. If you are familiar with their sound, he has a gruff voice that would seem hard to pull off live. Not the case at all. Dan hits all of the notes and brings an energy to the stage that rivals some of the best. A great set that ended with the classic “Awake” and the crowd chanting along “WAKE UP, TIME TO DIE!” Like Hate Dept, Clay People have reformed and mentioned that Jamie’s unfortunate exit brought the band back to life.
More to come when I have more time…
that would be something to see/hear. Wish I was there.
Unlike many others on this forum I would love to se Chemlab to =)
didn’t chris play with final cut? did he not play with them at the benefit?
Does anyone have any pictures of the gig?
I have not loaded the pics Mysfyt shot with my camera into the computer yet. I’ve been a bit busy and jet lagged.
it was COLD WAVES: Jamie Duffy Memorial concert. I “like” the WT II records page on facebook, and some of the label people worked on putting on the event. and there was a thread about it here on prongs too
