I was listening to the tune today…very good. I haven’t heard the original but I’m happy with the tune. It’s got a revco feel with the bass line and other effects too. I’m hearing on vocals; gibby and possibly jello in the middle and philo at the very end
where’d you find this revco?
Yeah, it’s ok. Much better than Prunetang.
I’ve only listened to it once, but think it’s Gibby on vocals throughout.
I thought it was ok. Nothing special, but better than I expected since I’m not a huge Revco fan, and I certainly don’t like B(l)auhaus.
I’m seeing Bauhaus for the third time this coming Thursday. I may be ‘old-school’, but the first two times I saw them was in 1998! I was too young to see them in the beginning. It should be interesting to see how many 40-year-olds dress up in their original Bela Lugosi Shirts and pile on the makeup. There were plenty in '98, that’s for sure.
I like Bauhaus (Peter Murphy, L&R, etc). They’re a lot like Joy Division, really. Simplistic early on, but there’s moments of brilliance behind those plain songs, something other bands can’t capture on their first works…hard to explain. Not a popular opinion, I’m sure, but that’s cool.

Yeah I definately agree. Bauhuas does reach moments of brilliance and their simplicity is the key. The music is skeletal.
I have believed for a long time that “So What” was influenced by “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”. Does anyone hear that?
You can match pretty much anything with a 4/4 beat to anything else with a similar beat, but yeah, I see what you mean. A DJ working the goth circuit could prolly have some fun with it.
finally listened to it, off the saw II ost. it sucks. horrible sound, same league as prunetang, vox filter is ugly, and the vox sound totally out of place. doesn’t have any revco feel to it. too bad.
Bah, some of you hate everything.
Sure feels like RevCo to me. Or at least, it doesn’t feel like it’s just an outtake from “Mole” with silly lyrics.
And yeah, I bet Al was a Bauhaus fan back in the day. I hear a lot of Tones On Tail influence in the early singles, too (Go!).
Personally I dig Caliente. Has that off-center, gritty feel I associate with RevCo. Could do without the nouveau metal that Al seems to be injecting into his music nowadays, but enjoyeable nonetheless. Gotta love Gibby. I look forward to the release and the tour!
and that stupid slow speed sample in chorus… blah. i recall, same thing was in prunetang.

Since when has Revco been ‘gritty’??
The tune is ok I suppose. Though I get the feeling that Paul was pretty much the one responsible for Ministry’s rise to fame. Since he left, the standard of output has dropped dramatically.
Come back, Mr Skinny!!
“Rise to fame”? Wait, you mean them playing Lollapalooza? Or “Jesus Built My Hotrod”? That’s about as famous as they ever got, really. Not that that’s a bad thing.
Yeah, Lollapalooza was the pinnacle of their commercial success, unless you think outselling Madonna’s singles w/JBMHR was a bigger deal.

What are you, his agent or something? He was just a glorified bass player. Get over it for crying out loud.
Just the fact that he was mostly responsible for the abortion DSOTS makes me happy that he is gone for good.

Finally! I’ve been saying that for ages but no one ever backed me up! His simplistic bass lines, sub-par vox…he never seemed to fit in to Ministry for me. His two moments that had some sort of quality were his bass in Linger Ficken’ Good and Power Of Lard.

Sorry… what about brave, coarse, coarse-grained, courageous, farinaceous, fearless, game, gamey, gamy, grainy, granular, granulose, mealy, mettlesome, sandy, spirited, spunky, crude, earthy, farinaceous, gross, indecent, inferior, loose, mealy, open, sandy, uncouth, unrefined, vulgar
Any of those work?

Idiot…
Shouldn’t you be banging your head to the latest Rob Zombie or something? Seriously, all you dumb fuck metalheads who can’t appreciate experimental music are a waste of life.
Go jack off to Houses of the Mole or something.
Oh, that’s right, you probably thought it was genius. Because we all know that the world needs another fucking thrash record…
Ministry is worth jack shit without Barker.
I still like it without Barker, but you can’t pretend that a lot of that “Ministry” sound wasn’t his. That’s either denial, or you were listening to a different Ministry. I hear the Mormons can get pretty hardcore…
Any word on what Paul’s up to? I think I’d prefer another Pink Anvil release to that Rio Grande thingie coming out next year.

Touched a nerve, did we?
I guess you’d prefer I sit and listen to Emerson, Lake and Palmer, or Asia, or Radiohead?
Personally, I’d rather not.
Regardless, you can worship Paul all you want, but the point of all this was…he was nothing special in the lines of a bass player.
