I’m glad I’m not the only one who knows COF isn’t BM

Nah, there’s a few others still in denial.
Why are Cradle Of Filth black metal?
Only somebody with approximately zero understanding of the genre would label them as black metal.
I get the impression you’re only saying this to get a rise out of people here. Judging by most of the other bands you seem to be into, you’re not really one for ‘extreme’ music anyway.
You’re hardly a Boredoms, Whitehouse or Merzbow fan. No wonder you find Burzum so distasteful.

I mean anyone who says Cradle of Filth is not BlackMetal is obviously in denial.
Body Count. those guys are a real black metal band.

I’ll make a compromise and say that 90’s COF comes close but they lost that after Midian. Hell even From The Cradle To Enslave kinda lost some points though I have to admit I’ve been tempted to listen to the 2 original songs from the EP ever sense this debate came about. Now that I remember I think I saw a snippet from an interview with Dani in lords of chaos where he talks about not wanting to be associated with BM. So my argument may just become even more valid.
And grmpy stfu! Yeah it’s kinda funny you can find the word fag in Sarcofago but there’s nothing gay about their music

ha ha! like 8 posts later you saw that?
you know it was funny.
I have no pony in the bm race.
Late,

I’m going to email Burzum and tell him you think early 90s Cradle Of Filth comes close to Black Metal.

[laugh][laugh][laugh]
When people like you talk about your music in such a pompous way, I’m tempted to get what I spent 8 years studying and am teaching and throw it in your faces. But I don’t think Debussy was much of a fighter.
Better musician and composer, though.

I’m sure he’ll care deeply.
He’s out on parole, btw.
So basically, the basis of this argument is te fact that by COMPARISON to the BM bands a few people here listen to, COF must not be BM. Ever think that perhaps it might very well be BM and you just don’t like it? Is there a book out there somewhere that says that black metal has to be all entirely the same? That the other bands are apparently the archetype of what BM is supposed to be?

Black Metal has to be made with the crappiest and cheapest instruments possible. It has to sound horrible… that’s the beauty of it.
COF have tip top instruments and expensive producers to make their music sound polished and “awesome”. They are Black Metal posers so surely they must die!

Maybe now they do, but not always. The earlier albums did sound horrible, heh. At least until the late 90s.
I’m with you, Dildo.
I think those of you crying, yelling and waving your flags of obscurity/authenticity in this thread are just being silly.
And Gunnar/Akbar as, as usual, simply trolling everyone in an attempt to be funny/ironic/obnoxious.

This from the cracker who said the dead child in a box was “cute”.
Ain’t that the kettle callin the pot black??!!
Black Metal!!!
I for one will say that there’s nothing obscure about the BM bands I like. I like the more well known ones: Mayhem, Gorgoroth, Darkthrone, Sarcofago, Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Marduk, early Enslaved, Emperor and the list could go on. Sure I like some obscure music but you know who actually said fuck the underground? Euronymous! That’s right the head of Norway’s BM scene in the early 90’s said it himself in interviews. So not everyone into BM is about being underground. I think ppl should get heard and have a decent following somehow. A little bit of popularity isn’t a bad thing. It’s just when you get the annoying fans jumping on the band wagon is when it gets to be too much and you’ve possibly gotta let that band go unless ur a die hard fan. But of course I like some bands with stupid ass poser fans. Manson and NIN are perfect examples. In short, there’s no waving of a flag of obscurity as void would put it.
Well . . . if Euronymous said so . . .

This is you…
Admit it.
