“Why have we never put a band together to play Bowie songs?” a mystified Chris Connelly asked his friend and collaborator Matt Walker. “I don’t know… I’ve thought about it so many times…” came the equally mystified reply.

to be fair, that’s kind of why I like C.C. … he wouldn’t make a ridiculous statement like that. yes he has a Bowie aura to his vocals but…that’s pretty much where the comparison ends…
I remember listening to The Damage Manual and having people ask if it was Bowie. I think I may have to talk to the miss us about going to this show. Almost certainly the closest we’ll ever get to actually seeing Bowie. I wonder what the setlist will be like. Drool…
Chris is such a dynamic vocalist…he is one of those guys who has so many facets to his voice…sometimes you def hear the Bowie element but not always…regardless,he always brings enough of his own personality and style in to whatever he does…still an immense talent and a cool cat to boot…this project looks interesting…
The only time I hear Bowie in his voice are on his solo works, and even then I detect traces of Scott Walker as well…which also didn’t surprise me to find he was strongly influenced by Scott Walker later on…
It’s not a bad thing, I guess it’s cool he’s embracing it even if I do find a tribute act cheesy.
Tickets purchased! We haven’t been to a concert in years. The deal is sweetened knowing that the opening bands are playing T. Rex and Kraftwerk. This is awesome. Any hope for a recording…?

It reminded me of “Stage,” the live album from the Berlin period, but with a few later songs thrown in as well. The band was astoundingly good, and Connelly really delivered on each song. Highlights for me were the “Station to Station” tracks, Ashes to Ashes, a really intense Moonage Daydream and ‘Heroes.’ Well worth the drive down to Illinois.
Didn’t meet anyone else there. I’m a bit reserved, but I’m also not sure if anyone else went. My wife took some photos and short videos. If those are worth sharing I’ll post a link.
HAHA For years I’ve been under the impression that you were female!! I thought you and Mooney were our local women!
